Why is it that Dee supporters can rationally accept the garbage served up by this team post quarter 1 on Sunday? Reality says this means obscurity again this year .. not enough ticker not enough footy smarts.. we don’t need to sack Goodwin just ask the basic question... earn your $500k mate or nick off... talk about headless chickens... or a team of eunuchs..

I think this is a disaster for coming games against Tigers and Dons. First three guys I would pick each week in our brittle team are Jones Lewis and Vince and the rest are just deck chairs to be shuffled as we try not to sink...again

Line in the sand for Goodwin... I was off selling Miles Davis and Charles Mingus Records at the local market and got home to the mountains for the start of the second quarter opened the Glenfiddick and sat to watch us deestroy the ‘awks and then bugger bugger bugger. Goodwin needs to assert some sense of direction now in one of two ways he can either treat it as an aberration or get strong and nasty. OUT... I reckon they’ll go for Stretch to replace Tyson on the wing and Brayshaw if Salem can’t come up (the sooty oystercatcher says he is okay after the concussion issue against Geelong but he has joined the Viney TMac duo with a hotspot on his foot).

I assume Goody will make at least one change just to keep the edge on the team and to provide a pathway for playing a cracker at Casey and that being the case from my game watching it would be either of ANB or Harmes to go (Melksham and Jetta get one more chance). To come in would be a tall forward in the Weed if he does well today otherwise one of the Smiths... but not Pedo who will see out his contract at Cranbourne (the possible smoky could be King?) Didn’t see last week, although followed demonland and the stats, but I did go to the G.. A lot of guys were passengers against the cats, Hunt certainly and last week 6 possessions? He needs the pressure off to reassess, so I see him out as sensible now and long term, he’ll be back Pedo, sorry but he is not best 22, and for those who think he is then the Dees are only a middle of the road team... thanks Pedo but in your last year you are depth Jetta Lever and Harmes are very lucky because they were awful in round one and apparently little if at all better round two. Kent and Frost in is a clear indicator to me that Goody is looking for a little more unpredictability... and both have it in spades regardless of where they play.. I reckon Frost will follow Waite not Brown, OMac will take care of him ... perhaps they will let Lever play on himself so he can get a kick.. Kent gets 4 matches to save his career... and he could be good with Jeffy Trac Fritta Melksh and Hoges

I would have thought the bigger problem here is one of leadership ... there is a need of leadership on the ground and I am comfortable with jones Lewis and Vince (sans Viney) but they all have to believe in the off field leaders .. the coaches.. do they? i would feel shaky out there on the ground if I can feel the other team surging and nothing positive is coming off the bench other than criticism or bleating to get tougher... ideas... positive reactions ... positional changes etc

I’ve stopped venting and after a quite cheroot I can reflect on my first live game in two years... 1. A centre square set up to put fear into the rest of the comp Max Clarry Trac and Jones (sans Viney) 2. We came back in the second half hard all over the ground and were systematically ruthless and tough (a final eight sign) 3. And we have options ..Frost Tyson Stretch Gus Kent Bugg (Viney TMac) and the kids won’t be thrown to the wolves..

This was the first game I had watched live in nearly 2 years and the first half was very disheartening but not because of our over use of handball but our tactics come/game plan for me. Centre bounces...our plan didn’t work of having 8 defenders with two Melsham and Hunt running off the back of the square for two reasons 1. Because it leaves the Cats with 6 on 4 in our forward line and one of the loose guys being Toohey Even if we win it They were able to chip it back to the centre and bang it over our heads to one on ones 2. It assumes we will win the centre clearance or break even and this is very possible if we have Clarry in there (at least twice he ran out to the wing because we had 5 in the centre) but against Ablett Selwood and Duncan he had to have Jones and Trac with him not Salem and Hannan or Maynard and Harmes!!! First time I had seen Clarry live and he was sensational in those centre bounces fighting Selwood and Ablett by himself... he must be at every centre bounce and play on ball the entire time he is on the ground don’t sit him at full forward.. and TOG % stats ... Salem 73%, Melksham 67%, Harmes 66%, Jones 76%, Maynard 75%, ANB 75%, Hannan 72% ... so all these guys only played 3 quarters of the match Ablett 93%, Selwood 80%, Duncan 86%, Kelly 91%, !!

My dreams of smoke that one day the demons would be so strong that our depth would cause many supporters heartache and mistrust of the selectors. Come on fill up that glass or toke that number because Tyson Frost Brayshaw Bugg Weed et al can’t get a game even with Viney and Tmac out and no kids are being sacrificed. Year of the Dee and ladder leaders.

Seems to me that Melksham (forward) Tyson (mid) are certainties to play and I can’t see why Brayshaw (Back) would miss if you take the longer view that this is his year to find some consistency and that leaves another spot for a mid and its probably between Hannan and Maynard. I would think it’s Maynard to give us strength against Selwood and Ablett rather than the pace of Hannan. Pity about Frosty I like his manic cowboy style...
