Surprised some are so against this decision. Green aside, surely it's a good move to have a former footballer on the board of a football club? Will only help to facilitate the connect between the board and the footy department and help to give the board even more clarity around how their decisions effect the playing group and coaches.

Ah damn, that was one of the assistants I thought we had coming. Can cross that one off now then.
-
Yze, whose title is technically 'senior assistant', will be in charge of the midfield in 2021 apparently.

"Rennick joins the Board with more than 25-years’ experience in the legal and property industries. He is currently a Partner and Global Board member of Pinsent Masons. Prior to that, he was Head of Australia for Pinsent Masons, CEO of an Australian law firm and a Director of an ASX-listed property development company. His responsibilities encompass leadership, people and client strategies and management. Rennick’s areas of expertise include master-planned community projects, property development, corporate, commercial and retail real estate." Bartlett: "His experience is of great benefit regarding our top off-field priority, of building and establishing our home base and training facility within the MCG precinct.”

David Rennick and Brad Green will join Melbourne’s Board next month.

Maybe. It's possible there will still be a surprise or two in trade period, just a hunch. I'm more wondering if we can use the points system to our advantage given we're likely to have a density of picks between say 30-50 through a combo of our existing picks and trades. There's also future pick trading that could happen.
-
Just guessing, but maybe a future 2nd rounder, or a pick we get back via trade/s or potentially even trades and pick swaps as it seems like a complicated year for the draft points system etc.

100% mate. McCartney seemed to balance out the Goodwin 'nice guy, corporate speak' vibe IMO. He was hard on the players, but he genuinely loved them and wanted them to be their best versions. Also think Jennings was a loss for us and potentially Rawlings too. We didn't really replace them with equal quality I reckon. Plapp, Mathews and more will be gone, Yze and a couple of other quality names will come in, it has the potential to turn around quickly if it gels. There seems to be big changes going on everywhere at the club, from the board down, so I take heart a bit from that that they're not just sitting on their hands.

Have explained previously a few times, have a close mate who chats to a bunch of former Dees, some who are still involved at the club. Not up to me if you choose to take me seriously, talk footy or hang with the trolls and play the man. If you think my posts aren't worth your time then just block them. I don't understand the mentality of your mates here (who are now ALL blocked finally) that like to follow people around on a footy forum taking pot shots at people they don't know. I've posted enough things here that have been true that the people who are genuinely here to talk footy will take it on board. If you wanna talk footy I'm all ears.

I don't know much about potential draftees tbh. I think I remember reading somewhere he has good speed, is a good kick and can hit the scoreboard though, so that would be handy? Someone like @dazzledavey36knows way way more about draftees than me.
-
Yep, and I apologized for that. Chances are I read it wrong. TBH I just saw "Egan" and just automatically thought he was gone as it seems weird to get a message saying he's staying. I went back to check some messages so I could post something in another thread and I saw that message about Egan and realized I posted the wrong thing, so I came back on here to apologize and correct it. I get that on Demonland most people would rather just play the man than admit a mistake.
-
Yep, my bad. Apologies.
-
The rumour I heard was Preuss and pick 23 for pick 9. Didn't get much clarity though so gut feel is that would be the opening offer from the Dees.
-
Yep, as Beetle said. Sorry, should have clarified that.
-
Nah, not Macrae from what I heard. Don't want to mention the specific person just yet tho. (Sorry, know that's annoying) Yeah, and Leppa is probably more likely to do that, but the Dees have approached him anyway so never know.
-
Sorry mates, scratch that. Either I read the message wrong or my mate changed it, but I just saw "Egan" and thought he was gone, apparently he's safe!
-
I'll put my balls on the line for ya mate. A few things have already happened, but got some whispers (of varying degrees of source quality) to tide you over. (Need the distraction from the Grand Final tbh, depressing) OUT TMac - All depends on medicals (ankle injury). Player and club want the change, opposition interest will determine it. ANB - Apparently some interest from the Crows. Not a lot of noise tho, but tbf he's not an exciting player to talk about. Preuss - Melbourne will try and do a deal to see them go up the draft order. Very keen on Macrae, who they think will be available at pick 9 (which coincidentally is likely the compo pick GWS will get for Williams). Coaches - Plapp and Mathews gone. Very likely more to follow them. Admin - Told earlier in the year Mahoney is likely gone. Haven't heard anything lately though. Richardson talked about as a potential replacement for him. Very very sketchy at this stage so don't bank on this one, but not sure Bartlett is 100% safe either. Other - Still think Burgess will leave (hoping he doesn't of course). IN B.Brown - Pending physical, which will determine the club's interest and offer which likely then determines Brown's decision. 2nd round pick to North and a 3 year deal on 500k for Brown is the price. I know some here have talked about his nature/personality, but apparently after the zoom meeting Max was absolutely sold on him. I.Smith - Very likely, but not a done deal yet. Saints Player - Told we were chasing a 'young, quick' Saints player. Others here posted they heard Hind was being mentioned, so could be him, potentially could be Long. Coaches - Leppitsch has been approached, ball totally in his court. Another former Lion also approached to get involved with the club in some capacity too (not Voss). 2 other highly rated assistants in the pipeline, but promised I wouldn't say.

You can look that up for yourself if you want to know, I'm not your personal google. Clearly though, logic says if you're turning it over less in your defensive half then you're scoring more from the defensive half also. Our defensive half was miles better this year.
-
Points conceded from defensive half turnovers 2019: 30.7 (#18) 2020: 17.6 (#4)
-
Hunt being moved from the backline and Frost being traded weren't coincidences.
-
Egan apparently gone now too.

Another great big Neeld era recruiting stuff up...
Lord Nev replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
In the article it mentions Craig and Todd Viney were recommending Sellar. -
I don't not want him per se, but we're looking at 2.7 marks and 0.4 goals per game here... Handy for depth maybe, but unconvinced he's going to make us much better. (For the sake of statistical comparison - TMac averaged 3.2 and 0.8)

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Lord Nev replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't know mate, only interest I've heard of was the Collingwood talk in the media. Not sure on Dogs, first thought is if he's too slow for their style? Could the Hawks be an option? They love an injured recruit. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Lord Nev replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hard to know, there's so many moving pieces this time of year and situations can be complex. I don't know how keen Brown is/was, he did have a zoom meeting with Mahoney, Goody and Max which apparently went really well. Given that, they're must have been at least enough interest from both sides to do the due diligence. I haven't written it off totally as a possibility, bu the rumours are it's unlikely atm. TMac requested a trade, club was (and still is, as far as I know) happy to facilitate it, but his contract, form and injury concerns have kept any interest lukewarm at best so there's definitely a chance he's still with us next year.
