I tend to agree. With gen talent you see flashes of brilliance throughout the early years that show us they know how to play the game. Once their body matures and they get fitter, those flashes are seen more consistently. Think of Oliver’s first season - we knew we had something special. LJ is a good footballer but I’m starting to think he is not as great as we all thought. Every player has a great game now and then. LJs just happened to coincide to be in the third quarter of a GF. Just like Weeds 2018 finals performance.

I love the analogy! So true!
-
Doubtful it comes to that. Can we have LJ, Grundy and Gawn in the same team though?
-
Freo could use Pick 13, and Pick 20 (NMFC) and their F2 to move into the Top 5 and then trade that pick with their F1 to us for LJ. Or as other have said they can just give us all the picks and we can get it done.
-
Yep I know. But Port will have to use their future picks to secure JHF. Kozzy would demand at least 1 pick in the top 10 and an early second rounder. Still, hopefully they get Kozzy signed and secured after trade period ends.
-
Just heard on SEN that LJ has advised west Coast he is not walking through to the PSD. Still wants Freo but will not screw over his old club.
-
Oh boi. I wouldn’t be surprised. Essendon is an absolute [censored] show.
-
Peninsula Link is right on the door step of Dingley.

Those that get frustrated by Kornes need to understand that is what he wants. He wants to be controversial, he wants angry supporters ringing up and complaining. It is his style of trash journalism.

Just as context the points value of #13, Norfs comp pick #20 and Freos future first is at least 3k in total. That’s assuming Freo win the GF (unlikely) so it’s possibly more. So we can make a play for just about any pick in the first round if that is what Freo end up offering us. But using all three picks for 1 player seems like a huge gamble. Much rather ( assuming we get the above picks for LJ), we try to use #13 and Freo’s F1 and make a play for #5 from Adelaide or #4 from Essendon. You feel like both clubs will need to bottom out some more and given the talent next year could end up with two early first rounders.
-
I’m assuming he can still sign a contract with us.
-
I think you take both picks and get someone in the top 5 to split. And get one of the KPFs on offer that way.
-
Do we have any updated national draft predictiors? Or is that only done after the combines are completed. Im interested to find out the expected trade order and when the two (quality rated) KPF are expected to go based on the list needs of clubs. I think everyone of the top 8 picks can make a play for getting their hands on a KPF, but it just depends on whether they have bigger priorities.

What a basket case of a club
-
Can future picks be used for their points value.
-
I like your work. Pick 8 + Freo future 1st for GWS pick will depend on who GWS have their eye on. They are also in need of a KPF which makes me think they’ll potentially not trade to give us first dibs.
-
Ports main focus will be to pursue JHF. If they do that - as many have said - they will not have much left to pursue Kozzy.
-
Nope I don’t think he has the required awareness or skill to play in the midfield.
-
I think WC, Norf, GWS and Port will work out a mega deal that will involve Georgiadies >> WC, WC split pick with GWS, JHF to Port and Norf end up with more 1st rounders. They will stack up on talent this year and end up like GWS in 5 years time. The other alternative is WC split with GWS and offer us 3,20 for LJ while they hold onto pick 12. We could also throw in Bedford to GWS as a sweetener. Ultimately it'll boil down to whether they want LJ or Georgiadies.
-
Without the 2021 season we look to have potentially paid overs - remember though 2-3/5 years ruined by injury. But a 2021 season with a medal does change it IMV.
-
But in the two picks in the 10-20 range deal , we’d be the ones getting ripped off. If Freo had the picks I’d happily settle for something like 5-8 + 15-20. If LJ was a midfielder I’d probably care less on the combo, but any KPF worth a look won’t be available after pick 10.
-
First time I’ve felt strongly against a pursuit. I can’t say I’ve watched him a whole lot but what do we do with JJ if we get him? Does he just go into the Mid rotation?
-
This is a good sign. We will get an AA ruckman with at least 3-4 years of good footy on the cheap. If he goes for a second rounder that would be a steal..
-
Maybe a little. But he has no defensive accountability (yet) whereas Chandler you feel is a much more rounded player. You feel for Chandlers 2 game suspension this year as he probably would have gone on to have a bigger impact in the following weeks.
-
I think Sparrow has more upside too. He is a tougher mid and better kick. He just needs more experience. I think Bowey comes in for Hunt, Taj probably gets a few looks at some stage on as either HF or wing, Turner is ahead of Tommo and chandler ahead of Bedford now. We also have JJ that was out late in the year. TMac also comes back from injury and you have Grundy for LJ. Then JVR gets some games too. The question is where does the talent go in VFL without these players. None of the players we are losing have any upside left - they are a known quantity. We know their best and most couldn’t make the 23 anymore. So in IMV the refresh is a good thing as we are getting more youth into the squad.
