Big mistake to sack your current CEO and only announcing that your going to find another one. It reeks of on the fly decision making at its worst. What if we find no decent candidates what then! We are paying $125,000 for nothing that is probably close 500,000 worth of revenue wasted. I would of least tried to hold onto him until a replacment was confirmed. I liked the idea of Jimmy becoming head of the Board but already I think he is a bit out of his depth. My judgement will be reseved though, till after the August debt reduction month. Really hope he proves me wrong but I doubt it at this stage.

I personally think we have made a big mistake on this one. I believe Paul was the best choice that we could of got to our club. I think Jimmy should of looked long term to see it pay out big time for us. Both Tennis and Golf were very successful in his tenure(especially tennis) and I can only hope Cameron Swaab (if it is his gig) will be be able to do as good. Saying that the board and CEO must be on good working terms otherwise it will be a disaster at the club. Good luck Paul. IE dont take drastic actions unless you have a plan in place and that plan needs to be forwarded to the members now.

Great Player but can he coach? We dont need rookies in the staff list. We need to get experienced coaches who know how to get results. I dont think I could stand "Demonlanders" saying he will be better next year, or the year after, or lets give him a chance to develop!!

I was not at the game and did not see any of it on TV. I am interested in how he played. Is his pace as explosive as they say? He looks a pretty solid kid and I hope has as much talent as they say.

Our team just has an all round lack of skill. Its not just in Handball either its also our foot skills as well. The skill shortage is so bad they we fail even when not under pressure. The skills coach should be given a fair "blast" for his lack of presentation by our players in the club. Also the players must also take a fair share of critism for there lack of skill. You cant execute any game plan with the skill level we have!! This is also the reason I think confidence is down. If you were playing on the field with these players how much faith would you have that they would deliver the ball to you on target. Endurance is not as important if the skills are at a high level (As you dont have to work as hard if the ball hits its target) but it should not be neglected either. If our game plan is a running game then endurance must be higher than average. "Coaches get to work, you know what bailey want and needs"

No Matter how you look at you have an ex carlton assistant coach saying that they did not do everything to win a match. This should at least make the AFL investigate the public allegation. It is my belief that carlton "Tanked" games to win the priority draft picks which netted then judd and krutzer. I obviously have no proof of this and thats why its just my opinion. My opinion is based on teams selected and matchups and how during games coaches actions and inactions affected the outcome of games. Many teams in the previous years at the bottom have played "new blood" when finals were out of contention. I think this is a fairly sensible idea for a club. The question for each person is at what stage does this become "tanking" and not just "preparing" for next season. For years Kevin sheedy applied this method and publicly stated this philosophy. The AFL may have to bring in some guidelines/rules to set down what teams can and cant do. I do agree with Gouga suggestion on draft picks. This makes winning more of a priority for the lower clubs. I dont believe any club would trade a chance at a premiership for number 1 draft pick. IE : "tanking" games to drop out of the eight. This also means coming last in the seasons gain you no benefit but still gives you a below 10 first round pick.

Just got back from the Game. I live in bendigo! Best players Davey (By a country mile), Brad Miller, sylvia Altough we went down by about 5 goals here are some good points from the game (1) When Neitz, davey and Robbo were on the ground at the same time the forward line looked real good. (2) The back line was Solid but mistakes within the midfield were extremely costly (Miller + Carroll were best here). (3) Jamar was in good position all night but handling errors ruined his performance. Overall we need practice with tackling and holding on. We seemed to be able to catch the target but many times players easily evaded the tackle. (perhaps the gets the storms tackle coach out for a session). I feel we over used the ball in the midfield and this lead to turnovers or loss of ball control. FIx these items and we will string many wins together. Dont lose heart yet people there was a lot of promise shown in the game.

I think its a fair assessment of Melbournes Back line. I would like to see more cohesion in our back line (IE working for each other better). I think carroll has done a brilliant job and should be allowed to continue to do so. Other teams have used team work to break down the big full forwards from other clubs and we need to just do it better. Barry Hall, Matthew Lloyd and the like can both be stopped if back lines help each other (Either to fill the lead in gaps or an extra man up to punch the ball clear) I hope a lot more effort is put into our defense this year as I already believe our midfield and forward line is good enough to win the flag.

This about sums up my thinking. Defence is our weakest area and his return to full strength and fitness will be a deciding factor in many games.

When North Melbourne became "The Kangaroos" its was all over from there for them. This was the first step in de-melbournising them. If anyone puts up a name change to OUR club we have to fight tooth and nail as it will probably be the first of many small changes to remove Melbourne from Melbourne. As many posters already have said its about money; and money flows from bums on seats.

If during the trade period carlton and Judd cant come to an agreement and judd Puts himself into the pre season draft. Is there any rule that stops Carlton from using their No. 1 pick from picking Judd up in the draft and not pay West Coast anything?

Its Great that Matthew Knights got the essendon Coaching job. 3 years at the helm of the Bendigo bombers and played in 2 finals and lost both. That shouldn't be hard for Bailey to overcome that!!

I think A big opportunity missed! On the other hand it could be the greatest decison of all time. Lets give the man a chance and see what he can do.

I like a player who is willing to trust his own skill and ability to take on another player. It can be a case of "you win some you lose some" but with more experience I believe he will learn when to take on and when not to. A great player in the making and a will be a key player in the midfield for melbourne for the rest of this decade.

Maybe we should ask ourselves who made Hird, LLyod, Fletcher and lucas Champions. Then employ that person to make the likes of Green, Bruce, Davey and Jones into Champions. Nearly all Players in the AFL have Talent but so few become champions.

The Cats. Played the better footy and deserve to win the flag. So long as its not brisbane or sydney(AFL Pets) I will be reasonably happy.

I dont want him as coach either. But if he Gets the job I will judge him on his performance at melbourne and not on his past. My main reason for not wanting him as coach is his lack of success at freo. We are where freo was 6 years ago. PS I had to eat my words on Grant Thomas when he was appointed coach at St Kilda. I thought he was a total loss and thought him to be less than Tim Watson as a coach!!!!

Does anyone know how Michael Braun's name was linked to the Aker comments. I have read akers column, as well as seen aker on TV but never does he ever mention a name. I know aker has now informed the drug agency of his suspicions but where did the media draw Braun's name from. Anyone out there got a clue to this riddle?

These are the sorts of things that should determine who is captain. I believe that you cant groom just anybody for the captaincy. The qualities should already be there you just need to cleanup the edges. My pick Nathan Carroll.

Just curious if we were to get Sheedy (which i hope we do); How many years contract would you give Him? I reckon a three year deal would be the go. Short term contracts mean short term thinking and that will not win us a flag.

I wont write pickett off yet. There is still talent left there! Its up to Himself and MFC to find it and display it where it counts.
