  1. He looks to be pretty athletic, gets around the ground nicely, good below his knees and good disposal in general play and when shooting at goal. If he hadn't had a bad run with injuries, it's likely he would be ranked well inside the top 10. I think some clubs still rate him highly, despite his injuries. Have heard that the Dees have taken a good look at him. Could be wrong, but recall Wheatley doing a bit of assistant coaching at Eastern Ranges, so he could well have done a bit of scouting in that capacity. Pretty decent profile up on afldraftinfo: http://www.afldraftinfo.com/2009/10/ben-gr...svic-metro.html
  2. From Burgatrons Phantom Draft '06. Thought it might be interesting to revisit: MITCHELL THORP Tassie Devils, 25 December 1988, 194.1cm, 86.4kg So where does Thorp stand in this draft? He is widely regarded as a top six selection, but invariably in this draft meeting, even players of that ilk can slide - for a number of reasons. He could be snapped up as early as No.4 to the Brisbane Lions, yet he it would be a massive surprise if he lasted any longer than No.12 at Melbourne. The Saints will be waiting to see which player slides through - they will snap up the best available - and expect recruiting manager John Beveridge to do just that with his club's first pick. The Saints will also be eagerly awaiting the outcome of Collingwood's opening selection at No.8 - with Riewoldt strongly linked to both the Magpies and Saints. St Kilda would be over the moon to recruit Riewoldt to play with his brilliant cousin. Should Riewoldt and Thorp be out of the equation, as well as a 'slider', expect the Saints to select one of North Ballarat's Nathan Brown (key forward), Armitage (midfielder) and Southport's Brent Renouf (ruckman). Highlights/achievements: Strong marking and mobile forward/defender who can play on ball. Showed great promise for Tasmania in VFL playing 10 games and also won All-Australian honours at U18 level. AIS/AFL Academy Graduate. From the Northern Bombers in Tasmania.
  3. Think I posted this in another topic which drifted onto Griffiths, seems pertinent to bring this link back up here: http://rangesfc.matchvision.com.au/player/ben_griffiths
  4. I'm all for Griffiths at 18. Sadly my opinion<kidney bean on draft day. Less than a month to go now...
  5. When does his contract with St Kilda expire? October 31?
  6. Jack's Our Man Another article on JT...lock him in. http://weekly-times-messenger.whereilive.c.../jacks-our-man/
  7. Butcher. Still rated as the best tall, and for all his flaws would be an absolute steal at 11. 11 is about Talia's rating, whereas Butcher should still be ranked at about 6 in this draft, but some chance to slide to 11.
  8. Did a hamstring not long after the Champs. Calder put him cotton wool, saying getting him right for his AFL club took precedent over TAC Cup commitments. Was never a top 5 pick, more looked at as a pick 10 – 25. Apparently a good athlete and highly competitive. Be more than happy to get him at 11 and he should be in the mix. Port possible takers at 8 or 9.
  9. From an 'Adelaide Now' interview with Matt Rendell. Young gun Trengove earns rave reviews http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0...0-12428,00.html
  10. Burgan only rated Draft Camp invitees. These two didn't score an invite, hence not rated in his posts.
  11. Looks like he's just rating the draft camp invitees at this stage. Temel wasn't asked to attend. Be interesting to see where Matt places him in his Phantom Draft.
  12. He needs a what? No wonder he went off the rails!
  13. JT running the game out well, just drawn a Nathan Buckley comparison from one of the 5aa commentators.
  14. Most likely a GC17 recruit. Some speculation that he was the gropee not the groper (maybe the girl involved was a groupie?). Geez the football louts start young these days...
  15. FWIW Emma Quayle was asked for a comparison (on twitter) and said 'JT, not sure. Might sound weird but a few of the things he does - floating marks - reminds me of Hird. But he's a more pure mid' On Scully 'TS is a bit like cousins just in terms of his gut running. He runs and runs and runs and is still going when all the others stop'
  16. What are his chances of being picked up by the Dee's, and are his initials 'AS'?
  17. Could see Essendon having a pop. Collingwood could use him on field (off field, not so much).
  18. Would be a bad move for Sydney to give up their first rounder for the shag. Wonder how Ryan O'Keefe feels about a move to Melbourne these days? Could he be part of a deal for Fev so soon after signing a new contract?
  19. It's a beautiful thing. I have a 1 year old daughter who gets tucked in with a Melb FC teddy bear everynight. She never had a chance either. Thanks heaps for the updates mate much appreciated. Listened to the game over the web. Must have been great to watch, sounded like a cracker, and JT really seems like those players who wins you grand finals. Hard bodied players who win contested ball when it's tough (think Chapman, Ablett), and use to advantage more often than not. Priceless in September.
  20. Mitchell's a potential gun, but bottom age, possible Gold Coaster next year.
  21. As far as footy fandom goes, today's been pretty sucky for me: http://www.theage.com.au/news/rfnews/scull...3385038110.html
  22. Not live, but more footage: http://www.sanfl.com.au/news/sanfl_news/968/
  23. Cannons to keep an eye on are Carlisle if he's fit, Jake Melksham, Robbie Hicks and Serhat Temel. Of the bottom agers, Luke Mitchell, Wallis and Liberatore have shown a bit. Read that Griffiths was injured in the first quarter and didn't return.
