I was watching closely for any evidence of this in the JLT, and thought Max held his ground very well, against a couple of big units in Goldstein and Hickey. Even when Max held the best position and the opposition ruckman hit him at pace to knock him out of the way, he stood his ground very well and won a lot more hitouts than he lost. His ability to stay on the park is huge for us, probably our most important player IMO.

Excellent summary.

VFL Practice Match - Casey Demons v Port Melbourne
BigFez replied to Drunkn167's topic in Melbourne Demons
Never had a serious run in but goodness me I've heard some nonsense from oppo supports in my time. -
That was refreshing. People actually expressing opinions instead of just ripping into each other like on every Facebook post you read lately.

GEELONG superstar Patrick Dangerfield will miss the season opener after tweaking his hamstring early in the Cats final pre-season hitout. - Scott Gullan

Now I'm hearing slight calf from some Geelong supporting friends. Best off waiting for the official report I guess! The rumour mill is in overdrive.

Suspected foot injury according to the AFL Update. Can't speak for the reliability of this source.

VFL Practice Match - Casey Demons v Port Melbourne
BigFez replied to Drunkn167's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mate, sorry for the generalisation, but opposition supporters are a pack of dogs, that's why I'm stoked to have chosen the Demons, where our supporters are all class, cheese boards and Range Rovers. There almost needs to be a thread on 'things opposition supporters have done to p!ss me off'. I'm sure we'd all have a story or two like this, perhaps not one involving a family member though. Wishing Dec a speedy recovery. -
Interesting stat, Port have kicked 12 straight in the second half. Must be some kind of record.

I know its only a JLT match but did he ever kick 6 in any form for us?
-
Make that 6.

First thing Roos says in the 3rd is “if we turn our focus to St Kilda”. Someone must’ve had a word to him at half time.

RIP Mav Weller.

The idea of being able to purchase just your teams' matches as a package, or even being able to purchase single matches as a pay per view arrangement would be gold. I would gladly be extorted for that.

Gee I just assumed he was because he was given odds. Shame on me for trusting Sportsbet. Looks like he turned 21 on the 6th December so might be 3 weeks too old. Will have to look into it further when I haven’t had a Sunday sesh.

Currently a juicy $51 for rising star. If: A) he gets a game and B) he plays like that every week, could be the value bet of the year. Most likely kidding myself but surely a tenner on him wouldn’t hurt?

Post Match Discussion: JLT #1 vs North Melbourne

And I can also confirm there were $5 full strength cans. And with under 2000 people there you didn't even have to line up! Pretty disappointing crowd, particularly since the weather ended up being fine. -
Post Match Discussion: JLT #1 vs North Melbourne

I was at the game. Rocked up in jeans and a jacket and ended up sweating and getting a sunburnt face, classic Hobart. Quite windy but not as bad as the two roster matches over the last couple of seasons. I was watching Oscar closely, his body work in the one on ones was very good, his decision making and execution were also good, apart from one handpass that was picked off and they scored from it. Bugg stood out, as did ANB and Harmes. Lever was very instructional, especially when we had the ball locked in our F50, he was organising the backs. Stretch is a running machine, but didn't have a huge impact. All day we just looked a few levels above the opposition, which is a nice change for us demons supporters. Even when they bounced back in the second, you could just tell it wasn't really going to be a contest in the end. Really enjoyed Hibbered making Waite look stupid in the final quarter. That bloke is a gun and I'm stoked we have him.- 298 replies

That first one when we lost by a kick and Lindsay &@&$ Thomas of all people made the spoil that stopped us having a shot after the siren. That was torture.

Can confirm it is pizzing down in Hobart city at the moment, and from all reports once the rain clears the wind will start up. Bloody typical, it’s hardly rained all summer and aside from last week the weather has been sensational, and every time melbourne come down it’s terrible. Anyway I’ll be in the can bar drinking $12 mid strength beers. Go dees!

Robbo (Mark) doesn't think we'll make finals

Add Hogan to the list of injury free. Huge names there. -

Pizz poor analysis. He is right about one thing though, I don't trust them (yet) to win a game that really needs winning. Really hope that changes this year. If we lose to North in Rd 3 I'll be about as annoyed as I was in round 23 last year. -

While King would be 'staggered' if we didn't make it. Both agree that the fitness of Gawn, Viney and Hogan will be pivotal in determining how we go. I'd love to hear what everyone's crystal balls are telling them about 2018 in terms of where we and others will finish this year.
