Ken did rate Gawn the most valuable player in the league.

This might be sacrilege but the AFL helped turn the tide by ending zoning and introducing the draft. When did the salary cap come in?

Looks like a good round 1 side. Pick last years team except for the boom recruit. If you fellas dont perfrom then the kids get selected.

There was an article in todays AGE, listing players soon to be out of contract, free agents etc. The MFC didnt crack a mention as a major suitor for any of the players. Has any body heard if we are really interested in anyone?

Tairon Ah-Mu - No access for Dees NGA Talent

Totally agree. But we had just won 6 flags and I could understand the VFL wanting to share it around. But the zones were supposed to be rotated and they never were. And the Saints were stitched up too as a number of players in there 66 team came from down the pennisula and most of that aarea went to Hawthorn. And the rest is history. -
I remember going to a practice match against Norf at the Colonials. Norf had introduced the switch. No matter which way we entered our fwd line, on turnover it immediately came out the other side. And we were absolutely flummoxed. By half time even I knew which way the ball was going to go. So you can learn something new. And you also identify which players cant remember the new game plan. Also of note in that game was a spectator who abused the umps from the 5 minute mark. Like really?

Certainly body shape starts to change once you get get into the AFL program. Even when I look at Campbell, and hes been around for awhile and perhaps he wasnt expecting the opportunity but he now looks more like an athlete rather than the backup ruckman from the '70s. -

Yes the feeling is really good but perhaps the novelty of 'getting the band back together' has warn off a tad, even for the track watchers? And the grind of preseason training is kicking in. And I wouldnt be surprised if some of those in rehab dream about running the boundary. And on another matter, as a track watcher you can get really close to the action at times. With that in mind Salems vision is extraordinary, identifies the target in a split second; and it helps when they are well drilled. -

Another lovely day at the track with a good collection of track watchers. Kossie, Verrall, Kentfield, Kolt, Woey not in attendance. Lever, Spargo, Melky, Chin, McAdam, Fullarton, Trac in rehab or a modified program. Lever went back to the 'sheds' for awhile then came back to ride the bike next to melky. Chin much better since last I saw but still feeling shoulder. Trac had the trainer lying on top of him, then got up, win the ball and do some dodging and weaving. Campbell gives Max a real contest in the ruck. TCs body looking more AFL and Max was moving the best i have seen this preseason Fritta and Turner looked magnificent, naturally. Our talls, Roo and jeffo looking good. Roo seems to have his mojo back. Billings really stood out, with his run and linkage play. Langford should play round 1. Clarry puts on half a litre of sunscreen at every opportunity. And always doing something with his boots. Jai Culley looked good, got the appaluse of his team mates. Had a slight problem with a blister. Noah Yze was also there with another unknown. Noah has reasonably broad shoulders but skinny arms. No sausages.- 208 replies

David King’s Preseason Training Observations
Fritta and Turner replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Like the Dees of 15 years ago. Nothing they seem to do improves on what they already have. Not prepared to take a risk and cannot seem to work out a strategy for going forward. I wonder if the board is factionalised. Anyway, ask again after round 6. -
And what has he got on that farm?

In reference to the AGE article, so Chin just has a 'flesh wound' and Spargo is malingering?
