Email from the Board
Nothing new here. What I would like to know is when the feasibility study is due to be finished and the site announced. Either we get agreement from all stakeholders and commence construction or agreement canāt be reached and we move on to plan B. We canāt keep going around in circles. Iām prepared to give Bartlett and the Board until the end of this season to have the plans finalised and a date confirmed to start the build otherwise he has to step aside and give someone else a go.

Patton allegations
Iām obviously not up to speed with what the youngsters are up to these days (and Iām not sure I want to know tbh). Didnāt realise this was widespread practice. If heās an entitled ahole then throw the book at him. If he has been threatening, aggressive or abusive then he deserves criminal charges and a day in court. If heās mentally unwell then get him the help he needs.

Patton allegations
His behaviour has been roundly denounced and far enough too. But you do have to wonder about the blokes state of mind. Either he has a gargantuan sense of entitlement (quite possible) or heās not thinking straight. I mean how could anyone be so oblivious to the obvious consequences of these actions? Apart from possibly ending his career he will be an object of scorn and ridicule as the posts in this thread bear out. Not trying to make excuses but his career has been blighted by injury and frustration. Who knows what mental demons drove this bizarre behaviour? Maybe he needs a shrink and some professional help rather than blanket condemnation.

None of players look out of shape or in need of more fitness training in fact i'd say they all look in good nick.

TRAINING: Wednesday 6th January 2021
He may indeed not make it but he has real physicality and can take a strong contested grab. His kicking style is a concern but heāll be working with the best in the business in Chocco. He was a speccie selection for sure but his upside is enormous. All depends on skills development from here. Iām hopeful.

Trump v. Biden
The one good thing to come out of this crazy episode is that Trump has alienated a lot of his enablers and poisoned any chance of winning the 2024 republican nomination. Lyndsay Graham, William Barr and Mitch McConnell have all turned against him. His treatment of Pence has been disgraceful. When the pressure came on, Pence acted constitutionally. Heās the early front runner for the 2024 nomination. And another good thing is that Ted Cruz has tarnished his credentials irredeemably with his shenanigans in the senate. That guy is as dangerous as Trump!

The five players you want to have an impact in 2021
1. Clarry ā figure out how to harness his full potential and get him working in tandem with the rest of the midfield unit and weāre well on our way 2. BB ā kicks the goals. If he can win the Coleman we finish top 4 3. Weid ā takes his marks and contributes 35-45 goals 4. Trac ā aim for Dusty level 5. Melks ā somehow rekindle 2018 form and provide the supply to BB/Weid Honorable mention: Lever ā freed up to assume intercept role. Hoping for a Top 5 B&F placing Fritsch ā finds his kicking boots Brayshaw ā 2018 version please

2021 Full Fixture
I originally thought there must be a middle ground whereby a controlled border approach with some crossings allowed could be established. Tourism has been badly impacted so why not try to keep that and similar sectors afloat? Once Victoria reached zero transmission and life returned to normal (or at least a lot closer to normal) I changed my mind. I enjoyed having my liberties back and would prefer to keep them.

2021 Full Fixture
Agree in principle but Iād send Qld to NSW. The Lions had a big home field advantage last year so not fair they get the same advantage 2 years in a row. Perhaps the QLD restrictions preclude this (Gladys and Anastasia having been butting heads for months). And if i'm not mistaken I don;t think Port or the Crows had to hub anywhere last year either so sending them to WA seems fair.

Heās going to be a brute. Hopefully we can develop his skills to match the physique. If we do heāll be a serious weapon.

Knee still heavily bandaged. Hopefully just a precaution.

TRAINING: Wednesday 6th January 2021
In his interview Ben Brown said the deck was immaculate and the gym facilities top notch. Covid or no covid I think the team should be training in Casey.

Fraser Rosman must have forged his birth cert! He looks 28 rather than 18.

Great to see him in the colors. Listened to his interview. Articulate and well spoken. Heāll be in our leadership group for sure.

Our game plan
That bit wasn't self evident to me. The rest is spot on.

2021
I was able to spend more time with the kids which has been a real silver lining. In all other respects its been a year to forget. Hopefully the Dees can finally get their act together in 2021 and who knows maybe land that elusive flag.

TMac on the Trade Table?
Nothing wrong with backing in hard work and effort but surely thats the base level expectation of an AFL footballer. And especially a $700k a year footballer! I hope his foot heals and he can make a contribution when needed but he is not best 22 and I donāt want him getting in the way of the younger players like Petty and Jackson who need game time. I donāt want to see him pushing Weid out of the team either. Weāll have injuries so heāll get game time but Iām not holding out hope that heāll return to 2018 levels or even close. If he can cover for injuries and play half decent footy in the process thatās the extent of my expectations as far as TMac goes. Who knows, if he plays well enough when he gets his opportunities he might be able to sign a contract with another club next year and we can get his wage off the books.

Off-season outlook: Pressure will be on Melbourne and Simon Goodwin
As captain of the ship he has final say on game plan, selection and in game switches. The coaching group will provide input but itās his call ultimately. Why do people say he doesnāt listen? There isnāt a shred of evidence to support this. If he doesnāt listen then Pert has just wasted his time adding Yze and Williams to the ticket. If the review had revealed this in Goodwin then he would have been out the door already. The more I think of it the Freo game will be the perfect barometer of whether the off-field changes have made a difference. If our midfield functions properly and our delivery to our forwards is reasonable we should win. If not, Freo will beat us. Their team isnāt as mature as ours but they are better coached. They wonāt fear us. There can be no honorable defeat, no positives or ālearningsā to be had. Lose and the jungle drums will start to beat loudly.

Our Clubs Best Midfielder of the 21st Century
A few of the high draft selections since 2000. Fair to say didnāt go as planned and goes a long way to explaining the paucity of options when discussing our best midfielder this century. Thankfully our recruitment has improved recently with Oliver, Petracca and Brayshaw. The less said about pick 4 the better. 1 ā Tom Scully (2009) 2 ā Jack Trengove (2009) 4 ā Cale Morton (2007), Jimmy Toumpas (2012) 11 ā Jordan Gysberts (2009) 13 āMatthew Bate (2004) 16 āScott Thompson (2000) 17 ā Sam Blease (2008) 19 āJames Strauss (2008)

Our Clubs Best Midfielder of the 21st Century
Top 3: 1. Clayton Oliver (and he can get even better) 2. Daylight 3. Jones (3 bluey's and almost 300 games)
