  1. would gladly give up our future first for saad, maybe with a swap of later picks in our favour. Saad has elevated himself to an A-grader this year, he has elite speed, elite kicking, and very good defensively now. Has improved his game dramatically this year, and he's exactly the kind of player we need, and will allow Salem to push up to a wing. His trade value is mid first round.
  2. This is spot on. Oliver, Brayshaw, Harmes midfield in 2018 was the best cohesive balanced midfield in the last decade imo, Oliver does the dirty work getting it brayshaw whilst harmes shuts down the oppo best mid and then pushes forward off them. Add Petracca in there who can break a game a part and then give blokes like a fully fit and confident harley, jackson, kozzy a pinch hit through there to throw a different look at the opposition.
  3. In my opinion Brayshaw and Harmes compliment Clarry and Trac perfectly. Brayshaw gets the handball receives and Harmes does the defensive work. If we can get a first round comp pick for Viney we should take that and then look to on trade it for a classy defender or forward.
  4. This is all spot on. Sinclair would be a nice fit. I don't rate cumming either, he was a turnover merchant in the first few games this year, instead another Giants role player i'd have a look at is Adam Kennedy who seems to be pretty solid defensively and wouldn't cost much at all. I'm not too big on O'Halloran, he was drafted as an inside mid so wouldn't get much opportunity with us. 3 players highest on my want list is Zac Williams, Harry Perryman, and Rory Laird.
  5. No thanks, would rather move Salem up to a wing and use our money to chase Zac Williams.
  6. I rate brayshaw very highly because he offers something different to our other inside mids. For mine let viney walk and use the money to get zac williams. Also not sure why people on here are keen on players like merrett and cerra, trading brayshaw for an inside mid doesn't solve the problem at all we'd just be playing them out of position. We need small defenders to replace jetta and hibberd, and/or another classy small forward.
  7. Preuss and Hawthorn 2nd for Perryman and Bobby Hill
  8. My bad I didn't know this rule regarding free agency. If we were 100% sure we had convinced Williams to come to us I would still let Viney go because we have the players to cover his position, Williams adds something we don't have. I love Viney he's been massive for the club but if the move could improve our team I'd still do it, but only if we were 100% confident on Williams, i'd resign Viney if not. Laird would be nice and showed his worth tonight, I just put Sparrow in there because he'll be stuck behind Trac, Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw, Harmes for inside mid opportunity for the next 5-10 years, he's an SA boy and adelaide could use him.
  9. These are a few moves i'd look to make this off season: Viney walks in FA for band 1 or 2 compensation (nets us either pick 10-14 or end of first round pick) Sign Zac Williams in Free Agency with the cash we would've used for Viney Trade Sparrow and Hawthorn 2nd round for Rory Laird Trade Viney compensation pick (mid or late 1st round) for Harry Perryman, GWS 2nd Would also look at prying away some of GWS untapped talent such as Ian Hill, Jackson Hately, Xavier O-Halloran, Jye Caldwell In: Zac Williams, Rory Laird, Harry Perryman, GWS 2nd Out: Jack Viney, Tom Sparrow, Hawthorn 2nd
  10. Thing is with Salem is doesn't seem to be able to kick those low spear type passes, instead he seems to have a 'chip' style kick. The chip kick is very effective around stoppages where he has great vision to accurately spot a teammate, however it doesn't work so well in the back half when the defence is set and able to cut it off because it gives the defence a lot of time to react to it. I'm a believer that Salem would be much better utilised on the wing where his chip kicks are more effective around stoppages and kicking inside 50. He could be our so called 'quarterback' at stoppages where as the inside winger he hangs at the back of the stoppage waiting for one of our inside mids to handball to him where he can be the kicker out of the stoppage, similar to how Josh Kelly. Salem's best features is his vision, decision making, and chip kick execution. I think Hibberd is a great example over the past few years of a half back flanker needing that spearing kick to break a line, Salem simply doesn't have it in his trick bag, but Rivers does. Salem onto a wing and rivers in the backline would do wonders I reckon.
  11. I'm not saying we should trade Oliver, I'm just saying we won't get anything for Brayshaw if we get him. My opinion is we should let Viney walk then Brayshaw will be able to play inside mid and we get a good pick and cash to chase an outside classy player.
  12. There is no point in trading brayshaw because we won't get any value at all for him, the absolute best a team would give for him is a second round pick, which especially in this year's draft doesn't have much currency to trade on for a need or will be good enough to pick a player that will have a big impact in the next few years. Trade Oliver or let Viney walk as a free agent for mine. If people want an outside classy player trading Brayshaw won't be enough to secure a player like that. Gotta give up value to get value. Brayshaw will also a better player by losing one of those 2 because he will actually get to play inside midfield.
