  1. I had a colleague Pies supporter at one of my previous employers. Would always get stuck into me about Range Rover driving, ‘off to snow’ Dees supporter. You wouldn’t believe the look on my face when he was showing me his new car on his phone that he bought when he made partner and how he took it for a spin up to his holiday home in Bright.
  2. Agreed - but with our long kicks into the hot spot, its easily defendable. Would need to move the ball much faster and have better inside 50 delivery to exploit the benefits of this line-up.
  3. Maynard is a bloody good defender. He can cross the line a few times and be a little macho but i like the mongrel in him. Its not the Melbourne players' [censored] don't stink (apologies for the crude analogy) as well and we probably have multiple players that opponent fans cannot stand. I recall the rumours of him coming to Melbourne as well - not sure how real they were - but May, Maynard, Lever would have been an awesome FB line.
  4. The Rozee, Hunter incident to me was one of the toughest incidents to date and yet really it was Jordan Lewis that was leading the cause that Rozee was contributing equally to the incident. I think more are starting to jump on this bandwagon and ultimately we will get to a point where the AFL will need to issue guidelines on how to enter a contest and clearly define parameters on where a player will be protected by the AFL and where it will not. Rozee is clearly opening himself up to significant injury the way he attacked that contest. The Cerra incident was surprising to me, it is very similar to the McCluggage - Sicily incident as far as biomechanics are concerned. Sicily was just unlucky in how McCluggage made contact with the ground and how he was concussed. The AFL just have to come out and define what a reportable tackle is, i.e. pinging one or two arms, head making contact with the ground, two motions etc. Whateverway you look at it, the Cerra case was clearly the incorrect outcome.
  5. With Sicily, his 'pulling down' motion invites a sling outcome based on simple Physics (look up centrifugal forces). Im not entirely sure how much Brockman contributes to the outcome, but McCluggage had entered the spin before contact was made. The concerning aspect to the hearing was the AFL's insistence on trying to disregard a biomechanists' professional opinion. This follows similar actions by the AFL tribunal like excluding precedent as a form of evidence, making the whole tribunal process rather subjective, unreliable and susceptible to external influences and given the MRO's performance to date add further uncertainty to the whole situation. I think this will be reformed over the coming year. Taking a step back though, we can all see the goal of the AFL here - protect the head. They are trying to introduce a slow transition to a game where head contact and concussion are all but eliminated. Doing this in 1 year would be disastrous to the commercial aspects of the game... on the flipside trying to 'boil the frog' is probably not quick enough given the information at hand and pending litigation, which could completely bankrupt the entire organization. As much as i hate it, we have to accept that the game is changing to protect AFL players wellbeing. The tackle and the bump - still to this day - account for the majority of concussions experienced in game. Doing nothing is negligent.
  6. Well if they do go for him, they are going to be overstocked on tall forwards. Maybe we can nab one of them in a trade or OOC.
  7. Only if JVR is sent to the 2nds or the resting ruck is off the ground or behind the ball. It wouldn’t be the worst setup and I think will exhaust every forward combination possible that the club could implement. I really liked Smith in the forward line - it just felt so much more mobile than BBB and TMac. He has to play for the next 2-3 games to work out whether he settles there.
  8. I always thought Hugh McCluggage looked a bit like Marnus Laburschagne
  9. I hear everyone. But the argument the way is nobody from Geelong gets on the v-line for a Thursday night game at the G robbing their members and in essence making it a Melbourne home game. We would definitely have a case if the game was on any other day/time, perhaps that is why they insisted with a Thursday night game.
  10. Clearly someone who is 9-12 years old...or at least has the intelligence of one, which doesn't really help us at all now i come to think of it. Apologies for wasting a post.
  11. Not sure if this has been picked up in the prior 24 pages, but some of our inside 50 delivery - particularly to corridor area 40-55m out from goal were really silly. Collingwood were able to out number and win the ball back then rebound with their handball game into our F50. We were able to stop them most of the time and when we did it did more or less result in a score but it is a dangerous game allowing them to that - it is their 1 wood and they are very very good at it. We have to be more intelligent with our F50 entry and I'm not saying kick to the boundary, but if we are going to kick into that zone, we really need to try to be better with our structure. Having Kozzy and Chin ready for the ground ball get or F50 tackle is paramount while ANB, Spargs need to block the lateral exit and our midfield need to create that defensive wall. Port are very good at this and i think if those two teams were to play each other at full strength and best form, Port's game is more reliable. Doesnt guarantee them a win, but it really stagnates Collingswood game plan and that is how you beat them.
  12. I'd love to keep Gus in the D7 and have Bowey move into the F7 rotation. It wont happen but hopefully that is possibly what we are working towards. Gus is not having a great year either, but hopefully he is building up to better form like the rest of the team. In his defence that stoppage goal from Crips in Q1 was more a result of a poor Max hit out than Gus caught ball watching but Daicos in Q4 was poor from Gus but also the whole team.
  13. It’s how Geelong win games… without that ground they are just middle of the road over the last 10 years.
  14. If we can pip the Cats at Gmhba then watch out. It’ll be 3-1 following the loss to Port and would mean we have taken some genuine top 8 teams. Still need to win another 7-8 to make top 2.
  15. Even tonight he said that the Pies and Dees are the two favs. I don’t know you can so easily cast out Port.
  16. I missed out today unfortunately but what was the balance of supporters? It felt like we were there with some numbers as the noise from the Pies supporters wasn’t as loud as I thought it would be on tv.
  17. Seriously how is he even running given he almost lost his leg and was discharged from hospital over the weekend? I was hearing that Geelong was even potentially even in doubt at one stage. Also @WalkingCivilWar what was the secret thing the guys were training? The only really difference I noticed was the high press on the ball carrier. There was a bit more corridor usage today but nothing anomalous.
  18. Was just a stinger - he mentioned it in the post game interview.
  19. Not wanting to take the polish off but Kozzy is really going through arguably career worst from. He is lost at sea and Goody really needs to sort it out. Not sure whether it’s droppable territory yet, but he is not performing to anywhere close to his best. Two very gettable set shots are telling he is down on confidence otherwise he is one of the more reliable set shots. Every player has em but he has been off since he got suspended and nothing to indicate he is shaking it off.
  20. Yes they were clearly off their game from a running perspective. I don’t think it was that significant though as we really clamped them down given our defensive structure and forward half pressure.
  21. I agree, he and JVR need to be a lock and allowed to settle. Petty goes down back or we send the resting back man to go behind the ball.
  22. No one takes a break and meets at Goschs for goal kicking practise everyday until their collective hammies fall of the bone (figuratively)
  23. If they win this. …. FMD.
  24. I can’t watch this [censored]
