I get tendon - but has it actually ever been quoted as such? They said it’s near tendon but nothing definitive. In that context a retweak makes more sense that it being tendon and the nobody from the club saying as much.

Apparently Oliver’s extended time on the sidelines was due to him redoing his hammy a few weeks back. I don’t know whether this accepted fact and but I certainly had heard this too. It’s reliable source so hopefully that removes some of the mystery.

If Grundy does go, do we try to get Silvagni from the Blues as the more model 2nd ruck that has some forward craft? He looks to be on the outer to free up cap space for De Koning

As much as we all love him, playing Fritta fresh from injury in a QF, SF or PF is really a big risk - im not sure id be willing to take it especially with how we are covering for him now. Its a big unknown for sure and i'd love to get a game into him before he appears for us in a final. Unfortunately for him, the timing just may not work out for him.

I disagree. The one player that has had the biggest impact at Brisbane is Dunkley. He is the best defensive midfielder in the business and runs both ways. Dont need his skills they are elite ball users all over the park. Their biggest weakness was their defensive side . Not saying Fletcher / Ashcroft havent had their value, but Dunkley was the key acquisition which has made them a far better team.

Tigers are going to lose a number stars in the next 1-2 and will nose dive. Lynch, Riewoldt, Dusty, Cotchin, Grimes, Nankervis, Prestia will all be gone in 1-2 years time.

Melbournes had and will only have one wizard.

I think the youth on their list is more than sufficient and it is not the area they are in need of assistance. They are stocked in the middle - Wardlaw and Sheezel will essentially compliment their existing mature midfield in a year or two's time and it will be a pretty good midfield at that. They need immediate replacements for McKay and Logue. The answer is not young players accumulated through draft picks. Whatever compensation or AFL assistance they receive should be used to attract mature talent. Whether that be salary cap concessions, 'must-trade' picks etc. An early first rounder for McKay will be highway robbery but i think all the media discussion / speculation is all contrived to soften the industry response for something of that nature. I think the assistance will come as an end of first/start of second, which we should aim to take off them in exchange for Tommo. Lets not undersell Tommo, he probably makes most teams starting 18 and plays the lock down position very well. His age will be the most limiting factor.

Yep i think more so on the impact on Clarry and putting indirect/unnecessary pressure on him to be fit and healthy. I think he'll come back and play against Norf and get some match fitness before he is then really tested against the Blues the week after. I found what Yze said in relation to him joining the team for full training an interesting statement as the track watchers have already mentioned that he has been doing that for quite a few weeks. Was that perhaps an indication that he has recovered and now its all about building match fitness?

For those that disparage Damian Barrett's media work, DO NOT watch one of his most recent video on afl.com.au with Lloydy where he claims Adelaide should be sitting above MFC on the ladder and that Adelaide threw the game away. Seriously how is this guy relevant in AFL commentary - fair enough he may get the scoop on board room and footy dept politics, but he has no business or credibility in discussing actual football.

If Max keeps this up for the rest of the season, as in getting 1st or 2nd BOG, then he has to factor as AA ruckmen. English gets the stats but rarely has a significant impact on a game. The AFLCA voting will definitely factor in the decision making.

Who do you want to play in the QF? 1. Collingwood at MCG (Not sure on how ticketing works here but Collingwood most likely will outnumber MFC fans 70/30 or thereabouts). Probably the most likely outcome and they would not fear us. 2. Brisbane at Gabba: I don't think they have lost at the Gabba this year - probably the hardest team to beat atm and at the Gabba becomes a huge mountain to climb. 3. Port at AO: Winnable. i think we'd take a lot of energy into this encounter. A very unlikely scenario would be Lions / Port at MCG: , but we'd definitely have the upper hand, but a lot of to go right for us to get spot 2 on the ladder.

Ultimately it is stocking up on what we need. Our game plan will soon be on show at the Smithsonian - we need better kickers and speed that will compliment our insiders

He was never the quickest big bloke going around.

Today was another example of our need to load up on HB defender midfielder type. Trent Rivers is one and really the only player we have that fits that category. He needs a partner in crime or two. Reid is not this player. You can then move Bowey further upfield or on the wing. Not sure if that is Sanders or McKercher or someone else tbh

The Jack Viney Made Me Cry Thread
Gawndy the Great replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
He is playing Clarrys role. He is one that has sacrificed his individual game for the team. Hopefully when clarry gets a hard tag in future we can come back to this. -
Crows are a good team. Season on line expected nothing less today.
-
Our forward line has to be: Kozzy JVR Melksham / Fritta Chandler J Smith ANB (Woey bench) Just dont have room for BBB and / or Grundy to feature. Gawn has found a bit form in the forward line recently so I’d be up for one last crack of Gawndy before finals but I’d keep in JVR and J Smith - maybe Woey goes. Big question on Tommo into next week as he played another solid game today.

1st 3 quarters they were a non factor. Last quarter 1 questionable 50, 2 soft frees resulting directly in a scoring chain, 2 of which were part of a 3 goal scoring block is poor no matter what the balance of the game is.
-
Did anyone think Adelaide were just going to sit by and do nothing. Rankine’s season is done. They gave it everything. Umps were very poor in the last quarter and were directly responsible for 3/7 goals . promising sign was our response when the kicked 4 to start the 4th. What is concerning is that all 3 of the other top 4 can play that way with their running game off HB. Have to learn how to defend that better.

I tell you what watching live is far less stressful than TV. We look far more superior in structure but have been a bit clumsy with disposal and i50 entry. Nothing that cannot be tidied up.
-
I can see them running out of puff, but you can see that they’ll throw everything at it.
-
Should have been a throw in - he ran off the line of the mark while out of bounds.
-
Great game. Genuinely any of the top 4 can win it this year.

Rain delay … also good.
