  1. Could potentially be another week or two before anything official is announced. Contract details etc are still being sorted out apparently.
  2. Yep, they would have had 5 years playing together there. Then Richo was an assistant at Collingwood 2006-08, so maybe 12-18 months with Pert.
  3. Don't know tbh. I know footy people say he's a level headed operator, which I guess is handy for a footy manager role, but aside from that I don't really know what his strengths are.
  4. There's been non-official or club-linked talk from footy people that Richardson could step into Mahoney's role, Tom Morris has spoken about that possibility in the last couple of days too.
  5. Yeah for sure, there will definitely be no shortage of options for him and his ruckwork has been quite good. He's now done an apprenticeship under two of the best rucks around so could be a real asset. I don't blame him at all if he moves on now to get more of a shot. Doesn't seem to have the agility or tank to be that 2nd ruck or ruck/forward so can really carve out a good career as primary ruckman. Good call on the ruck contest numbers too.
  6. Would think given the season is still going (not for us of course), exit interviews have just happened, players are being re-signed, coaches are being hired and fired, and of course the review is reportedly close to wrapping up, Pert would be quite busy at the moment. I don't know a lot about the review underway, but given the comments by Bartlett during the year and the pressure he's under; I would be very very surprised if it was a minor review.
  7. Average hitouts over the last 2 years: Gawn 36.1 (12.3 to advantage) Preuss 20.2 (6.9 to advantage)
  8. You must have an awesome life if you feel the need to come on a footy forum and take personal shots at people you've never met. *Adds another one to ignore*
  9. Not everything gets posted, some things I message to a few quality posters, too many trolls and psychos get fired up otherwise, as evidenced above.
  10. Cool mate, having internet enemies is really grown up.
  11. I'll put my hand up and say I got it wrong. The same thing happened the first time I thought he had signed, he had been offered a contract and was expected to sign and I either took what I was told the wrong way or was misled somewhat. Either way, my fault, and I'll cop it on the chin. Still waiting on the same posters that are harassing me for this mistake to say thanks for all the info that's been correct, but I get that's not the 'Demonland way'.
  12. Ripper kid. Rapt with this. Rivers extends until 2023
  13. Was credited with vastly improving the Hawks' kicking skills while in charge of that area. Worked his way up to being match day/strategy. Kicking skills and strategy. Pretty perfect for us.
  14. Just to be clear, that's just a bit of a hunch from 'connected' people, it's not been officially talked about. If it was to happen, it definitely does feel a bit like you mentioned with contracts and vacancies tying our hands a bit,.
  15. Haven't heard specifically as such, but the impression I've got is that Mahoney and Goodwin have a bit of a clique which has meant Goodwin has had more say than maybe he should have. We've seen some good assistant coaches move on with the feeling being they were ones who challenged Goodwin (not in negative ways). Goodwin is seen as a pretty stubborn coach who doesn't utilize the strengths of others properly, something he has been 'talked to' about by some senior club people now. There's also been some other context with Mahoney being groomed by Jackson as his successor, only to be overlooked by Barlett for Pert. Personally, my take (from the outside) is that while Mahoney has done really well with trading; his management of the footy department and especially coaches has not been anywhere near that level.
  16. Heard the same, although I was told Leppitsch is a very good chance. Your intel seems even more feasible though given Leppitsch said he was walking away from footy. Yze will come on board as senior assistant, contract details being finalized, done in the next week or two. You couldn't pick better strengths from a coaching point of view for our needs. There's a feeling that Richardson may take over Mahoney's role, but a few things have to fall into place for that. I think it relies a bit on the review and then potentially also what Leppitsch decides, although that's all speculative at this point given the nature of this time of year.
  17. Not the point. You already put Smith down as one when you said: "Enough defenders? Like who? May and Lever are our only locks for taller KP players, and even then Lever isn't suited. There's word that Oscar is off, and we are hoping that Petty goes forward. And the less we see Smith in the team the better." Then you said: "This to me tells me Tomlinson is playing back next year. I think we have a number of back up options for that defensive role, and strongly believe Smith is about 6th on that list." So either you're putting Smith down in the key defender category, or apparently all of May, Lever, OMac, Petty and Tomlinson are what? Small half backs? To be fair, you said months ago you'd stop watching if Jones got another game so you probably haven't seen what positions players are in,
  18. Will admit to not watching a lot of the Hawks the last 2 years, but statistically speaking he hasn't dropped off. Remember this year games were 20% shorter and his disposal numbers went down by about that same margin.
  19. I believe he and his family think of SA as 'home'. It's where his family are heading now for the break, hopefully not any longer.
  20. Great news. Both great fellas who are rated highly by the club.
  21. Baker would be a year or two off his peak, so having Smith there to learn from during that time and take the pressure off could be really beneficial for him IMO.
