  1. As opposed to telling them they have to watch out for dog poo on the oval and share the showers with 80 other blokes?
  2. Yeah good point mate, can understand that. But at the same time, it's not like they moved to St Kilda or somewhere close to the CBD. They're still a while out. Just think the Casey option is one that could get a lot of financial support and gives us the most freedom, as opposed to trying to turn a small corner of grass next to the freeway into an elite facility, while still training on the same oval we're currently on. I'm not pushing for it, I would much rather we have a home base close in, but it's just not happening for us and we can't keep falling behind IMO.
  3. Wasn't saying they were all comparable from a geographic point of view. Just saying that those teams don't train in their actual suburbs, let alone near the CBD or the MCG. As I said though, my opinion is players would rather drive 40 minutes than 10 if it means they get actual elite facilities. Just my opinion though, haven't done a survey or anything. Plus, being a professional organization who wins games would be more deisrable than just a great location, otherwise GWS and GC's situations would be reversed.
  4. There's a tough solution to all our problems. Turn Casey into our training base as well as our VFL, VFLW and AFLW home. Fair chance we could score enough money from the government to turn Casey fields into an elite facility with community links, as well as developing the stadium into a 20-25k seated venue. This could also raise the possibility of us arranging a deal with the City Of Casey to play a home game there every year, which could replace the Darwin game. Hawks players drive out to Waverley, Saints out to Moorabbin, sure it's not ideal but my opinion is the players would prefer an actual elite facility that's a bit of a drive compared to sharing the showers with a bunch of other teams. Yeah it's not the ideal answer, but how many more years do we roll with poor facilities while we wish away the time waiting for some kind of imaginary land to appear next to the G. And just to put it out there, I don't WANT this, but I do want an actual solution.
  5. Interesting timing of you saying that given things I've heard this arvo. Don't be surprised if that's the case apparently.
  6. No doubt that's the main thinking, just think we may end up using him in a few roles and unless we bring in a true KPP this trade period I reckon he might spend a bit of time forward.
  7. I know all our initial instincts are wing, but I think he could be a bit of a poor man's Jesse Hogan for us with his size and tank spreading our forward line like Hoges used to.
  8. Yep, had him on my shopping list in the assistant coach prospects thread. Things seem to have gone a bit quiet about him, but I remember a few years ago there were big raps on him. Hoping all the senior coach changes this year result in some good assistants available as the new coaches setup their own teams.
  9. Yeah far enough. I'm not in a panic about our list, but I just think not every recruit is "sexy" and we need to improve our list all over, including our depth. Tends to be a standard response on social/forums to shoot down ideas if they're not a chance for the Brownlow. (Not saying that's what you were doing btw, just a general comment).
  10. Perhaps read my reply after that post mate.
  11. Sounds like it might be a bit of a mutual decision, so I hope Pert has some tricks up his sleeve for cash going forward. "But the long flight to Darwin to play in 30-plus degree heat has weakened Melbourne’s desire to continue. But Alice Springs, with its shorter flights to Melbourne and cooler weather in the middle of the year suits them well. The 2020 AFL draw will not be released until mid-October. But sources say Traeger Park in Alice Springs is the only NT ground you will see the red and blue jumpers running around in next season." Gold Coast Suns tipped to play major Victorian club in Darwin coup
  12. Lachie Whitfield looms as the biggest free agent of the 2020 class and Lyon wants the Dees to go “all in” on him. “Here’s some unsolicited advice to the Demons. Save your money,” he told SEN Breakfast. “Save your money with Tomlinson and go all in on Whitfield. All in. “Get everything out.” Lyon urges Demons to go "all in" on star 2020 free agent
  13. The Suns have apparently taken over our Darwin home game as of 2020. I haven't been able to get a lot of info as yet, but seems like we will still have at least one Alice Springs game, but Gold Coast will play a "major" Victorian club (so, likely not us) as the home team from next season. This ties in to the news already out there that the Suns have been given Darwin as a recruiting zone. Source As well as the earlier reports of the Suns being in discussions with the NT: "GOLD Coast is in ongoing discussions with AFL Northern Territory about the possibility of forming a mutually beneficial arrangement." 14. Fair enough. Can see how you meant that now reading it with that context. Yep, and I never tried to imply he's lightning quick by any stretch, but I still think "has good speed" is a fair comment IMO. Just reckon you possibly need to be a little careful when accusing people of racially stereotyping simply because you have a different opinion on a certain players attributes.
  15. Also, you said: "This is also a seriously quick Geelong line up. Probably quicker they even need because they'll look to introduce Rivers, Christensen, Enright and maybe a couple of others in for finals who aren't in the side but it's important to have the speed and run to keep up."
  16. This isn't a serious statement surely? I simply said he "has good speed", and you're trying to infer that he's in fact slow and I've racially stereotyped him, rather than actually seen him play. What an utterly ridiculous and offensive comment. You're more than welcome to email BOTH the clubs he played for and accuse them of racism if you wish too (see below). "Allen Christensen is a fleet-footed midfielder with the ability to push forward and hit the scoreboard." Source "Another of the Cats’ band of fleet-footed midfielders" Source "His speed and skill will only add sizzle to Brisbane’s midfield." Source "Allen Christensen and Steven Motlop have injected speed and skill" Source
  17. Well spottd.
  18. The difference between someone with a severe gambling addiction and someone with a severe gambling addiction? You're right, I don't see the difference there.
  19. So you would want Goodwin sacked then yeah?
  20. More than the Lions who had him in their leadership group this year?
  21. Uncontracted for next year and has a lot of things we could do with. Obviously has good speed and can kick goals, but he's also won a flag and was in the Lions leadership group this year. Would turn 29 during next season. “Personally I have a bit of contract stuff to work out. I love the group but I will wait and see,” Christensen said. Trade talk: Lion Allen Christensen fears his Brisbane career may be over
  22. Officially re-signed. Not going anywhere: Star Roo stays loyal amid trade speculation
  23. It possibly does somewhat unfortunately. May come down to what role the Hawks want Yze for in 2020 as opposed to the role we want him for. He's still contracted to the Hawks, but clubs generally let assistants go if it's for a promotion. If Burns leaves it does hurt our chances a little IMO.
  24. Bugger, just started a thread because I didn't spot this one. Work your merger magic DL.
