  1. Always happy to be proven wrong, however the attitude around the joint seems to have taken an enormous backwards step from what was built in 2018 and seems to be what continually holds us back from any sort of success. Last year the players were playing for one another, the coach, the fans - you felt there was that genuine connection. I don’t think that means we take a win at all costs attitude, but a collective mindset similar to what the Eagles, Tigers and Pies have adopted in the last few years built on having an enormous amount of respect and care for one another from all aspects of the club. Whether that be coaches, staff, players, medicos, ceo etc. everyone needs to be involved. I’m optimistic that this years disaster will galvanise the group and make them realise success and respect isnt given but earnt. Someone has got to take charge and lead this club properly, and apart from nailing some personnel changes in the off-season, making Max Gawn captain is crucial imo to taking the club back to a position where the premiership window may be open.
  2. Absolutely mind boggling decisions. Soft decisions from a soft club. I’d have at least thought that we’d have held onto Stretch before both of those two.
  3. I named you 9 of the ten you asked. Since you claim to be all knowing about players being traded re Elliot, do you have any more inside trade goss you’d like to share? Also how many times do I have to say that I dont believe that everyone we get in is going to be a best 22 player. Stop trying to bend what I’m saying to suit your agenda. On your logic, the draft seems to be sham and is only worth going to for players below a second round pick. James Hird was pick 79. Im not saying we’ll find him, but even we’ve had some luck at the back end of the draft. Nev Jetta is just one, even Cam Bruce was around pick 65 I recall. I’m of the firm belief that we need to be putting time into players that could have a greater potential than those that have shown they arent even great depth players. I dont think you understand how development works. Continually giving time, money, resources and games to players who have shown they arent up to it is a waste.
  4. Agree. Here's hoping we'd be asking the right questions around him re money and any potential picks. Can't imagine Adelaide would have much bargaining power given how bad their relationship is with Jenkins now.
  5. A pricier upgrade on a rookie listed player thats for sure. I'm slightly coming around to the idea of him especially after saying he'd take a massive paycut to play at another club. On a side note though, would we be paying anything in terms of picks for him?
  6. Alright hero here you go, I may have overesimated one spot but I’ve got 9 for you. Tomlinson Langdon Elliot Pick 3 Pick 38 Pick 56 Pick 74 Pick 2 Rookie Pick 20 Rookie
  7. Gotta remember he was playing against 17/18 y/o kids up until a few months ago. A full pre-season and the games he played this year are going to be invaluable. Same goes for Lockhart - both of them have a bright future ahead imo
  8. Next to no one improved or was the same as 2018, we fell that far off the cliff. By your logic I’d be delisting all but Max Gawn and Frost. We will be getting 2-3 players with decent experience through trades, leaving about 6-7 spots through draft and rookie selections of which there will be at least 2. Last year we drafted 6 players. Most teams do roughly the same. Stop making up numbers that make no sense, its getting ridiculous.
  9. Yeah nah good of you to start getting into who said and meant what at what time, if you're going on that then half this forum would resolve to the rubbish you're putting out now. I don't think I could have been any clearer when I said that of the 8 we re-signed, I agreed with Corey, Lockhart, Smith and Baker. Yes I understand the realities of a list and that not everyone is going to cut it and be part of the seniors at every given moment. What I have a problem with is management re-signing J Wagner and ANB whilst they have consistently had opportunities and proven to be duds that fall into the senior team. That is 2 spots on a list that could be filled by fresher faces with greater potential
  10. Here's the part where I didnt say that...like at alll...
  11. Couldnt agree more. If I ever have to watch Josh Wagner go about 5th man up in a pack and complete f it up I will spew up. Wouldn't mind a bit of character around the joint, we are about as vanilla as it gets
  12. Please name the 16 players we're tossing out, you only managed 11 in your comment, then come have a proper conversation. If you had any idea you'd have read my earlier comment where I agreed with half of our 8 re-signings...The only two I really cant accept is ANB and Josh Wagner. Just FYI - We had 10 list changes at the end of 2018. On what I was suggesting we would be making around that many this year which is a pretty standard number across EVERY club. Once again I never said we need 40 best 22 players so stop claiming that I'm sick of repeating myself. However we need more quality players capable of performing competently at AFL level or at least pushing the performance of the senior side up. Honestly could anyone have said this year that players were under any sort of pressure playing for their spots in the side??
