Premiership DVD and victory pack
I agree that this is quite disappointing. HD is now the staple format of sports. Most of the finals (GF for sure) would have been recorded in 4K too, but that footage will never see the light of day. I just don't get how FoxFooty and Ch 7 get away with this type of crap year after year. Perhaps they are asking for a premium for this level of quality footage, and hence, not profitable for the manufacturer to bother with. Anyway, in answer to your question, Kayo would be the closest thing you'd get to HD access to the games from last year. But its a cheap man's version of HD (720p i think) at a pretty crappy frame rate as well.

POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
That is the last 5 games of 2021. His last 5 games includes the 2 praccy matches this year. It makes quite a difference to your analysis. The stat analysis does not always tell the story, but it makes the ability to take out the subjective aspect of any analysis as the non-tangibles can always be adjusted to suit ones own narrative. Honestly, i dont understand why people get their knickers in a knot over pointless opinions and feel like they have to judge the quality of ones post. He has had a bad-run of form (according to me), he has upside (i think everyone would agree), time to move on.

POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
Go re-watch the games and look up the stats yourself.. You will see in his last 5 performances, he had one OK game (mind you against an opponent where everybody had a great game). Compare this with the first half of the season where he couldn't put a foot wrong and you will see i am not being unreasonable in my assessment of his recent form.

POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
Yes he is young and y Pull your finger out DD, i have not written anybody off. He has had a recent streak of poor games and I simply agreed with the post that called it out. You maybe prepared to accept mediocrity, but i am done with that. If you have a poor game, ok, $h** happens but if you string a few poor games together, then its fair game.

Every Heart Beats True Documentary
I reckon they will save that for a special edition 2021 season blue ray/dvd.

POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
100% on the money. He was ordinary against the Roos as well as most of the games late last year. It may be a role but he needs to lift and impact the scoreboard. In all fairness though, Spargo and ANB were very average too.

POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
I think Tommo is the perfect match-up on the bigger bodied tall forwards. He effectively rendered McKay useless yesterday and has done the same on Hawkins before. A number of the top 4-6 teams have these types of forwards (McStay, Lynch, 2m Peter etc). Whilst Petty can certainly do the job, id honestly have Tommo as the lockdown defender. Nevertheless between May, Tommo, Petty and Lever we have options - just not sure we can play them all in the same team as our vulnerability seems to be against those teams with a smaller more mobile forward line. This is why i think Rivers over Smith and although Hunt was terrible last night, he has the right physicality to match the pace of small dynamic opposition forwards.

POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
The 50% scoring from inside 50 is due largely to an unaccountable midfield. We got absolutely pants in the middle and Carlton were able to highly capitalise from their clearances. I think the arrogance/selfishness of Trac and Oliver were on display last night and Cripps gave them both a good reality check. Not a bad time for a reminder of what team football is about. Having our starting back 6 would have definitely helped reduce that conversion to maybe 30-40% but even that would be too high.

POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
I reckon Tommo was good. Shut out McKay in the first half. We didn’t account for McGovern as intercept defender. Carlton played that card so let’s see how other teams address that. Kozzy was outclassed by Saad ‘the elite’ he tried but his form and impact on the game wasn’t really there. Am expecting a big year from him, but not sure after his first 2 games. When did he actually kick his last goal? LJ has also been quite disappointing so far as well. Let’s hope we don’t dish this stuff up again.

What did stink was getting touched up in the middle. Praccy match or not, that was brutal.

I think 4 or 5 goals from them too.. perspective.

Also defensive ground ball is clearly our kryptonite

Pretty insipid training run I must say. I get we have no back half but I’d expect some pressure around the ball at least.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
It is inevitable that we will lose someone from the current 22 unless they start accepting unders. For Brayshaw, he is already get highly overpaid for his role/position so at best he’ll get 80-90% of his current contract. Realistically, to keep LJ and keep something aside for Oliver next renewal, he’s going to need to goto 60-70% circa 450K pa. Others approaching renewal will need to do the same.

NON-MFC: Practice Matches 2022
Watched the highlights of Cats and Tigers. Geez the Tigers looked like they took a step back in time. Cats have seriously adjusted their game plan too but not sure it will be enough. Both look the goods for 2022. I get it’s only praccy matches but I think On that performance they are both a top 8 side.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs North Melbourne
Watching the replay and saw a 2 sec cameo of Salem walking off the ground after the incident. He only took a few steps but look unhindered and and was unassisted.

GAMEDAY: Practice Match vs North Melbourne
Picking up where we left off. Geez we are cool and composed in the forward line.

Gus and Gawny
I'm a bit worried about Gus's future in media management. That first episode was painful to sit through albeit for the 5 minutes of humour and silliness injected by Gawny. I get the need to have a laugh and not take the whole show too seriously but surely they spend a bit of time talking about preparation, pre-season or what ever has been happening from a footy perspective - dont need to dedicate the full show, just 5-10 minutes will surely quench the thirst of diehard footy supporters (i.e DL) who want a detailed account of how every player faired in every training drill conducted (joke). Maybe this is a deliberate attempt to not place too much expectation on the team or that its only pre-season etc, but we have all heard that there are a number of players running PB's, looking sharp on the track etc. In all fairness Gus did mention Oliver is nigh impossible to tackle, which is exactly the stuff we are after. My highlight was how happy Gawn was with himself in the justification of (hypothetically) playing the GF over attending his son's birth - quote was something along the lines of it has taken him 13 years of trying, commitment and persistence to win his first GF, whereas it only took 3 mins to make his son.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Win the 2022 GF and he'll stay to be part of history - this is the only scenario where you have a somewhat predictable outcome. Anything else is anyone's guess.

COVID Disruptions 2022
I just realised that only 4 weeks until Round 1. My family unfortunately contracted COVID last week whilst on holiday in NSW and I’m the last one in isolation finishing today. Wasn’t pleasant for us but wasn’t too bad either. The bummer was that our holiday was completely ruined and the weeks we spent being careful and doing the right things were undone in probably a brief moment of letting down our guard. The silver lining for us is that the next 4-6 weeks at least will give us immunity to the Omicron strain and hence peace of mind for a few weeks at the footy for my son and I.

Harry Petty Out for 4-6 Weeks
I reckon they will look to exploit this injury big time. Schache, JUH, Naughton and probably a ruck rotating through. Obviously all depends on there form, but the point is that the dogs can definitely go tall, so if Tommo isn’t ready we gonna have to look at J Smith. Still plenty of water to flow under the bridge.