  13. I don't think people are necessarily pointing out Jack as the issue, the issue is that too many of our mids have the same attributes, in particular Jack and Clarry. Regarding Brayshaw I don't understand how the coach and the supporters expect to him play well when he's being played on a wing, he doesn't have the pace, running capacity, or foot skills to play on a wing, of course he's not going to play well because that's not the position he's suited too, his form isn't going to turn until he is put back into the inside midfield and left there. One of the big reason's why people are saying Viney needs to go is because of the timing of the contracts and value. If we trade Brayshaw we wouldn't get much value at all, and he still has 2 years on his contract that we would probably have to pay a bit of. Viney on the other hand is free agent that would net us most likely a top 10 compensation pick and cap space to target a position of need. I love Jack as a player and as person who has done so much for our club, and he has significantly upped his game this year and carried our team at times this year, but in my opinion he makes the most sense to let go because of the timing and fit.
  14. I believe we can only play 4 of Oliver, Viney, Petracca, Brayshaw, Harmes. In my opinion Oliver and Viney can't play in the same side together because they are both instinctively handball first players, they often put each other under pressure when they should be clearing the ball forward. Brayshaw's first instinct is to kick the ball, this is why Oliver and Brayshaw work well together I believe. My preferred midfield mix would be Oliver, Brayshaw, Harmes, and Petracca with Langdon, Tomlinson, and Vanders on the wings. Goody please just let Harmes go back to being a tagger, genuinely had such a big impact in this role in 2018 as he not only negated the best oppo mid but also kicked goals on them. Like Dusty, Petracca should be a forward half mid as he such a big impact up forward as well. This allows Oliver and Brayshaw to roam the full ground and then rotate for Petracca forward when they need a break. We then just need our outside mids to be solid, all of them have pretty good defensive accountability and cover the ground very well. Very harsh but I would leave Viney out of the side. I love everything he's done for the club and his passion on the field, but the hard truth is that he just doesn't function well with the other mids at our disposal. I think we have a real opportunity to get good value for him this off season. If we let him walk as a free agent this off season it gives a massive chance to chase a big name in a position of need with that free'd up 600-700k that i'd imagine he would command. Not only do we get free'd up salary cap space we would also most likely get a first round compensation pick due to the size of his contract an opposition club gives him, which would fall the next pick after our first round pick (which belongs to north), which looks like a top 10 pick. The obvious player to go after with the cap space is Zac Williams, as he would cost nothing being a free agent and fill a massive need for us with his linebreaking speed and kicking off half back, and is very good defensively. Joe Daniher is the only other free agent I'd look at but I believe Weid's development this year has been good enough that we don't need him. If we can't get Williams i'd be looking to trade the first round compensation pick for Viney for a similar style player. Harry Perryman, Rory Laird, Jordan Ridley all players i'd be looking at. If we could somehow bundle up a package for Josh Kelly that would be the big one.
  15. I reckon someone like the saints would give him 650k+ which should be enough for 1st round compo
  16. Let Viney walk in free agency, we get a first round compensation pick, use the cash to get williams. Brayshaw goes back to inside mid, we get a great ball user off half back in williams, and a top 10 pick.
  17. May has been great down back this season and has been for his career. However I think he actually could make a really good full forward and would pair well with tmac, with tmac getting up and down the ground at CHF and may playing out of the goalsquare. Weideman or Brown should be given the first crack at the second tall forward but if they can't produce then this swing could save our season. It pretty much comes down to would you rather play weideman/brown or Omac/Smith? For mine I would rather have the talent in the forward half of the ground and I thought Omac at actually did a pretty good job in round 1 playing on darling.
  18. In: Jones, Salem, Bennell, Jackson, Rivers, Weid Out: Lockhart, Bedford, Spargo, Neal-Bullen, Brown, Hibberd B: Jetta, May, Lever HB: Salem, Omac, Rivers ? Langdon, Oliver, Tomlinson HF: Melksham, Tmac, Jones F: Pickett, Weid, Fritsch R: Gawn, Viney, Petracca I: Brayshaw, Harmes, Jackson, Bennell Can't see us playing jackson as the only other tall forward along side tmac. Marc Mcgowan reported that at todays training neal-bullen, brown, bedford, spargo all playing in the 'B' team. Only other possible change is maybe joel smith plays for omac or if lever doesn't get up.
  19. B: Jetta, May, Lever HB: Salem, Omac, Hibberd C: Langdon, Oliver, Tomlinson HF: Melksham, Tmac, Jones F: Pickett, Weideman, Fritsch R: Gawn, Viney, Petracca I: Harmes, Brayshaw, Neal-Bullen, Hannan Would have AVB or Bennell in for Hannan if fit. Harmes rotates in the backline. I think Salem and Jones were two big outs as they are just about our two best kicks in the team. I'm tipping Jones to have a big year across half forward like we saw in the pre season, he will significantly improve our forward entries as well as finishing goals. I'd tip us to win all those games from rounds 2-5.
