I disagree with what I know of the players at the top end of this year’s draft. In JT I trust. In saying this you may well end up being correct. I’d still prefer we gambled on a 10-12 year elite mid over a 28 year old Houston. Adding players at Houston’s age and likely cost doesn’t excite me with our current list profile

If we paid pick 5 for Houston we’re banking on the big 4, May and Lever playing at close to AA level. Along with that we’re also banking on a revised game plan, the continued growth of our youngsters and the form and fitness of our mid tier group and the continued form of Houston. It’s only if all that happens are we going to push for a flag and for mine that’s the only reason you’d take Houston over pick 5. It’s a massive gamble and I’m not a gambling man. I actually think if all the above happened and pick 5 was a plug and play midfielder we’d be almost as likely to win the flag. So why take Houston at the likely asking price?

Thats all fine but when a top 3/4 player in the league wants out of your club it’s a big story in any one’s book. Of course the media are going to be all over it and of course people are going to react. I’m pretty sure in one of your posts your tone towards Petracca showed a level of dissatisfaction. Time to move on...... I know it's quick and you need to process but he helped win us a Flag and he may of just forced the club to make some overdue changes. I also know many on here, including myself, took a few swipes at him but footy remains a game where supporters expect their players to remain steadfastly loyal. That is unless a trade suits us, which this one didn't. Either way I'm back on the Tracc wagon for now, I think you should jump aboard

I did flip flop a few times through the season. The Adelaide wins probably got me a bit over excited from a whole club perspective and I excused the loss to Brisbane the week after. The youngsters gave me hope for next year but that’s evaporating into thin air thanks to the last few weeks. I’m hoping trade period gets me up and about again. Oh and I’m a terrible gambler hence I never do it.

Rivers potential as a mid looks sound, McVee is nowhere near ready and is so accomplished at HB you’re robbing Peter to pay Paul. Tholstrup is also a fair way off. He has some solid attributes but he’s got a long long way to go. We desperately need Oliver’s best back to be the extractor along with Viney. We simply must get 2 “Windsor” level mids through the door this draft period.

It’s a nothing read

We desperately need to adjust our game plan and we all know that will take adding some skill and pace. It’s all about mids for most of us. We’re not going to find backup for Max next year unless we trade out Petracca for McKay/TDK so it’s likely JVR again. I’m disappointed that it appears we’re not linked to any mid 20’s quality mid from another club. If we start next season with the 21 midfield again and think that running Rivers through there is going to be enough I think we’ll struggle to do much better that 6-10.
