  1. Aren’t Jack and Ollie Wines very close mates? Would think that would be the reason he would go to PA, rather than Wines leaving. I’d prefer a player swap if this was to go ahead, they have a few lively flankers we could do with
  2. Particularly because we have Preuss, he may not be as good as Max, but we are not losing too much ground there in pure ruck terms
  3. Don’t mind the idea. Max is having a decent season, but individually, he’s not winning us games. Some better system around a lesser ruckman would still improve us immensely.
  4. Nor was he hard-edged. He would be a good compliment to a Clarko type, but doesn’t seem like he’s a stand alone leader
  5. And an extra 10kg (allegedly)
  6. There’s still plenty of time for Clayton to get better and I hope he does. I think our mids need an older, wiser head in there with them to call the shots so they can just play. We don’t have a very high IQ midfield unit at present, could do with someone to keep them all in line and to know when to put the foot down or slow things up.
  7. I firmly believe we need more skill and leg speed, but I also believe we could do with a midfield & forward general who can call the shots and keep everyone on page. A true onfield leader - Think Pendles, Selwood, Danger, Boak or similar in the middle I’d say we are still 5-6 best 22 players off the upper echelon. Two more proper guns and then 4-5 players that are always in the side because they turn up and perform every week. Aside from Max (Arguably), we don’t have a single player that would be the best in the comp for their position. Realistically we only have 3-4 players that anyone else would want to actively chase. Compare that with Richmond, WCE, Brisbane, GWS or Geelong and you can see just how far off we are.
  8. I mentioned this article in another thread. He knows how to get the inside blokes working (Jobe, Kennedy (swans), T.Mitchell) I remember seeing something with Tom Mitchell and Diesel and their relationship was working wonders. Available to each other to discuss tactics, review or plan ahead. There’s plenty of smart ex-footballers around that could be used independently by our guys, I wonder if they get the freedom to do that? It’s embarrassing having one of the best rucks in the game and making him the oppositions best weapon each week.
  9. Would like Diesel Williams to have a word to our guys after reading his comments on Paddy Dow. I think that is typical for a lot of our side. Also, Cripps went and sought him (Williams) out to get better, can’t imagine our guys doing that
  10. The Fyfe or Mundy type is exactly what we lack, a steady and consistent older head to show how simple the game can be. They have learned from Nathan Jones who wasn’t exactly known for composure or leadership
  11. It’s extraordinary that he had his best ever game and then immediately fell off a cliff. How did that not turn into a 6 week purple patch? From all reports he’s a very hard worker and I’ve heard Macca day he is the guy who would at the club all night if he could. He looks to be double guessing himself all the time, I want them to release him and just let him play
  12. Fritsch for a first/second rounder and Rivers a 3rd - not sure I agree with that. More likely the opposite way round. If I was picking a team, Rivers would be well ahead of Fritta
  13. The analysis from the Fox Footy crew post game and Gaz in particular was spot on. We have a bunch of blokes trying hard as individuals but we don’t have a group trying hard together. Having a go is one thing, but as I’ve said about Viney previously, it’s to the detriment of the team. Also, Justin Longmuir said all the things I wish we’d be seeing. He wants to back his blokes to play to their skills and most importantly back each other. There was a lot of filthy looks from our blokes toWards each other tonight
  14. That kick to Kossie in the last quarter was unforgivable. Max has zero game sense. Admittedly he’d just taken a good defensive mark, but had blokes free laterally and also had Steven May screaming at him to let him know. So he kicks long to a contest with the smallest bloke on the park
  15. I think there will be too much interest in those three for us to have a chance - no picks, not enough cash, so best look elsewhere
  16. That’s where he’s playing currently, from what I’ve heard, he was recruited as a forward-mid and played all his junior footy there in outside roles
  17. Anyone got any interest in Sam Petrevski-Seton from Carlton? Forward-mid that could potentially add some outside run and carry to our mix. In contract for 2021 but he’s got some tricks
  18. There’s a lot on this list who are simply not up to it. I’d be all for wholesale changes to find a few that may surprise us - we have nothing to lose because we are getting very little from 90% of the list. Of the above, I’d move Melksham, Hannan and VDB down a rung. They are good 1 in every 4-5 weeks. That’s simply not enough. Even if I don’t necessarily agree with Goody’s methods, the bare minimum to be an AFL player should be to turn up and give 100% every week. He’s got an impossible task with such inconsistent effort. We need to get a core group of players who have confidence and belief in their ability. Our guys turn to water as soon as any heat comes. Maybe we need to invest in psychologists and teachers
  19. Understand that completely, but both of Fritsch and Melksham don’t do it and they don’t seem to be judged on that alone
  20. This is one of my pet hates, we need different types all across the ground, not robots cut from the same mould in different heights and weight. Goodwin is particularly fond of the boring inside types and we play a style of footy that reflects it. Aside from Petracca occasionally, who else can break a game open with creativity and flair alone? in the period where Goodwin is coaching, any individual excitement has been coached out of our players and it is so sad to watch. We make the game so bloody difficult, so a half-fit Harley getting 15 high quality touches could be the only that gives supporters a reason to tune in next year.
  21. He’s just not strong enough now that opposition coaches actually plan around him being there. He misses so many shots on goal that a permanent forward should make, it’s getting ridiculous. I’ve said previously that we have far too many passengers and he’s been one, so maybe he’s not in the boys club that gets spoken about regularly? Plus, the late to meeting thing sounds so bizarre, there has to be something in it?
  22. Harley at 80% has them both covered, just need to get him there
  23. What do we get of value for players that haven’t got games, in a team that’s been absolutely putrid, for 1 1/2 seasons?
  24. The way both have been going this year, he could take either spot depending on form. Demonland is often very accepting of poor form with Jake Melksham being the prime example. I got shut down for saying Shaun Higgins was a better footballer than Jones and the same will happen here, Gunston is an upgrade on Melksham and Fritsch. We need people that can perform for the majority of game time over continuous seasons. Melksham and Fritta don’t and haven’t done that as yet. They need competition for their spots too and Gunston is a smart operator, he’s had days out against us on a lot of occasions.
  25. I think next season will still be compromised in some sense and if nothing else, the disruption to his family wouldn’t be worth it. I certainly would not have picked him this year, let alone next, but if the club thinks he’s adding something different to anyone else, that’s on them. If we were a strong club depth wise, there’s no way he played this year.
