  1. 3x coffees today was not a good idea, maybe I’ll have to bring in a cheese board to clog it all back up (sorry if you’re having lunch)... in reality, had a nice breakfast in the bloc arcade, wandered around town, bought some long-johns for under the jeans tonight - it’s a bit colder here than Sydney! Glad to be here but terribly nervous ?
  2. Clarko made a great comment in the presser tonight, one Goody should hear: “tactics don’t make premiership teams, systems based teams win premierships.” Melbourne is a systems based team, high pressure, contested ball, good set up behind the ball, ball played in forward half. We should stick to the 6:6:6 and back our game (system) in, and not get too creative Re: 8 behind the ball etc...
  3. Nibbler debut against cats in 2015 resulted in 3 goals. Hope he does it again!!
  4. It’s surprising that my little brother (cats fan) wants Melbourne to win - he says it’s our time.
  5. Correct, I feel I’m not qualified to respond - except, Go Dees this weekend!!!
  6. There has been a few professional free kicks this year, even we have done it a few times to give our backs time to set up. Honestly, I don’t like it, it’s not in the spirit of the game.
  7. Haha! I will be impressed if I see a few supporters devouring their delicacies on cheese boards.
  8. Wow! But let’s hear what he has to say. Surely he knows what the public and most of the AFL community thinks of those years!
  9. Haha! I get your sentiment, but just back the boys in, you have no choice anyway!!
  10. Yep I prefer being underdogs- Geelong are clutching on times past - I hope the umpires call what they see on the day, go Dees!!!
  11. Tend to agree, the ranking by @Maluski wasn’t bad either. The last 6 chipped in and held up their end of the bargain, WC and GWS are excellent examples of that, but I do agree with @Skuit, if our top six aren’t playing their part, we’re doomed.
  12. Don’t worry, Jetta will check-side his jaw like he did in 2015 at the cattery - it floored him ?
  13. My preferences: B - Jetta OMAC Lewis HB - Salem Frost Hibberd C - Brayshaw Oliver Jones Foll - Viney Gawn Harmes HF - Melk Weid AVB F - Fritch TMAC Spargo Int - Trac Nibbler Hannan JKH The blocks of 6 look really intimidating on paper. Trac and Nibbler give a lot of flexibility, Gawn can rest with Weid moving around. We’re not short of firepower up front either. It’s gonna be and interesting game! The only question I have here is JKH, maybe Smith to give the backline more flexibility if there’s an injury? Go Dees!!!
  14. For me, the two guys who umpired the West Coast game we’re pretty good in the end - they didn’t let the home crowd get to them
  15. That is a huge boost! Add to that, they’ll likely play ruckman Abbott who will get thrashed by Gawn. I suspect Geelong will be doing plenty of ruck-sharking drills in the lead up.. Gee I hope we don’t get umpire Nichols...
  16. Clearly he hasn’t hit his straps fully yet, but on average it’s about 80 games or so they say, so we have time. The only thing that worries me that I see every game in the warm up, he always looks completely exhausted before first bounce. Head slouched, hands on hips, he really looks like he’s in the hurt locker. Is he rising just before game time, is he pushing too hard before it? Does anyone have any insight into his routine?
  17. I really found it hard to scroll through this thread.. I think my pre-game anxiety is starting early this week.. I saw Brad Scott on 360 this week, flatly deny/dismissing any possibility that Melbourne might be a threat, he could only muster words to the effect “if we lose it’s not about our team or our preparation, but only due to a better team on the day”. I took from that statement, that he can only see us winning by luck. I’m not sure if I interpreted his comments correctly or not, but it just seemed to wreak of arrogance.
