  1. I’m not angry at this loss - as so many on here are - (we were expected to lose comfortably) I’m just disappointed that we got so close and couldn’t put them away. It’s too easy to list all the things we did wrong - particularly our backline mistakes, our forward bombing and our woeful disposal - but with so much wrong, why / how did we get within 6 points? I’m going to give Chaplin much of the credit for us getting so close. We saw a free flowing game style (despite the skill errors) that we haven’t seen before - and one (minus the turnovers) that could well take us to the finals next season. It’s a shame Troy isn’t applying for the coaching role. So, disappointed yes, but so excited for next year.
  2. so impressed with the level of skill improvement with the women's game since the earlier days. Congratulations to the coaches and the ladies themselves for working so hard to improve their skill levels. Perhaps the men could poach their skills coach for the preseason.
  3. Bub, I had that same thought back on May 7 2023 - and said so:- “I’d like to try using May as our key forward for a few games. His attack, strength and accurate kicking is surely worth a good look. He’s not the reliable key back he was - for whatever reason - and after listening to his interview, I think he really would like the opportunity up forward”. As you can see, Healy is well behind in his (DL) research.
  4. Why not do both @Bitter but optimistic ? (3.5hrs apart - should be long enough, no?)
  5. Yes. I believe the decision to sack Goody was not based on what a new coach might achieve, it’s based on what our old coach didn’t. It’s like others have said ( @Lucifers Hero ) they are independent decisions.
  6. David Parkin was my coach for a season. He was doing his teacher training at my primary school so they naturally made him the football team coach. He said I’d make a good cricketer.
  7. ….. but who’s looking?
  8. Viney was Shiite Oliver was shiiter Petracca was shiitish
  9. You’ll be calling him Mick next, OD.
  10. HG, if the date of the meeting between Smith and Buckley that @Gator gave is accurate, then this took place when we were only 0-3. To me, this would imply that internal discussions on Goody would have started well before this for us to have actually reached the point where we were sounding out prospective coaches. Obviously our ‘24 years performance sowed a number of seeds of doubt.
  11. I agree Uncle, but change is harder for some to accept. It might just be a game, but I’d guess a fair few on here would find it far easier to accept change at their workplace rather than change at their football club. Hopefully for those affected, the outpouring here is cathartic for them, and they are able to “let it go”. I am so much more impressed with Max after his MMM interview. He has set the tone for his team ( and hopefully for our supporters)- an exciting future awaits. And this will start with a great performance on Sunday (I hope). Cheer loud and proud on Sunday Uncle.
  12. Great read - well done
  13. We had only lost our first 3 games by April 3 (although 2 bad losses). Seems early for Smith looking for replacements?
  14. I think that was back when we had a coach, a CEO and a President.
  15. After Gawn’s comment on MMM, Campbell in and Gawn on Darcy!
  16. Just two things I want to say: thank you for your outstanding dedication to this Club, and particularly the players. The fact that you are so well loved within the playing group means you are entitled to feel extremely proud of your efforts and the legacy you will leave. We are a much better club for having you onboard. Secondly, time you signed up to Demonland and gave us the inside goss on all things MFC. Best wishes for whatever you do next.
  17. Goodwin was all class under trying circumstances. Good luck.
  18. 1pm announcement apparently
  19. I'm going to wait for the official Board announcement before i make judgements about the call and its timing etc . At this stage we don't know what has transpired internally - only the outcome (and I'm sure Morris could only care about the outcome).
  20. so the f what? - As long as they were appointed because of their ability, what should it matter? Do we choose players from the draft that only barrack for the Dee's? You only seem to appear when you want to stick it to the Board. And even that's ok if you have a valid complaint - but you don't this time, so this only makes you look petty.
  21. I’ll admit I haven’t been Clarry’s greatest fan for the best part of 2 seasons. Yet a couple of weeks ago I noted on here that I thought I saw small signs of the old Clarry starting to reappear - only to be disappointed in him last week. But this week he started to look like the Clarry of old, his confidence, which has been sorely missing, just seemed to grow as the game progressed. I know the competition was poor, but if those signs continue over the last 3 rounds, he may well get back to his best next season. Fingers crossed. I don’t think I’d be trading him.
  22. TRAB, it helps when you have 100,000 members to get good attendance figures. I noticed WC pointed this fact out on their banner yesterday - I guess you cannot blame them for boasting about something.
