  1. What if we threw in a third round draft pick?
  2. I'd give Yze Magic a run on the banner.
  3. Why are you so desperate for that to be true?
  4. You're enjoying this too much.
  5. Lyon certainly thinks we're a chance of keeping him. If it's the done deal all here are suggesting Lyon would know. If Lyon knew, he wouldn't have gone public about talking to Scully this week - it just makes him look stupid and out of touch.
  6. I'd offer Scully the Captain/Coach role.
  7. We're all hurting right now. We're all embarrassed and we've all been copping it from friends and colleagues. Let's not turn on ourselves. I think I've broken my own rule of not slagging off players a couple of times and Adem Yze was the focus. I wasn't a fan of how he played and I'm not a fan of him going public with the tanking call but I do share his concerns. I raised the issue at the time and I raised it again earlier in the year and I raised it for a third time in this thread. Each time the response from this forum has been aggressive. It's a possible truth few of us are prepared to entertain. Denial has been constant. I love watching Scully and Trengove running around and like most here have pointed to them as our premiership keys but that doesn't I'm not allowed to feel uncomfortable with the way in which we obtained their services. I understand the hypocrisy. Watch the famous Richmond game again and then try to find another more blatant example of tanking in the history of National Drafts. The simple question I raised at the time, is whether it is possible for a team of players who've had their coach do whatever he can to so obviously sabotage their attempts at winning a game of football, to continue to respect their leader. 186 point losses aren't something you see everyday. Coaches being dumped within 24 hours of a game with 5 matches remaining in a season doesn't happen every year. If you're not prepared to at least consider the possible link between our tanking for a priority pick and the eventual demise of our coach and our current situation as the laughing stock of the league, then you're paying no respect to the role of a positive culture within a club. When I suggest we took tanking to new levels, I'm not ignoring the obvious attempts of Carlton to underachieve. West Coast played their kids and sent their veterens off to premature post-season surgery. North did it too and Wallace has admitted that he made very few coaching moves to optimize the chance of his team not winning. Carlton implemented a game plan against us that gave them little chance of winning. Bailey, however, coached the team to lose. We managed the list so that a poor team ran onto the field but unlike any other team in the history of the league we had to make moves designed to minimize our efficiency and effectiveness. The response of the Richmond coaching staff after their win and the response of the Melbourne crowd afterwards told a sad tale. And the saddest thing of all for me was the sick feeling I had immediately after cheering McMahon's kick all the way home. I'm not stupid, I understand how bloody significant that extra pick may well be but I think I'm entitled to question it's possible ramifications when the team I love continue to turn it up every single time they come up against a good opponent and fall behind early in a game.
  8. That's a fair call Nasher and at this low ebb there's little point in adding to the farcical state of panic but when things settle down a little I think the long term impacts of tanking on our club's culture need to be addressed. We can't compare ourselves to Carlton or other clubs - we took it to new levels. I asked the question some time ago and was ridiculed.
  9. Four out of seven of Demonland's banner boys were missing. Not quite sure if that is significant or not.
  10. Page 10 of this thread is one of the saddest things I've read on Demonland. Demented ignorance feeding off demented ignorance. The silent majority need to be heard. If posters are going to be attacked for supposedly supporting an individual ahead of the club then Messrs Stynes, Bailey and Schwab are guilty of the same charge.
  11. You're assuming we won't improve. In our really good years over the past two and half decades we've had barnstorming finishes to the season. Get a fit and firing Davey back into our team and we're a Jack Grimes away from being at full strength.
  12. Nothing like a thread focused on our biggest disappointments throughout the year to whip everyone into a frenzy of positivity in the hours leading up to a game. Wow.
  13. I was going to go with the Mark Jackson paternity test coming in negative.
  14. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/117979/default.aspx That's special. We'll smash the 40,000 mark next year with Scully front and centre of our membership campaign!
  15. Little Creatures all the way for me and I'm proud to say I was the only Queenslander (after 22 years I'm now comfortable saying that) not to watch the origin decider on Wednesday night! I'm a bit disappointed you didn't throw our lack of daylight savings in my face. I have no response to that!
  16. You gonna eat those ribs? Scully's staying btw.
  17. I had to take out my internal stairs to give me more living space upstairs and I'm using the stairs as my downstairs bar. See if you can find an 'L' shaped already removed timber staircase and chuck it on a base of brinks and you've got yourself an instant bar! I'm having a crack at a pizza oven now. In Queensland we can eat outside during winter.
  18. I'd always choose the player that brings us closer to a premiership. Good thing we won't have to choose.
  19. Sylvia is clearly holding the club to ransom. It's definitely ultimatum time. One single player isn't bigger than the club. Why haven't we heard from him about his commitment to the Dees long term? I don't think he even knows the words to our club song. Play him at Casey until he signs!
  20. We gave up.
  21. I think we got as much out of that 1 minute segment as we could have hoped for. Great to see Healy give Sheahan a hard time over his persistent questioning of Tom's character and then it was pleasing to hear Mike ask the question we all wanted to hear. Finally, we couldn't expect Lynch to provide us with a more reassuring response than he gave.
  22. I've heard from very reliable sources that he's deciding between signing for us for either 5 years or 10 years! It's a big decision.
  23. I'm saying that at some point this morning, the boys asked Lynch if Scully was staying or going and he probably couldn't tell them but he did confirm that the club were keen for him to have a press conference so that all the nervous nellies (mainly contributors to this thread) are reassured. In classic Scully style he probably suggested that nothing had changed since last time he spoke to the press and that he didn't see the need to do it. I'm the aforemention 'nellies' will read something completely different into it!
  24. His mail? He's sitting next to Alistair Lynch, from Scully's management team, in the commentry booth.
  25. Thanks for stating clearly what I was hinting at earlier in the thread. At some point I suggested that the only thing that has changed since his press conference was the fact that he's played a game of footy. Now he's played two. Take away the Demonland hysteria and media speculation and he is in exactly the same contract position as Sylvia this year and Watts last year. I'm growing increasingly confident that he'll stay.
