  1. Dub, you mean like moving a firing winger to the back flank? Would that be dumb too?
  2. Haha Beelz. What, you’ll revert back to being an emoji guy again?Where would i then get my daily analogy fix? (Or 2 or 3 or 4?). Whether Goody goes or stays( and I’m leaning well towards the former) this site would be poorer without your input. I see you and @Ghostwriter as polar opposites, and we need this Yin and Yang for balance. (Although I think you are both somewhat deranged).
  3. OD, you dirty old man! I hope Donna is your wife’s name.
  4. Memory? Just how f’ing old are you LDC?
  5. That surprises me GW, but as you are so much closer to them than me, I respect what you are suggesting. As an outsider, I’ve always thought Rivers was captain material from day one. I do think form is important however, as a captain should be able to lead from the front. Trent has not progressed as much as I thought he would, but that could soon turn. Whatever happens, we have a couple of years to wait yet ( thank god) before we need to decide. It will be interesting to see who puts their best foot forward over this period.
  6. we sure could. But I very much doubt that will ever be Fritsch again.
  7. Agree they probably would have to accept less coin - but that’s their choice - leave for less or stay and be rewarded. With their contract torn up, then we would want fair compensation through decent picks in return. The point is, we shouldn’t be made to lose because a player wants out.
  8. If Tracc and / or Clarry wanted to leave at the end of the year, why should it be that the MFC loses because of this? We negotiated a contract and a contract price in good faith with these players and they willingly signed up. We should be allowed to get fair value for the player in these situations instead of ending up paying part of their contract fee and perhaps getting a third rounder in return. That is just not fair. What should happen is the MFC contract with the player is torn up, we get fair trade value for the player and the player negotiates his salary with the new Club. What’s wrong with this system?
  9. Here’s a thought. Are the inmates running the asylum? For all of Tracc’s posturing (and demands?) last year, are we a better performing club this year because of it? For all of our pandering to Oliver, are we a better performing club this year and last? (In fact, are Tracc and Oliver better players this year as a result of our pandering? On field, Tracc is the epitome of Tracc first, Team second, and for someone who claimed the Club was not professional enough, his disposal is a disgrace, embarrassing and nowhere near professional standard. Clarry is just a shell, and such a sad case). For all the player “wants” of more away time from the Club, are we a better performing team this year? For all of Goody’s desire to be “best friends” with the players, has this made us a better performing side these last couple of seasons? While I have no doubt that many of the players love Goody, I also believe we need someone stronger. Someone who will take back control of the players, so that the horse is once again leading the cart. They don’t need a friend, and they don’t need a sergeant major, but they do need a father figure who can hand out tough love when it’s needed. Goody doesn’t appear to be that man. While Goody has faced some tough situations, he has to carry the can for the state and performance of our team. For years he had our team deliberately bombing the ball long down the sidelines. Is it no wonder that this is ingrained in our older mids - Viney, Clarry and Tracc - and why they cannot hit shorter targets. Goody’s game plan of ‘21 now no longer works. (Correction - the fitness side of that game plan still works, but we are just not fit enough). Goody can be compared to a rock band who’s had a major hit, but each new record sounds very much like the old hit. Last season I think was a huge wake up call for Goody. He realised that most of his players were not skilful enough to play the modern game style. This would normally entail a list rebuild. But the review last year set finals as the minimum pass mark for him. Goody’s dilemma was how to develop a sustainable game plan whose main players were not skilful enough to execute, yet still win enough games to play finals. Impossible task. A lovely man by all accounts, but sad to say he’s a one hit wonder (and there is nothing wrong with that), who has now lost control over the players and doesn’t have a game plan or personnel to make this club a force again. Time for change.
  10. I’ve heard from a usually unreliable source that Goody will keep his job next year. Therefore, I’m now assuming he may actually be sacked at years end.
  11. You and your bloody “Pumped baby!” Used to luv your posts. Im sick of the pumping. I’ve done nothing but pump, pump pump. I’ve been pumped up and let down so many times now I have ED ( emotional disturbance).
  12. Max has been missing his drop punt kicks at goal for years now. That will now never improve. Time to try the Peter Hudson flat punt when kicking for goal. More of the ball strikes the boot at the one time, much more than the drop punt - therefore less margin for error. Worth a shot - PH did ok using it.
  13. F...k! See this is why i am not a selector
  14. So, with Pert gone (thankfully), the question needs to be asked, who is now the front man / woman managing this project? Who is overseeing the new design work? Who is attending project meetings? Who is managing the funding shortfall? Who is leading the feasibility study? Surely it all doesn't come to a stop till the new CEO comes on-board! Given the leaks of the past few days, surely an email from our President explaining (as much as he can divulge) what is going on is warranted and required.
  15. At the risk of offending Werridee, here is a team i'd like to see that takes Tracc, Oliver and Viney out of our mids for the main - although occasional spurts through the middle would be ok - as long as its only one of them at a time. B. McVee May Lever HB. Rivers Petty Sestan Mid. Windsor Langford Langdon HF. Tracc Turner Chandler F. Viney Jeffo JVR R. Max Bowie Kossie Bench. Oliver, Fritsch, Lindsay, Laurie - Salem.
  16. Kalani White (200cm) and Benji Van Rooyen (202cm underager) would be an exciting combo.
  17. I see young Van Rooyen is in the best players for WA. He’s the VR I believe we should chase.j He’s 202cm and underage by the way.
  18. he should try kicking left footed. Can't be any worse.
  19. How is that a cheap shot? He very carefully worded the statement you quoted, and it is absolutely true. Something hopefully time will mend for Trac, but for now it doesn't look good.
  20. Just saw this quote about JVR taken from Zero Hanger: "However, winning a hitout is just half the battle of a ruck contest. The other half is knocking the ball to the advantage of a teammate to gain possession. No other non-ruck has been better at this facet of ruck craft than Jacob van Rooyen this season. The Demons key forward has rotated in and out of the Melbourne side in 2025, having featured in just eight games with struggles to get opportunities in front of the big sticks. However, when required, he's been much more than a servicable replacement for the AFL's greatest ruckman Max Gawn, hitting the Sherrin to advantage 33.3% of the time. While van Rooyen understandably has one of the lower ruck contests competed in per game with 12.5, he is wildly effective in those contests. In fact, van Rooyen's hitout to advantage rate of 33.3% is not just the best amongst non-rucks, it's the best in the entire league with rucks included too!" Perhaps we should view him as a forward pocket ruckman rather than a key position forward. Jeffo and Turner as keys, with JVR in the pocket.
  21. The Club will do what it thinks best Re the coaching position. All the talk in the world here ain’t gonna change that, especially this year. So instead of all the destructive chat about sacking Goody, how about we put our thinking hats on and find some constructive ways we can improve this year. Here’s my take: Solve our forward connection and we become a good side. Why is our forward connection so bad? I believe at least 80% of the issue is delivery, and probably 20% forward line personnel. How do we fix our delivery? Don’t play Tracc, Oliver or Viney as mids. Get players in the middle who can deliver. Kossie, Langford, Bowie, Laurie for example. Let Tracc, Oliver, And Viney earn the right to play as a mid by improving their delivery skills. If they can’t then they play up forward or warm the bench, or go to Casey. That’s my 2 cents worth.
  22. I’m so looking forward to the bye. I cannot take much more and I’m exhausted. And the TV is going to take about 2 weeks to repair. I’m hating loving this team!
  23. I don’t care what the final score is, Oliver , Tracc and Viney can please leave
  24. You just know that Kossie will have a stinker this week and then there will be hell to pay on DL re the length of his contract.
  25. I luv the fence yelling at clouds.
