  1. One theory is that the VFL allows for more thuggery because of the lack of camera's on the entire field. And probably a bit of VFL<AFL jealousy. Will we have footage of what happened inside that pack?
  2. Jeremy McGovern is everything we needed TMAC to be in round 23.
  3. No excuses, but you'd also be kidding yourself if you did not rate the filth. At their best they are a 5-8 team like us, but even more inconsistent than us. some unbiased perspective on the pies in this forum wouldnt go astray. Now i will go and wash myself thoroughly after typing that.
  4. We should ask the AFL to put us in the top 1-6 fixturing bracket
  5. I guess we'll see them in 2019 finals after bouncing back up with a soft draw.
  6. Should remake the IT trailer but instead of scared children you could have Essendon players and instead of a clown you could have Buddy. Would be hilarious
  7. My bomber supporting nan with a Hird picture on her fridge died in 2012, some would say she was spared.
  8. One poster on DL that was derided, suggested we trade Gawn for Kelly. We've had 3 of the best innovative ruckmen of the modern era, but no premerships. But how many elite A grade Judd like mids? None. And yet Gawn is our best collateral for bringing in an elite mid like Kelly. Do we make a big and bold enough future changing move like the Boyd Trade and look to our depth ruck stocks or future ruck trades to add to an elite midfield group with Kelly and Oliver? Or give it a few years for this group to grow together and try and win a premiership? Oliver is the only elite consistent A grade mid i could put on the 'definite' list currently. Gawns year has me taking him off that list and into the 'unknown' category. Only Dean Cox is the premier year-long ruckmen I think that has had a massive influence on a premiership over the years, Ottens, Jolly, Keating were surrounded by elite mids. Most ruckmen have been. So how much do we actually need Gawn? Edit: Sorry for so many edits, had a few beers. Had to re-write this one as I know i'll be mocked for this.
  9. Pound for Pound, Do we match Riewoldt, Rance, Cotch & Dusty? As Hemingway succinctly said, they brought their team mates into the game with the desperation and aggressiveness that they played with. Who are our elite 4 that do the same across our spine? Perhaps our 22 are not far off, but what of our leadership in the games we should put away (when opposition is obviously inferior, like even "2nd place" geelong were tonight) ? One poster on reddits afl sub said richmond would make a GF 2 years ago based on their age list profile and elite talent, i think that may suggest the importance of having your elite talent in that 25-30 yr bracket. It still may still may mean that you can snag one premiership early (Dogs, Hawks) but you'll generally have a few years of heartbreak as you mature, before youre ready to make a big impact with a few years of success which the Tigers seem destined for with Martin Cotchin Rance and co.
  10. I'm guilty of it myself, but this thread has been good value. People need to keep their wit sharpened some how.
  11. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-09-08/saints-youngster-considering-options-at-other-clubs
  12. We wouldn't be playing GWS at the MCG ?
  13. Are you saying we could still sneak into the finals after a team gets banned for bringing the game into disrepute?
  14. This actually reminds me of the 00 prelim against the Kangaroos. We demolished them and finished off the last remnants of their era.
  15. Dion Johnstone, and another? Less inside midfielders in the forward line hey. We need players who have natural manic pressure and can do it all year
  16. No way, Geelong are one of the only clubs that can kick 4 goals in under 5-10 minutes in a final. They can't do much else though.
  17. Cats fans annoyed about the home crowd advantage here for Tigers, might want to blame the city of geelong for not planning to expand the population to 3 million over the last century
  18. I can't imagine our skills being slick on a night like tonight. Every possession would be 'wobbly'
  19. Missed it. But hopefully acting for a high free kick?
  20. Geel, GWS, WCE & PORT in one division would have to be the biggest joke of the year. All "Flat-track" bully's of various sorts.
