GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Brisbane
We are winning , but the stats say that we are doing it little differently. Losing inside 50, easier to score against and less effective at clearances. Will have to reverse a lot of that against Lions to win. The Lions are offensively strong but are really poor defensively so we will definitely get our looks. Kick accurately, apply pressure around the contest and take advantage of our chances and we will win. Easy, right?

Taylor is the cream of the crop. Worth every penny as a KPD.

The more i think about it, its a waste of time and effort to go after a player that we don't need and would be bottom 4-6 anyway. We need to go after a-grade talent. For example Sam Taylor goes out-of-contract next year. As the prominent AA FB, he would be an ideal candidate to replace Maysie and keep us relevant for the next decade. Reportedly been offered a 6 year deal at circa 1.3m. Give him 7 years at 1.4. We have the cap space we have the need. It is trades like this that keep Geelong and Sydney relevant for so long. Would be FA so wouldn't cost us anything on the trade front. We don't have anybody in the up and coming that would compare to him especially if we end up losing Petty.

Judd and Johno 9
I think with another 1-2 seasons, he'd be a weapon of half back. I'd love to develop him as a Dan Houston type.

Hmm might be a good player, but is a mid sized forward isn’t he? Not sure it’s an area we are in dire need to fill. I suppose as a RFA it’s worth a shot.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Brisbane
According to master statistician Champion Data’s own Daniel Hoine who some on here laud in all his greatness: 1. We have taken the highest number of shots on goal from the hardest areas 2. we are similar to how we started in 2023 3. We have marginally improved ball movement currently #11 4. We have regressed our contest game 5. We are the 5th easiest to score against ( I may have stiffed this one up as I can only remember 4 things at once with 100% accuracy) but the gist of the stat was our defence isn’t as good as it was. So looking at it optimistically , we are 4-1 with upside. pessimistically, we started like this last year too and from the GWS game onwards ended up becoming one of the more inaccurate sides oh and our inside 50 counts was higher last year.

Kozzy bump on Soligo
I don’t think that is reasonable. Kozzy wasn’t late to the contest (Maynard was) so he contested the ball by trying to smother it and missed. It wasn’t an unreasonable act. So saying he should have run the other way and allowed Soligo a clean disposal is not an acceptable argument IMO. I angree about your mitigating factors and I think that will be sufficient to get him off. If he doesn’t get off, then it’s basically open season on all head high contact irrespective of the footy action being executed.

The Transition
It is a Rolls Royce, but with a flat tyre - that was our defensive ground ball capability. Lets face it, the last two years we sucked when the ball hit the floor in our D50. I haven’t seen enough to determine whether that has gone, but with McVee, Howes and Bowey in there it’s less of a problem. Even TMac is cleaner below his knees. May and Lever who were the serial offenders have actually been relatively cleaner this year.

The Transition
It is just another way to win a game of footy. We have already mastered the contested forward half game and can use this when required. A team that has many ways to win a game is a team that will be hard to beat. Fox have talked about our ability to punish teams. Whether by turnover or stoppage, we are incredibly efficient here as well.

Kozzy bump on Soligo
I think that what you say is actually wrong and is at the heart of how this whole incident is misconceived in the public forum. Jason Dunstall was the only media pundit who actually correctly summarised the incident; Kozzy attempted the smother then actually positioned to push his opponent away. It was in the later motion he actually caught him with his upper arm. The rear footage just makes it appear as though it was a bump, but when youvv no see the side on footage it is clearly evident that he caught him in the motion where he was attempting to push him away. One could argue it was this motion that minimised the significance of the impact and had Maynard tried the same thing, Brayshaw would still be playing today. This is what I believe will be argued tonight - it wasn’t a bracing / bump, it was a push away and the player clearly attempted to minimise the extent of impact whilst executing a footy act. The media spin is ludicrous and is part of the selective punishment issue we have in football. How they didn’t go hard after Maynard, which is not even on the same ball park has me bemused.

2024 Injury List
I have almost zero faith that we’ll see much of McAdam ever at this club. He may string a few games together but my mail is he is extremely injury prone.

COACHES VOTES: Round 04
Its seems as though most sides have only 2 club representatives at this stage. Getting 3-4 players on the leaderboard is more the exception than the norm, although Oliver, Viney and May are likely to be only one solid game from coming onto the board.

COACHES VOTES: Round 04
Heeney will come back to the field once he attracts some defensive attention. Most clubs have let him run free as he has been less damaging and not living up to his potential. Still a very good player, but we have seen this type of form in the past where it ends up dropping away.

Collingwood are putrid.

NON-MFC: Round 04
Two absolutely horrendous umpire decisions that take a neutral ball in Hawks F50 to Collingwood 50 for a goal.

They haven’t really been tested.

NON-MFC: Round 04
I rate them too but not that highly. The big MCG final??? We had that game by miles and coughed it up. We lost that more than them winning it.

NON-MFC: Round 04
So we’ve played more in SA and in Geelong. Exactly where does Carlton play it’s away games… asking for a mate.

Crunch Time
I thought it was meant to be a positive spread based on the OP of the other thread.

Crunch Time
It may not be popular but he definitely shirked contact. Not saying he is soft but Fogarty is a few kegs short of a dump truck and there’s not many in the AFL that would have taken that hit.
