Playing like this, it doesn't matter where we finish up next week, we'll just be making up numbers. We keep kicking to the wing, but we have hardly anyone who can actually take a mark or kick the goal when they do, and we have Max who doesn't know where the goals are anymore. I hope they have written "buy a good for forward" and a proper forward coach on the whiteboard. The window for "we'll come good" is getting smaller by the second. Ugh, what a waste. -
Patrick Cripps FREE to play

This outcome takes me back to Chandler, whose only real fault on that night was not being a Cripps :-( -
I don't have any major issues with 'no change', we didn't lose last week because the team isn't right (as such), we lost because we missed a few we should have slotted (and probably would have most other days). 13-11 is not a terrible day at the office. And the Pies were having a day in front of goal they likely can't replicate, and got the rub of a few frees they shouldn't have. I will add, I'd have liked to see Harmes get a game, maybe at the expense of Jordon who has not looked right, but I guess the faith is being shown in Jordon and the likes of ANB getting the job done. I reckon the boys now have additional fire in the belly from the loss to the Pies, and will look to atone bigtime against Carlton. On the topic of JVR, what's the point of bringing in someone underdeveloped, who will most likely suffer from the same issues plaguing most forwards in our team - poor delivery/bombs i50 etc. I don't think many forwards would survive with our current approach. If we work on our delivery, we might just find Brown, Fritter and the rest in better positions to score (aside from Gawn - his misses have generally had little to do with delivery). JVR would almost be set up to fail, and there'd be a loud contingent of people calling for his premature exit. Nah, let's get him right, but specially our delivery and approach. We've got this. Pound for pound, we demolish the Blues. Let's just get it done, then tear the Lions a new one.

None of this Grundy talk appeals to me. Maxy is not a good enough kick to have up forward (in fact, he terrifies me every time he kicks for goal - although he is not alone), and there is no assurance Grundy will be fit enough for FIVE years to warrant that kind of money. I get that we'll need another ruckman if Jackson goes (and we are in a premiership window), but we should look for somebody younger to learn the craft, or maybe throw some good $$$ at someone like Tom De Koning when out of contract. Flynn? With the quality of our midfield, it almost doesn't even matter... I think we need someone decent/good who can help out to give Max a chop out, and let him *gulp* roam forward to kick *goals* On the topic of goals, instead of plonking money on a ??? Grundy, we should probably focus on landing someone up forward who can kick goals, Fritter should not be our #1 goalkicker.

100% - we need to (and should) destroy the Blues this week, with or without Cripps. -

Due to concussion, Ah Chee will miss this week - but he should also miss the next 10 for allowing his face to interfere with Cripps' elbow. -
Demons will win the flag in 2022.

The next game against the Blues is critical. I'm not interested in dropping one of these games, we really need to win both as it's too close to finals to simply say, oh we'll put it together in the finals. It's like performing poorly in a practice exam, and assuming, with no other changes, that we'll perform in the final exam. We won't. This is our preparation for finals - we only have two more rounds to do it! We did a lot right on Friday, but as we learned then, we can still be beaten if we don't execute. Anyway. Aside from beating GWS and the Eagles (yawn), the Blues' last 6 weeks has shown them being beaten by the Saints, Crows and the Lions. They are not traveling well right now, and there is no excuse for us not bringing the heat against them, and locking away a solid win before we travel north for another win on the road. -
To be fair, I think Howe's IQ matches his playing number. Like most, if not all of them. Look at De Goey, for example.

It's been 2.5 days since the loss. And I'm still burning by this one. By far the most painful loss of the year - compounded by the fact that it was the 2nd loss to the Pies, and that we threw it away. Make no mistake, for this outcome to happen - we wasted our many, many chances and the Pies played their very, very best. I think we're playing decent-good footy right now (certainly better than v Freo/Cats earlier this year), so we're on the up no doubt, but I hope this will burn in our guts for finals, because we may play the Pies again, and they will be buoyed by 2 wins (sort of like our 2 wins against the Cats last year) - so they will be starting with momentum and intense belief, and their manic pressure, so we will have to do just about everything right to reverse the outcome. Which will be perfect, sending the Pies packing. When it counts. What we need to get rid of? Easy misses, giggles after easy misses (let's get some footage of Maxy and Co doing some goal kicking drills, lots of them), and handballing to the most under pressure member of the team,

100% on board with this. It's so easy to be romanticised by the brief, bright sparks. Don't get me wrong, Dogga may very well develop into what he is being touted as, but he may not - and in any event it's all moot, because if he wants to go home and this is not where his heart is, or we have to throw everything we have to keep him, which will mean we're missing $$$ to keep some of the other pieces of the puzzle, then it's not worth it. It creates friction in the team, and leads to the kind of mentality on show by May earlier this year. Everyone has a role, and everyone needs to play that role, week in and out to make this dynasty we speak of. We're not far off a perfect side. Aside from smarter delivery i50, we need to look for a forward or two, or at least someone who can play up forward, like Logue.

Best summation I have read of present circumstances in a while. I want us to show every other team the respect they deserve, because only then can we play the honest/hard-working footy that would wipe every other team off the ground this year, easily.

Lol Buckley is trying to take the credit for the Pies' position haha. He was a crap coach, they're now performing with a good coach.

Yep, umpiring was suss at times and a few of their frees were soft and cost us goals, but the reality is Max, Salem and Kozzie missed sitters in front of goal. Kick those, and we're singing the song right now. Instead I have to see Maynard's dumb face on screen.

This one burns. Pies 2-0. Goals win matches. Too much cute stuff and wasteful i50 entries. Pies played out of their skins, took their chances, kicked way more GOALS than points and rode their luck. We need to beat the Blues and the Lions to enter finals with momentum. At this rate I'd hate to play the Pies in the finals.

Confident? Not really. The Pies have their tails up and we looked under serious pressure for pretty much that whole quarter. But I'm holding hope that they spent all their tickets in that quarter, and rode their luck. It has to run out, right? WE HAVE TO MAKE THE MOST OF OUR OPPORTUNITIES INSIDE 50!!!! -
