At least back then I was out and about at a shopping centre, oblivious to what 2020 was going to bring. Still depressed.

GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Port Adelaide
Why is that umpire laughing? Wines tried to barge through the pack like a rugby player, making no attempt and dropping his head and is rewarded with a free kick. The joke's on us.

Where's Weideman? The only time I saw him was on the bench in the first quarter. Can someone tell me if he's injured.

In Alaska? As far away from AFL as possible would suit me at the moment.

Anyone else absolutely despising the Port supporters in the crowd booing everything?

Please have mercy on us poor Melbourne supporters locked in our homes down here in Victoria watching this horror show, surrounded by a growing enemy we cannot see and cannot fight. Put up a fight Demons! Show us you care.

Silly me. I didn't realize going to the Gold Coast was for an end of season holiday. Looks like they have started early.

What they're saying down at Alberton Oval
There's no pleasing some people. Talk about hard markers. With fans like them you don't need enemies. Love the conspiracy theory concerning Jack. Let's start a rumour as a deflection.?

It was like watching a tennis match, only my head only turned one way. Bounce, tap out to a Fitzroy player, handball to Gary Wilson and then an old bloke in front of me would cry out "Captain's goal, Gary, Captain's goal!" I have lived with that nightmare all my life. AND I don't really like the name Gary. (With apologies to anyone named Gary.)?

Death by the pre-tackle
Wow, thanks for pointing out the fact that Oliver actually does have TWO arms! I have been labouring under the mistaken impression that poor Clayton only had one. So that explains all the three armed opposition players.?LOL.

Umpiring
Laws of Australian Football. 17.6 Holding the Ball. 17.6.3 Free Kicks- Holding the Ball: Incorrect Disposal Where a Player in Possession of the Football has not had Prior Opportunity, a Free Kick shall be awarded if that Player elects to incorrectly Dispose of the football when Legally Tackled. For the avoidance of doubt, a Player does not elect to incorrectly Dispose of the football when: (a) the Player genuinely attempts to Correctly Dispose of the football; (b) the Legal Tackle causes the football to be dislodged from the Player's possession. I have written in bold the relevant points. Reading this rule, my interpretation is that many so called holding the ball calls are wrong. Prime example was Oscar's free given against him. He was legally tackled and he lost possession of the ball from the actions of the tackler's hands. What is going on with this rule? What does everyone else think? Am I reading this wrong?

The forward line needed to do better. They needed to kick goals. That's their role.

POSTGAME: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
This problem has been irking me for years. Aren't goal umpires chosen for their specific skills in observation, quick thinking etc? The field umpires should give them more credit and let them make the decision without getting involved all the time. How many times have I seen a field umpire go up and appear to say to the goal umpire, are you sure, are you sure. Yes they are sure, they are the goal umpires, that is their area to adjudicate, they are the closest. Instead doubt is put into their minds because they realize the cameras and technology is there to prove they may have made a mistake. Stuff that! They should abide by the goal umpire's decision and be done with it. Let them do their job without this constant interference. How many mistakes do field umpires make? No official questions them when they are on the field while the game is going on. We hear about it during the week. It's too late then. Let the goal umpires do their job!

Did the umpire just make up a new rule, dangerous tackle? Let's consult our dictionaries to check what dangerous means. It could mean a number of things. The umpire needs to be more precise, not make things up on the run. And very poor from Healy saying Jetta ducked his head again. Would he say that about Selwood? I think not.
