Nervous AF. Lose this , lose top 4 and the pressure kicks in and a downward spiral we haven’t always been good at breaking out of.
-
I honestly thought we did in Kozzy getting more mid minutes … but he’s been lost this year.

The stats tell a different story. We should have beaten Geelong, GWS and Freo. The culprit was kicking accuracy. Trac is usually the player with the highest scoring involvements and he is still playing. We have Contested footy in all three of those games (I think) and outside the brain fart in the 4th at Kardinia we were dominant. IMO the issue is our forward mix and confidence in set shot kicking. Gawn at FF is not working and the sooner the coaching staff realise this and change it, the better. We have to be more mobile and something like BB at FF, JVR, Smith, Melksham, Kozzy and Chin are setup to do that. The solution however doesn’t stop there, the delivery is important and we have to honour short kicks into the 30-40m zone.

100% Oliver coming in wouldn’t have changed our forward connection or scoring conversion. Most teams can win without 1 of their stars. We have a team full of em. No excuses.
-
Clearly was tendon all along.
-
My view is that there was a hammy tendon involved and hence the longer recovery time.

Clubs sniffing around Ginnivan. Doubtful it’s us but he would definitely add some flare.
-
Which draft year are we looking at? 2024 or 2025?
-
He is just frustrated. He wants to play but his body is holding him back. He knows the club is under huge pressure and he wants to help. Selwyn is just trying to keep him calm. I don’t know why anyone else can’t see that. He is only human.

Overrated is not the right word but I know what you mean. They are both champions of our club and will go down in history, but I think they are not complete footballers as todays game demands. They tick all the boxes in contest, power, endurance but lack the finesse and game iq. That is what holds them back from being elevated to the next tier alongside the Ablett’s, Franklin etc.
-
He has definitely been carrying something , we knew it was stood on already in pre season and the load of playing footy was probably slowing down recovery. They took a chance on him getting through the season and it didn’t pay off. Can’t really blame them. Think May I’m the 2021 GF. You win some and lose some.

Some of this is 101 forward craft. I think the issue is a combination of player IQ / composure and coaching. IQ - not using the free target or player in better position and long in targeted bombs into the hot spot. Compusre - fumbles, panic, long bombs etc. Coaching - No forward line structure (crumbers at the fall of the contest) , too tall , no movement in 50, hotspots kicking etc. I don’t think the coaching staff are this incompetent. I mean this is U11 tactics. I think a lot of this has to do with playing Gawn and Grundy in the same team and the coaching team are trying to make this work. Having Gawn in the forward line permanently is costing us atm. This is what Goody was referring to in every post game presser. Not sure what the fix is but Gawn needs confidence back and that is playing 80/20 ruck/ forward.

Put him in cotton wool and get him ready for next year. Move Kozzy into his role and give the kid a role to play as he is as lost as the city of Atlantis. There are many other factors we need to get right to win a flag other than Fritta. He won’t be the difference either way and that foot hasn’t been right all year.

I agree re 30 rounds or so. I can count a handful of games where we have played extremely well in the last 2 years. The fact is you can’t be out of form for nearly 2 years. Every team has a good day now and then - but it’s the way we play week in week out that tells the story. I think we are talented in the way the game used to be played. The newer game doesn’t suit us as we don’t have the speed nor skill. Either we reinvent a newer version of our old game plan or we restock our list and get with the program. Either way I think our chances for 2023 are on a knifes edge atm. We’d need to be turn things around and win 4-5 straight to resurrect a level of belief.
-
We are not winning this one either. Goody will be outcoached again. Saints will win by flooding backline and then score in counter attack. They have the ball movement skills and athletes to pull it off. Just wait and see.
-
Josh Kelly just always seems to lift against us and is rarely sighted for the rest of the season. It’s more than a coincidence now . Id love to understand the motivation, because it definitely is there.
-
He lacks composure. He rushes himself which leads to fumbles, high pressure kicking etc. He needs to watch McVee move and learn to move out of pressure situations before disposing the ball.
-
Gawn is bordering on as a liability. If he keeps this up …
-
And what did we do to overcome that tactic? Our game day coaching belongs on the G….at half time for the aus kickers
-
This team is just a joke.
-
Maybe that’s the problem? We think we have the list to win another one. Our list is out of balance. We need 2-3 elite ball users off half back and in the HF area that are reasonably big bodied (ie not Salem / Bowey) and are good natural athletes.

Yibbada yibbada that all folks.
-
This game will be lost at selection. Grundy/ Gawn and BBB in f50 together is so horribly wrong. That trade has ruined our teams cohesion.

Langdon is soooo [censored] now. What happened to him.

GWS will correct their setup.