  20. Here's how I think the draft will pan out. The draft night trades i've got occurring due to teams getting in front of academy bids is: Adelaide trade pick 4 to GWS for pick 6 + 2020 first round pick Melbourne trade pick 8 to Freo for pick 10 + pick 22 1. GC - Matt Rowell 2. GC - Noah Anderson 3. MELB - Hayden Young 4. GWS - Luke Jackson 5. GWS (Sydney bid) - Tom Green 6. SYD - Sam Flanders 7. ADEL - Dylan Stephens 8. FREO - Devon Robertson 9. FREO - Lachie Ash 10. FREO (Carlton bid) - Liam Henry 11. CARL - Brodie Kemp 12. MELB - Caleb Serong If Kysaiah Pickett is still there at our pick 22 we will snap him up, if not Elijah Taylor would be a nice alternative who has a ton of x-factor, reminds me a lot of Daniel Rioli. I'd also like to see us package up our 2020 fourth rounders to get into the third round of this years draft to take Ned Cahill, and then take Sam Lowson in the rookie draft. Suddenly we have Serong, Taylor, Cahill, Lowson all to fulfill our small forward/forwards role and then there is still room for Bedford, and Spargo to improve, our small forward stocks will be looking nice.
  21. One way to target Freo's pick 7 and 10 is to say we are going to bid on their NGA kid Liam Henry at 8 which actually does make sense from our points of view, he's a similar if not better small forward prospect than Weightman, he is a better crumbing player with more x-factor who has been likened to Walters. By my understanding Freo would have to use 10 to match the bid so it would make sense for them to trade up to 3 to get a better player than they would at 7. We still get weightman at 10 so it essentially would be 3 for 7 and 8 where Ash/Kemp/Stephens should be there.
  22. Has to be Hayden Young, he's the best kick in the draft, is an elite intercept mark, provides a lot of overlap run and is also very good defensively, he's even shown a contested side to his game this second half of the season. For a HBF has no weaknesses that I can see, reminds me of a taller bachar houli. He's exactly what we need perfect, hibbo replacement and allows Salem to push up on a wing if we need.
  23. Now that it’s official GC get pick 2 this is what I could see unfolding/what I want to happen this trade period IN: Tomlinson, Elliot through Free Agency - Elliot would be a good get, gives us a small forward we have been crying out for - Tomlinson has lowered his colours a bit this finals but he’s simply still better than any wingman we have right now so still an upgrade on what we have IN: Langdon, pick 7 OUT: Pick 3 - Win-win for both teams, freo prefer this because they would lose our pick 21 in the henry bid and the players that suit our needs in the top end of the draft will still be there at 7 IN: Pick 26 OUT: Frost to north - Sounds like frosty is gone, if we can snag a early to mid second I’ll take that IN: Pick 11 OUT:Picks 21, 26 to GWS - GWS get more than enough points to use on Green and keep their 1st round pick, we move up the draft were its said there will still be good players there at 11 - Western Bulldogs pick 12 could be another option as they will need multiple picks to get Bruce and Keath IN: Tomlinson, Elliot, Langdon, Pick 7, Pick 11 Out: Frost, Pick 3, Pick 21 Other moves I’d like to see: - Target S.Gray or Butler for cheap - If Jenkins came cheap and didn’t have to pay him much I wouldn’t be against it but I’d rather back in Weed for next season. If he doesn’t show anything next season we should be throwing everything at B.King or Cameron - If we could get a top 10 pick for Brayshaw or first rounder for Viney I would look at a deal - Gaff and WC first rounder for pick 3 - I don’t get what the hype is about splitting the picks with GWS, it’s said there’s a big drop off in the draft after about pick 12 and pretty much all these players mentioned to be in the deal such as Caldwell, Bonar, O’Halloran, Hately are all inside mids which doesn’t help our team at all. USE Pick 7: Young/Ash/Stephens (all high quality outside players) - Serong and flanders will go inbetween 3 and 7 so one of these guys has to still be available USE Pick 11: Weightman/Kemp/Gould/McAsey - Weightman probably best fit but if kemp slides we must pick him BEST 22 B: Jetta, May, Hore HB: Salem, Lever, Hibberd C: Langdon, Oliver, Tomlinson HF: Petracca, Weid, Melksham F: Fritsch, Tmac, Elliot R: Gawn, Brayshaw, Viney I: Harmes, Hunt/Hannan, Vanders, Young/Ash/Stephens
