And they don't even have a Railway Station, linking the Melbourne CBD to all the East and Sth East suburbs, right on their potential doorstep.

This is the whole point goto. the government's didn't just throw the money at them... They had to apply. They had to Seek, and to Desire, and to take the Chances required, to Get It Done. That's the difference of mindset, between the clubs. One club has its umbilical cord still intact. The other club is independent, and has had to 'grow-some' to survive, and survive it does, very well, as an independent club. Guts, is whats needed.

Blues to press ahead with redevelopment, even in CoVid19 financial times. https://www.afl.com.au/news/442017/blues-set-to-press-ahead-with-ikon-park-redevelopment The big clubs take the risks... and bank on their support base to get them thru, + with pressured help from the AFL. That's how they get Big, and how they stay big. They take the chances,n for the things they want. Be it players or club developments. They are Not Afraid to take financial risks, even when in financial situations. They DARE to Win. and I can't stand them. If you give supporters the function areas they would like, they, those who would like to be out of the house, will attend, and spend their money in support of the club. Even for Weddings, Funerals, Interstate games, the Bluey, Board meetings, AGM's, etc. Just because many rusted-ons here, would not go to these equal status events; many would, and many more 'yet to become demons', would also like the connection to this club, such a facility would allow us.

Of course they will, and with new coach, I expect they will play with freedom. A danger for us, more-so their small forwards, and midfield runners.
-
Don't worry when it's time for us to play in finals games, Harmes will be part of the midfield rotational setup. But for now, he's best used to give others a go inside, wile he learns much needed skills off the back half. IF Harmes ends up with a run-with role on a gun Mid, in finals, and he gets dragged into the opposition forward setup, as that run-with player, he'll need the skills he's gonna learn.
-
For us IMO, the Blues have traditionally caused us grief, Via their quick of foot small players, near goals.

I only skim, thru FootyC, on replay usually. I've lost a lot of of interest, over seasons, in midweek AFL media. Pref games only, imv. Sso sick of past players trying to be too smart. Buddy, I think his best productivity For Swans, is well past. Restricted free agents... for us, I don't know; But my post is not in relation to free agency... But more to say I don't like the idea of Daniher to us. I'd rather he stayed with the Bummers, or go to Saints or Swans. This is what brought my mind to who we might like, in the tall/ruck area. Hence 2metre Peter. IMV, has that size build of 203cms with a relatively Power build, of which we don't have any other than bean poles. We have Preust, but I do not like the idea of Preust playing as a key forward, when not rucking. So I reckon that Wright, who is just approaching his 24th birthday, is about to mature. He's just equalled his best season, last year, under the new coach up there.. And I think he's going to improve a lot. Not to become a Max Gawn, but one who is built to play 2 differing roles well. Key forward as a big Power forward, and also that Power bodied ruckman for around the ground stoppages, and throw-ins. I see how Jackson could be the centre bounce guy, and push forward, or follow like Gawny. But we lack that Big Bash & crash Ruck, and wrestle guy in our tall division. The Hawks have McEvoy, close to this type of role. Tigers use Soldo and Nankervis to great effect, servicing their quick small players. Bummers use Bellchambers. I see a role similar to how Kreuzer plays... although Kreuzer has had his career destroyed by his leg injuries. So I reckon Wright has the size and shape, to play that role, we at Melbourne do not often employ, in our ruck divisions. Powerful big men. We tend to go with beanpoles, or jumping jacks... its a fashion thing, i reckon with us.

Maybe they are LED's, as well.

I think the Bronco's were poor last week, as well, iirc.? almost a trend-line happening, but too soon to tell, just yet. I am hoping the 'Stormers' will bounce back this week, after a really undisciplined showing last week.

He has just had his best season, under the new coach, last year. He is on the improve. And is the type we need to round off our future group of talls.