  13. Better quality than what we have already. Half of these blokes are probably on more than they should be and have had their chance on a good day and blown it. We've lost 6 players already and 3 of which were were on rookie spots which are always a low risk high reward. So we've really only losing 3 players that were around the best 22 mark, all of which will be replaced by trades and high end picks. We would have been that much better off cutting a few more of the list-cloggers that have continually shown nothing to save money and invest development into fresher faces. Argue all you like about some of them having AFL experience, but that means diddly-squat when half of them average 10 touches in games that have been gifted through injuries. Just FYI Losing: Lewis Maynard Stretch (likely) Bradtke Garlett Keilty Smith Replacing: Tomlinson Langdon Elliot (a chance) Pick 3 player Player at pick 40ish Player at Pick 60ish Rookies 1-2
  14. Not sure what you’re implying, but our lack of good depth players got seriously exposed hence why we finished second bottom of the ladder. Richmond had just as many injuries for the better part of the year and were able to stay afloat. All the players I mentioned have had a decent crack at AFL level and proven to be spuds. Obviously we cant just delist 10 players in the off season, but at least a few more should have been moved on.
  15. Pushed ??! They literally fell into the team because of injuries
  16. Yes depth is important, but most of the guys I mentioned are never going to be good enough to push into the 22 if everyone is healthy which is what we need. Look at who is missing out for the Tigers - Townsend, Jack Ross, Dan Butler, Pickett, Stack... Most would get games in any other team. Compare that with some of our re-signings, only the Suns would want them. Everyone talks about the bottom six of the 22 - equally as important is the 6 after that putting pressure on 1st team players.
  17. ANB has to be hanging something on the footy department. How he has a 2 year deal is unfathomable and is exactly the kind of decision why we’ll be stuck as a mediocre team forever. Other than that at their very best, Lockhart, Smith and maybe Baker could be best 22. The others - not a chance. Happy with Corey Wagner on a rookie spot, however re-signing Josh seems like a mistake.
  18. Good luck until we get our own training base - which will be yonks away. How would we fit in our AFL, VFL and AFLW sides into AAMI park with the Storm, Victory and Rebels??? Also recall our VFL side being very successful for the better part of the last 5 years
  19. Tom Browne is in the Sam McClure basket of casting the widest net possible. The more you say the more you seemingly get right, it's an absolute journalistic farce. Half these journos have already ended up with egg on their faces from players re-signing that they were signed sealed and delivered to other clubs. The key words there by Browne are "multiple clubs" "with money" - which could mean literally half the teams in the comp, and he'd be happy to take the credit if Elliot lands at any of the clubs he mentioned. Don't believe anything it until it happens.
  20. Is there still any possibility of the Suns receiving that priority pick after the bottom 10 teams have all had their first rounders? Would at least seem fair for most clubs, especially those towards the bottom of the ladder. Everybody seems to be harping on about how deep this draft is, so wouldnt a later pick work just as well? But I mean honestly, how can the AFL keep rewarding a club with these picks?? Used pick 2 or 3 (I cant remember) on Lachie Weller who is a genuine B grader, played Jack Martin in the 2s for half this year and will walk this year, let Jarryd Lyons walk for almost nothing to the Lions - just to name a few.
  21. Yesterdays final and the one against the Lions showed he shouldnt be playing down in defence. Looked much better in and around the ball when competing against Grundy or back of the stoppage when along the wing. Genuinely seems like he can play any position on the park. Was soundly beaten by Grundy’s hitout game in the ruck but laid some crucial tackles and made some good clearances around contests. Pederson’s flexibility was a massive help to the team
  22. Thank God.. Come on down Tomlinson and Elliot
  23. Has been better along the wing. Disposal has been poor - although not too many have been great by foot in these conditions
