  1. I think the Alice is a great environment for us to retain! The 'heart of the nation' concept bodes well also, allowing us to celebrate the indigenous involvement of our game which is important. 1. Retain Alice 2. Remove Darwin..
  2. If the proposal comes to be, I think PJ will go down as one of Melbourne's greatest leaders in history. There may be room for a 'PJ Wing' if he pulls it off! As a kid, I always asked my Dad why Richmond's oval is 'right there', and last weekend at the QB match, walking past it after coming off the Richmond station, scooting past the Cricketer's Arms, and crossing Punt Road, gave me an uncomfortable feeling. (Although, maybe it was the two drunken Collingwood fans that stammered in unintelligibly 'crissed as a picket' language, "carn' the wood, you'll be lucky to win Dees fans" - and, only to be correct...) So, maybe it was that which made me uncomfortable? (Nevertheless, I did respond by stating audibly that I still have my front teeth..!) Ok, I digress... I think it would be amazing if we had a home ground, so close to the hallowed turf, on my favourite side of the 'G'! Fingers are definitely crossed...
  3. Hi all, As you all know, we've got Port at Adelaide Oval this week. Last week, we had the wide and long MCG where we've struggled this year. Some have fairly put that down to a lack of outside running, but when we look at Collingwood's performance on the QB weekend, they also cut us up through the middle. So, my question is, based on the table below, what type of game-style should we 1. expect from Port and 2. use to our advantage (if we have one). Port has a very solid midfield, so where do you think the game will be won or lost? My personal view: 1. Port will have the long option well-tuned, 2. With such a narrow oval, longitudinal separation, kicking to the free-man with a quick-hands to flow on will do it. I hope others can share their views as for me this is an interesting topic on game-style. Cheers, DN
  4. Nice analysis there DS! I wholeheartedly agree- DK has major upside when he’s on, and if slotted in when we need him, I’m sure he’ll rise to the occasion
  5. Yep, Spargo has been a breath of fresh air. Can’t remember the last time I’ve seen someone so young completely throw themselves at the ball, continuously attack the oppo and back himself to take the game on like he does. With time, polish and fitness will come, even improved decision making, but he’s absolutely competitive and he makes up for his stature in his aggressiveness at the contest. Just wish Trac showed more of this!!
  6. I know... a little self-indulgent but, BUMP!
  7. Gotta admit, despite the loss, it was an absolute pleasure being secretly flown to the game from Sydney, without my prior knowledge, with most of my immediate family flanked beside me to watch the game! We’ve got work to do, the earlier in the season we learn that the better!!!
  8. I was at the game too, but I wasn't at the Lockett end, I was behind the opposite goals. Couldn't believe it...
  9. Having said all of the above... I do admit a fast, open, free flowing and high scoring game is far more entertaining. We all love celebrating our favourite players putting one through the middle. So the Melbourne/Richmond/Collingwood (as much as it kills me to say it) and WCE current game-play is appealing and delivers. But ultimately, I really get worried when I hear that NRL gets higher ratings than AFL on TV. I say, Scrap GWS (possibly make them an ACT team) and GCS's, and bring on a Tassie (Devils?) and a NT (Crocks) team. Because every time AFL trumps NRL, I get a little warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Just my 2 cents.
  10. Remarkably similar to Lever in his gait, and his positioning! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obCR1skgJB8 Not a bad look-in, hope he has a pearla'
  11. Agree, it would have been super easy to put Garlett in for the game in the Alice. But Goody and Co sent the right message on that day! Go dees!!!
  12. Not looking forward to Fat Ed over excited about Jumping Jeremy taking a speccie over his old team mates... I hope Pedo gets a run and accidentally falls on his springs - thus rendering them useless
  13. Despite his absence, Vanders represented a competitive player who would’ve fit nicely into our team.
  14. Oh this is hilarious! The clear absence of Melbourne players on the park (only on the pine) tells me that 1. Slobbo might actually read this forum, and 2. He’s taken offence to his acquired namesake! ???
  15. I did also laugh at the (DL) publically accepted term “slobbo”
  16. Future thinker: like it, agree with your longer-term synopsis. Wines would be a gun, but at some point our midfield would negate the availability of KPPs at both ends of the ground.. i also agree with your Gaff perspective- with a team currently slicing through the middle, is it that necessary?
  17. IMO Kent, Frost and ANB should be held onto, on their day they’re all unstoppable
  18. Loved the way he spoke about the dees on DL a few weeks ago and I’m confident he’ll re-sign! We love Nev!
  19. I really like how the Dees have been having weekly positive news stories like this! Re-signings, new sponsors, it all amounts to a stable off-field environment. Keeps us positively focused on the week ahead! Onya Tommy-Gun! Go Dees!!!
  20. I have no idea about GF prospects, but all I can say is that should one occur, DL skelpers PM me!!!
  21. Our run home will be a huge test from an injury perspective. We’ll get to the point where we’re fighting hard against strong opponents and it’s likely that in that fight we’ll inevitably get one or two players out for some time. If anything, this should drive our 2’s players pushing up for selection. But I must admit it does worry me..
  22. Question on September: should I upgrade my (NSW) armchair membership to ensure finals tickets??? Does anyone know?
