There is absolutely no way Marshall doesn’t have a concussion test after last week.
-
Shoot out game. Don’t think Port can sustain this open style for too long given their defensive shizenness
-
His Brownlow favouritism must be taking a nose dive now with Bonts game last night and the fact that he hasn’t polled a vote in the last month.
-
That’s the game.

5 day break. AFL and it’s fixture equality.
-
The Dees. Rounds 1 and 24.
-
Just wait until the AFL have 19 teams and the Dees get a bye in Round 1, and the power clubs just happen to get them perfectly spread out throughout the season.
-
Good luck to them. Didn’t we just prove ruckman cannot become forwards? Rowan and King in their forward line is great on paper but is a massive risk. Happily take their 2nd round pick to make a play for GCS Pick 5.

Aliir Aliir & Lachie Jones in Concussion Protocol

And given that this could dislodge Port from Top 4, sends a very loud and clear message that could not possibly be misinterpreted again, ever. A suspended fine is just a slap on the wrist. Maybe they give them an option: 1- 8 premiership points and 100K fine 2- 5% of the compensation the AFL will eventually pay as part of current and future lawsuits on concussion. That should create a few genuine miagranes. -
2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Gawndy the Great replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is certainly something that will make a more significant and immediate impact. Perhaps its 1 or 2 players / coaches with 20-30% salary cap concessions over the life of their contract. Allows Norf to offer someone coming out of contract big $ to sign with them. Mature, seasoned veterans will do more in the short term to course correct the club, set standards and provide leadership on field than another 2 first round picks. -
I'd like to see TMac considered for the backline playing 2nd or 3rd defender during preseason and early season 2024..if and only if he get his body right. If Tommo decides to leave then he has the attributes to play that role. I still fancy J Smith as a forward - i dont know how you make it all fit together though. He is one of the better athletes on our list. Clearly lacks some skill and footy IQ but he can address that through training and development.

Absolutely. Given the suspensions being handed out for bumps / tackles resulting in concussions, the AFL will be taking a very serious stance against this. I dont think a fine is sufficient. If Port have been proven negligent, i'd push for premiership point deductions for attempted circumvention of concussion protocols - it is that serious that financial penalties will only be a drop in the ocean. By putting a contender out of the top 2 / 4, rest assured, others will take notice and will think twice before attempting to not at least put in a 20 min concussion test.- 251 replies

Geez, Trac really could have taken the lead in the last fortnight with none of his competition polling. Still time for him though with a good finish to the H&A season. If Max continues this form, you seriously have to ask the question on him and AA 7th jacket dont you? Logic dictates that its the average of performances across the season, but surely there is an aspect of who is actually the best and most impactful at the time of selection. Tim English, his nearest rival, doesn't have nowhere near the same impact on games and is more of a stats accumulator. I'm sure the selectors will find a way to get Buddy or Hawkins in and yet will elect to ignore this great man's amazing run in the last month.

Calf must have been a bad one. Hopefully they can send him off in their next home game so that we can avoid the extra incentive in Round 24. -
Have we officially found our full forward?

Harmes? serioulsy? McVee before Harmes in a blink of an eye. -
There is definitely some '21 vibes about us, however it also has a new look about it - maybe a sprinkle of our 2018 ball movement and offence. It seems that we are able to switch between the two different modes, which i think come finals is going to prove very useful. I'm still a healthy sceptic and don't think we are flag favourites just yet - you cannot deny what Collingwood have done and they are rightful favourites. The next 4 games will be a great indicator. Win 4/4 and i think at worst we'd be equal favourites with Collingwood. I have a watch on the other top 3. Both Pies and Port looked quite vulnerable and fatigued. The Lions without Ashcroft surely cannot be that bad - he is a 1st year player. So the next few weeks will be interesting to watch what these teams do. The Freo, Port and GWS games we lost, could have so easily gone the other way and had they, we would be challenging for 1st spot.
-
If we win the next 4 games. We will get the 2nd spot. Roos and Hawks are all but a certainty. Blues will be our biggest test, which you want going into finals to keep you finely tuned and Swans should be beatable even if it is Buddy’s last game, which he has probably already played tbh. Win the next 4 and our chances will be undeniable , even to the biggest of skeptics.

I just think it looks better than it is because of how fumbly some of our other stars are. Today was more of an exception though as he was very clean.
-
Yep forgot about Woey. That makes perfect sense.
-
I think we need to seriously consider resting a few for next week. We can get Hibbo, Sparrow, Smith and Grundy to cover a few players.
-
I think it’s relatively easy for 2/3. Clarry for JJ Sparrow for Harmes Fritta will be the hard one as it’s not a like for like with Melksham. Maybe it’s a Chandler.

This is a great form consolidating performance.
