COVID & AFL 2021
The data on vaccinated groups catching Delta (citation required: infected-vaccinated by age decile/comordities) is not good. Lots of vaccinated people appear to be getting it, and transmitting it. I don't know what the risk is vis a vis viral load/transmissability of those vaccinated, but I'd be concerned enough. Doesn't mean it's not a good idea re: lower risk...

COVID & AFL 2021
Great idea. Practically challenging. Think of everyone trying to board the plane earlier than the called rows...on steroid! It'll be like 9-11 x 100, Gary. Ways to mitigate/control for it, but a really great idea. You might see though big groups there early milling around waiting. Perhaps really strictly enforced distancing - I am talking 3m - not 1m.

What were the mask settings? If a game ends up at Metricon, I'll be in a P2 going in and whilst in situ I think..

If the season ended now…
Would you care? I wouldn't. I don't question last year. Everyone playing to the board in front of them.

COVID & AFL 2021
Might see another GF at Gabba, G or AO. If I was the AFL, I'd be asking players to think carefully about large public gatherings, like the rugby. Moot point with lockdown in Vic now, but some are in QLD.

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs Hawthorn
I feel like not making the GF this year would be a huge waste given our draw and our start. It would leave a very sour taste. Opportunities like this do not come along often and we're not a dynasty-like Hawks or reliable Cats outfit.

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs Hawthorn
Yikes. Squiggle now has us finishing 3rd (includes this round's results) playing Cats Week 1. A loss sees us playing Sydney @ the G (or wherever Covid dictates) then Dogs to make the GF. Finishing first is probably seeing us play PA week 1 and an easier run. A win in week 1, if we finish 3rd or I think 2nd) v Cats, will likely see us play the Lions in a prelim. The losses to lower teams are starting to manifest now as substantial draw risk in the finals. Obviously there's no getting away from beating the Cats or Dogs I don't think but a second chance would be handy from 1st or 2nd.

CHANGES: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
Jeepers! Texas Chainsaw Massacre! I like your posts and would like to subscribe to your ezine. Where can I post a my cheque? :D Weid for Jackson is interesting as is Melksham for ANB. Is Jones providing some banjo free Deliverance into the F50 with reliability to the extent he pushes someone out? If so, who? I thought Brown was useful.

2004 boys, time to read the Riot Act.
How many shocks do you reckon it'll take? Crows Pies GWS Now this To go with the pretty salty efforts against ladder laggards early in year, NM, Hawks till 3/4 time, Carlton, etc.

The trade Jack Viney thread
Tend to agree with this. Given our start, and our draw, anything except a top 2 and at LEAST a prelim will be a failure in my view. Next year's draw for us will be harder so we won't be afforded the same start.

Dees V Hawks in Metricon for the double header (@Brownie, we going?) or to Bris. Hub/Stay there (QLD), off to Darwin for the Suns game, or bring that back to Metricon also.

COVID & AFL 2021
It might be interesting to contemplate whether the Big Show needs to head up north to QLD. At present, both NSW teams and Vic teams can get to QLD, along with SA and WA, IIRC. So as to have crowds/gate...depends how the leak into Vic goes.
