  1. Nope. He’s been in the system longer than JVR and is only marginally in front. I maintain Sydneys forward line is not that good. It’s their ball movement and method which maximises their potential that is the diff. Logan is serviceable but won’t be much of an upgrade on Mihochek
  2. If there is any upside to this whole calamity of a season, it is that we will see each players resilience. Most people know that our team without Trac - even under the best of times - would make it nigh impossible to win a flag. Take Daicos out of Collingwood, Heeney out of Sydney and their chances effectively dive off a cliff as well. However i want to see how each player responds to this, whether they 'give up' or rise to the occasion. Given our position we can continue to lose games or actually turn things around. And to do so without Trac, to me, will actually show/tell me something about the ruthlessness and culture of our team.
  3. It’s silly until it wins you 1-2 flags. We offered these monster contracts post flag era as we thought we would have 1-2 more. In hindsight maybe not the best move.
  4. Reid reportedly worth $18M for 10 years. That’s a nice pay packet. From what I’ve seen of the kid, he’ll be worth every penny. If we are not moving heaven and earth to make cap space we are plain stupid.
  5. Gonna be a Jeremy Howe situation all over again.
  6. If we can limit their scoring to <80 points and not lose by more than 5 goals I’d chalk that up as a win. Y’all want more positivity - there’s my contribution.
  7. Put aside the absurdity of that statement for a moment and tell me how that trade gets done. It’s 2 top 10 picks just to sit down at the table and have a conversation.
  8. Is that a sign that Riv will be a permanent move into the midfield now?
  9. Wasn’t he around for Toumpus?
  10. Sup and dem?
  11. Clarry has been a monumental part of our club - there is no doubting that. However I am firmly in the corner of the club and winning premierships and stand behind a relentless and ruthless pursuit of winning more flags. That is me. If this means trading players, then you do. There is no player under the right circumstances that you dont trade. I understand folks on here will have trouble accepting that, but that is the brutal nature of AFL footy. There are no prizes or plaudits for the runner up or those that just make a PF or make top 4 or even make finals. Clarrys individual achievements and contributions to the team / flag do matter and don’t go unnoticed. For me however, he has cashed in those tickets and whatever dues he has accumulated for his work are no more. The fact that he’s playing with us this year and wasn’t traded out I think reflects this as well. Does this mean we should trade him or give him another chance? I think that rests solely with Oliver. The club on the otherhand should be completely prepared for either scenario.
  12. Yep me too. Commented that he is trying to outdo Gary Lyon. Why do Demons supporters go out of their way to denounce the allegiance. Is it any coincidence that there is general anti Melbourne sentiment in the media?
  13. Reminds me of a song: “heads, shoulder, knees and toes” emphasis being knees and shoulders and head.
  14. He may do. But then you move. Larry back in and keep Berry guessing . Ultimately creating a mismatch and not allowing him to settle and get into the game. Just cannot go into the game thinking Clarry will shake the tag. The coaching panel have to do some planning to help him have a bigger impact.
  15. Why not send Clarry to HF and upset the balance of Lions midfield group? They’d be planning for Clarry so give them something that they may not be ready for. If Berry goes with him to the Forward line then someone has to come out of there. Where do they play? Just need a bit of magnet movement to create some confusion for the Lions
  16. Yep it’s the one pick that unfortunately had a lasting effect. Sam is battling away in the VFL while Charlie and Harry are arguably the 2 best forwards in the comp.
  17. You’d think so right. Just look at social media - there is a lot of negative sentiment amassing re AFL. VIC clubs vs Non VIC, Protected players / clubs, umpiring going to [censored]. The only thing the AFL have on their side is there no real competition from other sports.
  18. So many firsts - there a straight up conspiracy if you ask me.
  19. I have a feeling this year will be his last. There will be a massive reset this year I think and the next C and VC will be picked as part of that. Let Gawn concentrate on his twilight.
  20. That it was a sling tackle seemed to escape everyone’s brain. Phenomenal - it’s a free kick if he hits his head or not right? So why all the commotion? Cam Rayner ran into a bloke head high and held his head to indicate contact to milk a free. Why isn’t anyone making a fuss about that? Why isn’t that fined? This was all led by the media - again bathing in Melbournes demise. It was so much better when we were winning so we could stick it back at em.
  21. Nobody will leave Carlton right now unless they are pushed. The year is 1st genuine year of premiership window.
  22. I think that was his later junior years. I swear i remember hearing his family was from Bendigo or Ballarat (cannot remember which one) and he moved to Sydney after his parents split. I cannot find anything online to back that up though. But nevertheless he was a Sydney Academy pick.
  23. He can remain active and involved at Casey. Not sure why he is playing tbh, he is not helping in anyway.
  24. I was thinking the same on both accounts, however one just has to look at Libba and the role he plays in a comparable kicking team at the Doggies. Oliver plays the extractor role perfectly; inside-to-outside player. Ideally he rarely needs to kick. When he was at his best, Oliver amassed a heap of CPs, clearances and initiating scoring chains. He was also very accountable defensively. Hawthorn would go to another level with Oliver performing near his best. As for GC (what is the 17 for btw?) i think Rowell has been a disappointment. He is a vgood player but not the beast he was all cracked up to be. He is still young so time will tell, but i think he suffered a lot at the hands of Dew. I also think they are missing one elite midfielder. They have Anderson (outside, winger), Graham (sub par), Flanders (HB) , Miller (average), Swallow (getting old). Plus what are GC going to do with Pick 7, 8, 20 ? They ahve plenty of youth already - they need a contingent of readymades. So there is a case to be made for Oliver >> Suns. Im sure you could make a case for Oliver going to any of the other 17 clubs to be honest, but not many have the draft, trade capital to get it done.
  25. **WARNING If you are triggered by trading out Oliver, or general trade discussions while in season (as the thread is titled) please look away now or refrain from having a crack. This is pure speculation aimed at looking to improve our list. If we ended up with a scenario where a net result was something like : OUT: Oliver, Petty IN: LDU, Lukosius, improved Round 1 Pick Oliver >> GCS for Pick 7 (current) + Lukosius Petty + Our 1st Pick (Pick 10) >> Adelaide for Pick 4 (Contentious i know but even this feels like a bad deal for Adelaide) Pick 7 + F2 >> LDU These are not necessarily upgrades per se, but would give us a different look. An alternative scenario, focused more on rebuilding from draft would be something like: Oliver >> Hawks R1 (Pick 6) + F1 Petty + Our 1st Pick (Pick 10) >> Adelaide for Pick 4 This would give us Pick 4,6 this year and 2 first rounders in 2025 draft. Honestly this would be a ballsy call, but the one that id prefer. It will give us the top ups we need for the next decade and allow us another crack at the flag before the end of the decade. We could also look to target a bunch of FA's for key positions as we did with Lever and May.