I think we will possibly be ready to contest the big dance from about 2022, thru to a few years on... Although come 2022, just 2 seasons away, our key current tall players will be aged the following >>> Max Gawn... will be 30Yrs old, entering the 2022 season. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--max-gawn Steven May... will be 30Yrs old, entering the 2022 season. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--steven-may Tom McDonald... will be 29Yrs old, entering the 2022 season. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--tom-mcdonald So what I am looking at is our ability to continue having strong representation in the top 4 of the ladder, from 2022, and onwards; not tapering back away, after 2022. The following group of Talls, will be the ones to come-on... behind our ageing brigade of Talls. Hopefully we get a seamless handover from our elder talls, to the new breed of talls coming thru. IMV, Peter Wright is that heavy-set tall we Need, who is a forward and a ruck... an area we are deficient in Power. Jackson might deliver us the agility/mobility type. Petty might deliver us the utility forward/back, who can also pinch-hit in the ruck. Weideman likewise, predominantly forward, can go back, can pinch-hit in the ruck. Sam Weideman... will be 24Yrs old, entering the 2022 season. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--sam-weideman Harrison Petty... will be 22Yrs old, entering the 2022 season. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--harrison-petty Luke Jackson... will be 20Yrs old, entering the 2022 season. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--luke-jackson Austin Bradtke... will be 21Yrs old, entering the 2022 season. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--austin-bradtke # Peter Wright... will be 25Yrs old, entering the 2022 season. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-gold-coast-suns--peter-wright Austin is an unknown quantity, at this time.? Summing up, the heavy set Wright would be a great diverse addition to our tall groups skill-sets, around the ruck and forward. He will be able to crash-packs, where ever. He, Wright and the agile Jackson, IMO, would be a formidable ruck/forward combination. .

I agree, but not for dusty, but for our failings at developing players, over the bulk of our time. We have to become More footy, as a club. We are almost more a business-man's club, than a footy club. And this is a big part of our failing. Our attitudes. - - - - - - - - We refused to talk to Dusty. This is the type attitude, I am referring to in our recruiting strategies. We would go for a Scully, who Ironically looked down on Us, and left, asap. This is the type of craap I want us to lose from the club. That Holier than thou rubbish we carry off field, as a club. And with some in here, on this forum

In two years time, 'DD'.? He'll be 30 come September 2022. This year he turns 28yrs. Jeremy Cameron is the same age as Tom. Weide and Petty will both be both into their careers by then. And Peter Wright will be around the same age. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-gold-coast-suns--peter-wright https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--sam-weideman https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--harrison-petty https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--luke-jackson

Send the dogs off-leash to Yarra Park, Jolimont.

'Cal', I would prefer Melbourne seek out 2 Metrix Peter @the Suns, well over and above, Joey Daniher... for next year; or for 2022_? Even if it costs us TMc, and OMc, to get it done. Maybe Ben Ainsworth could be added into that mix.?
-
I truly dislike the perception that this club would make a choice between draftees, Dane Swan and Trent Cotchin, based on an ability to present well. I would hope speaking ability has absolutely nothing to do, with our recruiting decisions. We ware not recruiting bloody barristers, nor politicians. # And Dusty Martin says high and thank-you, to Melbourne's past recruiters.
-
If only we had all players who spoke Via their actions on the Footy field, instead of their mouths. I don't care if they're missing their front teeth and drooling, as long as they are champion players.

yes you do, dc. A heart transplant, my friend. ?

Yes, the highly specialised Surgery he underwent. Removing a part of the calf muscle strands group, which were problematic. Complete removal of one of those muscles, from his legs. -
This is much much more than just a protest... to the people...dc. its obvious. And i feel it as well. Even from over here. You see; the PC type people only see the things that scare them, in these passionate protests... And fail to see the real issues. That the people are severely hurt from. How do you feel, dc, when a Black Person is killed at the hands of the police forces in the US.? Seems you care more for goods, property, material items, Over peoples welfare. Black people's welfare. # Black lives matter.!
-
geez, talk about assumptions dc. tell me how many have looted, how many have been violent, dc? And how many police have been violent dc? what about the police assaulting the journo's, dc.? shooting at them and firing tear gas bombs at them.? So I take it you think, that they all deserve what they get, in racism and police brutality, every day; because they are black skinned, and so must be from the dark side.? DC. And I suppose there is NO chance that Trumps team had anything to do with the small fire in the back of the church, across the road from the "White House".? Which, the very next day, Trump had his security team tear-gas the nearby people, so they could clear a path to that very church, just for a live TV photo Op. Electioneering at his worst.
