To Hell & Back Episode 3
Really enjoying the series. The last episode was the best yet. Great insight into what this club is doing. We are so far ahead of last year and we’ve really got the right people into the club. Loved watching the boys get around Kozzy and get him through it.

POSTGAME: MS01 vs Adelaide
Sure it was a practice match but we sure ran it out well. (Burgess Effect) Trac was amazing. Let’s hope this is his breakout. Heard Liam Pickering on radio last night. Said he spoke to Jordan Lewis last week. Lewis said Petracca finally has his act together. Kozzy looks like he’ll be an excitement machine. Viney well. Seems to be covering the ground well and disposed of the footy well. Clarry was good however needs to stop looking for a close handball. When he kicks it he kicks it well. Just needs to do it more. Brown will be handy. Worked well with Tmac who had his kicking radar on We really missed a ruckman. Mids did well despite this. Lever Intercepted well early on. We need May though as another exit kick option. Pretty happy overall.

Maroochydore Training Camp 2020
If Gawn is good to go round one he plays. If he needs another week or so then he won’t. I doubt the club will leave him in stands if he’s good to go.

TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2019
I’m sure I read somewhere that KK would be ramping things up after the break. I couldn’t find the article but pretty sure there was an update recently on a training article.

Cheers for all the reports. I think they’d be just managing the loads of a few players particularly Viney.

Rating Our 2019 Draft
Our draft was played down due to the perceived idea of taking a player at 3 that we didn’t need and a small forward at 12 that we need but could have got later. I think it’s universally agreed we did well with Rivers at 32. Jackson at 3 wasn’t a reach. At least a handful of other recruiters would have taken him at 3. Taylor doesn’t think he is only a ruck and has the agility to play key forward or even as a mid. Interestingly Twomey said he’s more advanced than Grundy at the same age. Pickett at 12 I did think may have been a reach. However I feel he wouldn’t have likely got to another pick had we traded. Word was hawks and port were keen and possibly dogs. There actually wasn’t another player like him in the draft. Weightman is a very good small forward but doesn’t have the pressure Pickett does. The notion you can get players as rucks through trading and small forwards later in the draft and as rookies is fine. But why not take a chance on these guys who we have right in front of us. Plus Jackson has massive scope to improve. I’d give us a B. I think we’ve done well. But I understand that we may have reached on Pickett and gone Young over Jackson. Which I’d have been fine with to. But I’m happy with how it panned our. The trade with Freo was very savvy to help us land Rivers. I like the kid reckon he’s going to be at least a very good player.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
I’d love to get Pickett. But 10 feels a reach to me. Although I wonder how keen the Hawk are at 11. Pickett is the type we need. But I think we’ll be able to split 10 and get him.

TRAINING: Monday 18th November 2019
What I’d want to know is the improvements or lack thereof from last year. Or prior. Some players like ANB Jones and Tmac are aerobic beasts. They’ve constantly been up the front for years. They are most likely natural runners. Trac and Clarry aren’t likely to finish up them top but I’d like to see improvement from these guys. Which I assume we are. Also I wasn’t aware Bedford was such a good runner.

TRAINING: Monday 18th November 2019
There was some video put up on twitter of AVB doing some leading and marking types drills. Seemed to be moving freely.

TRAINING: Monday 11th November 2019
The players are looking in great shape. Obviously sticking to the program has helped and getting an early start. Sparrow is shaping up to be a powerful unit.

Sam Murray
I think we should have a go. You’d think he has leaned his lesson now. I thought he showed some really good signs at Collingwood.

Groundballs Inside 50
Petracca has said he wants more mid time. So I suspect Burgess will strip him back a bit. But he’s very valuable in the forward line so we’ll have to get the split right.
-
Jacob Townsend
Not opposed to recruiting this guy. Will be decent depth as a role player up forward. Probably fight ANB for a spot. Looks like he might be off to giants and we haven’t been linked.

2019 AFL National Draft Thread
I’ll have to do a bit more research but as it stands if we keep 3+8 I’ll be happy with 2 of Young Serong Stephens Weightman Flanders.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
I heard Mahoney on MMM this morning. He said he is still on the phone this weekend. Didn’t go into specifics but sounds like we’ll be looking at splitting the pick.
-
Farewell Sam Frost
Pick 30 will do it. Hawks might want to give up less but seems they’re pretty keen.
-
Farewell Sam Frost
Yep. I heard it. Talked Frost down basically saying he did well but we had a lot of players out. Something along those lines. Didn’t sound like there was an option for Frost to stay.
-
Farewell Sam Frost
We’ll probably be looking to use that money. So it’s a possibility.
-
Farewell Sam Frost
I think he was a lot safer with ball in hand than Frost. Chip was AA.
-
Farewell Sam Frost
Agree. However Clarkson generally won’t play guys in the back half with his foot skills and decision making.
-
Farewell Sam Frost
The club is looking like they are going to back in Burgess to get May and Lever up and running. Also Hawthorn seemingly value Frost more than us. I like Frost but we can be easily seduced by Frost Ball. But he’s too much of a liability by foot. He needs to be contained somewhat. Maybe hawks more confident of doing this. Hopefully hawks give us more than a token pick.

Small forwards - what are our trading and draft options?
I’m thinking we definitely need small forwards. No idea if Chandler or Bedford will make it. I think if we split the pick we’ll draft Weightman. Not sure why we wouldn’t be looking at Butler.

Jamie Elliott
We should definitely go for this guy. Won’t cost a kings ransom. I’d say he’s a reasonable chance to leave given the cap issues Pies will face.
