Is the media going to talk about how boring this brand is?
-
Yep you can not walk back what he did. Like it or not, this will stick until he retires or leave. Maybe that’s his strategy.
-
Wow at Sydney. Seriously I say it every week - why did we have bomb this year… there’s no one left standing.

The Watch with Ben Gibson | Tom Morris

So he’ll leave when things get tough? Great leadership. Jonesy should go down and have a chat with him. -

It’s like looking in the mirror. -
Nick will stay in the media. Better money and less responsibility. Jack will hang out for a Tassie role if he’s interested in the footy side of things.

This is a chance to make a statement if the playing group is united. ill go as far as saying if we get belted Freo style, then all the rumours are more or less true. We dont necessarily have to win, but show some ticker. So ill watch with genuine interest because i think it will show.

Oh yeah. My time to shine! -
So you have a coach criticizing umpires, calling his players losers, missing finals, commenting on contracted players and yet no media pile on. Not even a question on their culture. They must do one hell of a job controlling the narrative down there as i could imagine they are likely going through the same issues we are. I know Goodwin is all about business, but his media profile needs some work. He could take a leaf out of Gawn's book and learn to get on with the media. His absence no doubt from all FoxFooty non-mandatory commitments has likely contributed to magnitude of this pile-on.

Would you believe I’ve never seen this cut. Thanks - what the hell has happened to this club.

I think Oliver and JV will stay. It’s hard to gauge the true extent of the Trac issue but I’m leaning on him staying, but he’s almost 30 so if someone did offer us 3 first round picks then I’d take it in a heart beat.
-
Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised.
-
Yeah but he only comes as a full set. ;)
-
There is no way that will happen. It’s 3 first rounders and the Pies only have a F1. They don’t have anyone they can offer us either. I think you can feel pretty safe about that one.
-
I’d say the entire first round
-
That club. Grr. I wait for the day that something tragic happens.
-
He does have something but putting him up now would ruin him. Gawn will have to stay for at least 1 more year I think. Bring Rivers into the LG and move Trac out.
-
I think we have to keep Milkshake just for the sake of a leadership group. Lever, JV, Gawn, Melksham form the senior players. I think we need to also bring in a fresh face in place of Trac (regardless of if he stays or goes) Rivers maybe? He seems to be a stand up bloke that gives everything.

Andrew McQualter - Appointed coach of the West Coast Eagles
Gawndy the Great replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We don’t know if he’s the problem tbh. I think there’s more likely a chance that there are fractures in the group. It certainly explains a lot on field. -
With every day that goes by, the more it appears to be heading in that direction. im not having him leave to a power house. He can go to GC in exchange for Pick 7, 12 and Ben King/Mac Andrew

I am only here to figure what is the go with your avatar.

If it were just that simple.

Freo are the only team with draft or player capital. Even their current draft hand is unders (8,13,17). That isnt going to nett you the next Petracca. It would take 1 pick in the top 5, 1 in top 10 and a player to start the conversation. Why? PA want to first rounders for Houston.... that is why. The salary or contract shouldn't even be a factor. No other club would even batter an eye for paying him circa 1M pa for the next 5, there would be plenty who go upwards of putting a 8M contract in front of him.

I beg to differ. This internal bickering will get ego's hurt and create a rift between sections of the playing group. If those rifts are allowed to set in or cannot be resolved, then kiss any chance of returning to finals until the list is effectively rid of those involved. With Trac's trip to Noosa for mental recovery, the fact that there was frustration from the playing group tells me a) they really don't understand the significance of Trac's injury and his mental state following, which in of itself is a reflection of broader issues between players and the environment they all work in or b) Tracs dedication to the club or commitment to the club had previously been questioned and this trip further contributed to the optics around deserting the club when they need him to be around and uphold the standards he had been having issues with. This isnt about whether his trip to Noosa was right or wrong, it is around managing the optics within the four walls of the club. That is where terms like culture and high performing teams come into the picture and it appears that we do have issues on that front. To let it play out in the media and have all of this coming back on Trac is going to further inflame the issue and tension between the players. Stuff like this is really difficult to weed out as they can resurface when things get tough again.
