  1. Thanks Macca. Do you concur with most D/Lers on Jeds future and ability? Better than Davies with his upside? Or even or better than Busslinger?
  2. Completely different to similar recruit in 30's our much loved Harry Petty. I picked Harry out from his first highlights package (for our AFL backline KPD) which featured some great one on one work and tough body contact then kicking and disposing in good style. We all know the result after some injury delays as Petts a premiership player and a mighty fine back man and lieutenant to Maysie and Rick. Reading above a summary of Jed's footy journey last season it highlighted his great value off the field and ability to get the backline in order ( in true May and Lever style). A fast tracker I would say and plenty of team ethos with Disco Jed snd the other AA Backs in the Backline Club. Reckon Riv will find another level with a WA boy there to help. Oh and Jed has already done some cameos up around Full Forward with some success. Remind you of ??? ( Tmac JVR Petty and even S.May!). Exciting times ahead as Casey will provide an early grounding along with pre season for Jed's experience and development from the 2021 Masters of Defence and Coaches. Fascinating to watch!!! Bring it on !!! Welcome Jed.
  3. Jed and the Dees will have the last laugh when ( not if) he finally replaces the great Stephen May as our full back ( or CHB). Wonderful selection with JT written all over it and makes our "battle" with Freo in trade and recruit selection an early success. PS Remember FF Matt Jefferson utilised No 13 our pick from the Dogga trade back to Freo.
  4. So where in highlights do you generally see a fight? Hardly if ever.
  5. Only ONE( 37 ) or 39 as it is of now selection we are going to do tonight and neither Barnett or Keeler will be available at that pick. Have to trade up possibly to be any chance.
  6. If and when you are able Mr Slart can you look specifically at the young 2021 and 2022 class and check if their physical size has improved ( or reduced) and any height improvement. AMW wow what a start to pre season done a lot of work to base his season on and almost a new recruit again but much more AFL ready in size! Players like Laurie D.Smith Taj Van Rooyen Bowey McPhee Disco Riv and Kossie even. For eg. I thought Laurie looked much slimmer in the training photo last week, even though it was a funny angle and not at a completely convincing angle. Thanks.
  7. Good summary Kev. Was unhappy at 1/4 time but 5 mins in the second we neutralised their mids and took over. Great team effort by the girls and we gutsed it out from then on. Too tough in and under (Westy Hanksy and Liz Purcell) got on top and kept going. Great last quarter by all. Lions underperform vs us as their list needs a couple of hard at it under girls like Westy and Livy. All one style are their girls very skilful but need a couple of grunt players to get down and dirty. Ticks 2,boxes seeing 2021 in Pert and now the girls in Brissievon my home patch. Need a Melbourne fix in 2023 for both.
  8. See the email last night from the Club to all members I would have thought.
  9. We have Riv whose form ( mainly due to racing back into the team too early) took half a season for good form. Riv Will star in 2023 but another flanker of size is still a good option but this year I would concentrate on forwards who can kick goals especially finishing ones!
  10. And Kossies record is right up there with Cyril in stats and his effect on the opposition despite what you will say in reply. No he hasn't got a Norm yet but time is on his side.
  11. Won't happen Poita Plenty of prime again to give Club ability to maximise its sponsors And how come you don't care !!! About The draw easy or hard. Everything on your terms so it seems nothing for the Dees!!! After many years of just making numbers up we deserve the spoils of a top Club and games with tension and atmosphere of big crowds.
  12. The JT second drafts like Riv JJ Tommy Sparrow Plus Bowey as a late 1st rounder and JVR are all good as well
  13. And most likely mid season or next year you might well regret this move IMO if our forward line does not improve. Let's get Jefferson if we can and make our attack with JVR the envy of the AFL.
  14. Poor judgement on Gus again. For a multiple position choice player of 3 or 4 years a star in our program and AFL and one injured in between why class him as a "lesser" player at our Club. You will vote his disposal I know as a demerit which is exagerated when compared to some of our other top players. Major issues is where we get the best team wise out of Gus ie wing half back or in the middle?
  15. And why has Laurie effectively cost us a first round draft pick this year?
  16. Regarding Laurie you don't know what this season will bring. Look at his training photo and to me it seems he has taken off some weight and his body looks thinner snd much fitter. Your trouble is you want instant success and don't allow players time snd they all take different time to reach AFL status. I take a more patient approach and consider injuries luck and smaller details in assessing the player and his ability. This could well be Lauries year of development and you have totally written him off !
  17. Why Salem? Clearly was played too soon and never regained total match fitness all 2022 season. Have you forgotten his near BOG (Prob 3rd after Trac and Fritta) in the Premiership Grand Final Win and stellar season in 2021. Hate to be ill or injured in your house you would consign me to the garage if it lingered too long!
  18. That will never happen NC let's be hopeful Goody etc give Petty the opportunity to spearhead or CHF our attack.
  19. The trouble Picket some posters ( eg Mach 5) want the finished product of a draftee at 18/19 and also concentrate on some alleged or minor defects which most often can be developed or trained for. MY previous post on why we should embrace and take MJ sums up his good points snd I believe he has the attributes as a base of a very good footballer and also the odd elite trick that separates him from C/ B grader like Sam Weid.
  20. It's Sunday BTW and about 30 deg is forecast which means about 32/33 deg. inland !!
  21. To all the doubters and supporters who have commented on Matthew Jefferson I offer the following comments following his highlights stats and career that has been covered by the gurus and "experts" alike. 1. Cadman is NOT going to be available and MJ is clearly the second best KPF on his record in Junior and Championship ( National ) footy so far. 2. Matthew has put on 8 kgs and about 3 cms since his first stats about 9/12 mths ago. 3. He like most of the top 15/20 draftees speaks very/surely and confidently about himself indicating a degree of belief based on a good grounding on the forward line so far. 4. Regarding Lucas Cook and comparisons once again he like Wattsy was expected to be a saviour, almost lone handed. JVR and MJ have the benefit of if fit and available Tmac BBB Gawny Brodie and Fritta plus a plethora of mids and smalls playing forward to learn and develop plus our superior coaching at the Club now. 5. If you say that MJ is only being selected as being the next in line for FF and we should delay our selection till Mr Right comes along he is clearly 2nd best and has a number of skills that make good forwards. That is good mark good lead good kick ( record is fine for the one poster who knocked this) and he is ripe for further development already maturing in size. 6. To be a good KPF you need to be a good rounded player with some tricks and to me looking at his highlights he has got some X factor as well these tricks which makes him a potentially good AFL player. Of course how he handles expectation and pressure are vital factors to be proven. 7. JVR came to us with his package of ability to play at KPF or KPD and has started well and been a very good contributor at Casey who excites us with his potential. Because we didn't know about him as much he has not got the grilling Matthew is getting. We are accepting of him as we have seen some real evidence at Casey that he could be a good/great Demon on the forward line. 8. There is no way knowing if MJ will fulfil his draft potential but he looks a "good footballer" to me and I Will back JT and the FD to select him as we need some young forwards to blossom with our other stars to be confident of some success over the next 5 plus years. Recruiting good footballers ensures you have a choice of options in a team that their ability can break games apart with their talent. MJ I have the feeling is this. PS David Schwarz always looked a good footballer in 1991/2 in the Reserves and JVR and Bowser to me are similar at the Dees from Casey form and Bowers first 20 plus AFL games. MJ's highlights are indicative of a player with football gifts that may well separate himself from others and become an elite Demon forward. Go forth and select JT and company and good luck.
