  1. Who is “we” exactly though? Because Goodwin apparently doesn’t. If we’re to believe him, forces higher up are about to strip him of a club champion. A champion who he believes he can still manage and return him to his best form. So either that’s not how he really feels, or the club are officially saying they have no confidence he can. This all fits in with the notion that one of Goodwin’s characteristics is being “mates” with the players. I can’t help but be reminded of the teachers I had in high school who wanted to be “in” with the students (“the ones who’d say “None of that ‘mister’ stuff, call me Steve”). You liked them but you didn’t fear them, and you were often trying to find out where the boundaries actually were.
  2. The money is exactly why you sign it. It should be a fixture of any AFL contract.
  3. I will never understand how these contracts don’t have behavioural clauses that give clubs the option of termination. And by “termination” I mean, not paying another [censored] club a single cent.
  4. Love Claz, but I’m pretty sure whoever the greatest player of the modern era is knows how to kick.
  5. Cool, so Goody wants one of his mates to come aboard. No coaching experience? Who cares, they can figure it out. The important thing is Goody and Sloane have lots of shared learnings to get nostalgic about Oh and number one defender of “the camp”. Keep him away.
  6. Or it just makes Oliver look devious.
  7. Have received a few texts from non-MFC mates in the last half hour. Bit unnerving.
  8. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but for the Swans to redeem themselves it now requires an astonishing feat of self-belief. If they were to even make another GF with this squad, the game-day nerves would be paralysing. If their losses were close (or even just “competitive”), it would be a totally different story.
  9. This Swans squad needs to be completely dismantled, and the parts sold off. To embarrass yourselves so profoundly for the second time on the big stage…why would you even want to risk it happening again?
  10. Hmmm, he signed an extension with Port late last year that sees him there till end of 2026, so we wouldn’t get him until 2027.
  11. Folks decrying the various negative reactions to this news certainly have a point. It is obviously a step in the right direction. But even though I’ve seen our lack of base as the most glaring stain on our club’s metaphorical tuxedo, any potential jubilation is tempered by the fact that this is a solution to a tediously-long problem that should have never occurred in the first place.
  12. I’m enjoying how this thread is becoming like the end of a Scooby Doo episode.
  13. One of the greatest deceptions ever pulled off was the Catholic Church convincing society that Mother Theresa was in any way remotely, a “good person”. She was in actual fact, a psychopathic grifter with a penchant for other people’s suffering. Anyway, as you were….
  14. “The times are always changing” Phase three billion and seventy.
  15. Indeed he does. However I’m not sure what “the best” from Trac is going to look like, considering what I imagine will be a far-from-ideal pre-season for him. He’s in a tough spot if he wants to move on. Unless he miraculously pulls off a blinding season, he’ll be a 30 year-old player with a question mark over his head.
  16. Is this actually Joe Rogan?
  17. I look forward to reading some book in twenty years that actually tells me what’s been happening at the club for the last three.
  18. I can handle that if I must, but do not dare to invade the sacred space between my gymnasium and the company I bought some adhesive patches from seven years ago.
  19. I am a little weirded-out by the affronted reactions to receiving an unsolicited email in 2024.
  20. No doubt there will be some spicy comments on this thread. Thanks for 11 years of service Greg.
  21. Rivers signed on till 2027 only just last year. I get the “every player is gettable” nature of AFL contracts these days, but how would a deal with a WA team play out in this scenario?
  22. Yeah, I’d say a busted jaw and several dislodged teeth fits the description of “really ugly”.
  23. Yep. Insane thing to do, and all the more nuts because he was an otherwise very reserved AA wingman. He might have even qualified for the AFL “Good Guy Pass™️” if it was seven years later. Bradshaw was 18 years old. Smashed jaw and dislodged teeth, in tears with so much pain he wouldn’t let them pull his mouth guard out. Poor Mrs. Brayshaw has had to deal with a lot watching her sons play footy. I read an interview with Andrew Brayshaw, who wanted it known that he’d forgiven Gaff (who incidentally grew up a Dees supporter). In a very eerie coincidence, Andrew Gaff arrived at Andrew Brayshaw’s house with an apology and a bunch of flowers. At least he wasn’t mentally-busted enough to bring wine though.
  24. Great news. Four years is well and truly in order. Lingers is not going to lose that military-grade tank of his anytime soon.
