I'm willing to accept Mod responsibilities if it means I'm allowed to ban people for comments like this. 18/11/2013 has clearly been identified by the football fraternity as a positive Dee Day. Get with the vibe dude.

Isaac Conway is probably a 50/50 chance of getting drafted on Thursday. If no one grabs him I'd like to see us rookie him.

That sums up my position pretty well BRFE. I'd love Scharenberg or Billings to slide but doubt that will happen. I've been on the Freeman bandwagon for some time but feel he's the kind of pick up that will go one of two ways. Either his pace and inside ball winning skills will translate to the AFL and he'll become a star or he'll be a bust. Can't see him playing 100 - 150 solid games. Acres was my pick for the MFC competition. Not quite sure why but he's had me interested for quite some time. Tall, versatile and skilled. Good combination. Anyway, I've actually committed to going to the draft so I get to tick another thing off my nerdy footy experience bucket list!

I think they might be keen on the other highly rated Croweater.

I think the OP might have been overdosing on the film Zulu.

Thread's dead.

If this was the 90's I'd be making 'Friends' and Joey references.

Name the top 8 players for us to make the finals
Goodvibes replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
How is that you posted this hours ago and BH hasn't yet told you about the importance of the top 6? And I hope he does because it's a theory I support. Depth is obviously important but we need 3 or 4 players to elevate themselves into the elite category. At the moment Jones is close and Frawley qualifies when at his best and Garland went close this year. Clark was in the class but for only briefly due to injury. If these four players are all fit and in form we're on our way. We then need two midfielders to emerge into that category to make us a serious footy team. Obviously Viney and Tyson are best placed to be those players. I've never been more confident that a player yet to play will enter the elite category as I am with Hogan. Toumpas, Watts and pick 9 still give us hope and I'm stubborn in my support of Max Gawn. I can't wait to see what he's capable of if the injury Gods give him a consistent crack at it over the next three seasons. If Frawley, Clark, Hogan, Jones, Viney and Tyson have All Australian years over the next three or four seasons we could become a contender. It's a good spread of talent across the field. The obvious benefits of having an elite top 6 is the pressure it takes of the next tier. Players like Watts, Howe and Blease suddenly become the cream and appear better than they otherwise would. Anyway, I'll let BH take it from here . . . -
Chris Cain at 40. Interesting.
-
That may well be the tallest forwardline to ever play AFL. And I'm not necessarily suggesting that means it's a bust. Clark, Watts and Hogan all have great below the knees games for talls and Fitzpatrick is certainly quick and athletic. I'd like to see that forward 6 take the field purely in the spirit of experimentation and entertainment.

In the world where Sylvia is one pre-season away from a brownlow and he's still going to turn out like Mark Ricciuto.
-
If you're going to pull stuff out of your arse then I figure you might as well make it worth your while. Billings would be fun to watch from the get go. He'd immediately add some silk around Clark, Hogan, Dawes in the forward 50 and we could then watch him blossom into an elite mid.

Here's my predicted top 10. My thinking is at some point over the next 10 or 20 years if I keep guessing at this kind of stuff I'll eventually get one right. When that happens I intend on offering this as proof of my incredible knowledge of underage footballers and the inner workings of all 18 AFL clubs. 1. Boyd 2. Bontempelli 3. Kelly 4. Aish 5. Kolodjashnij 6. Freeman 7. Scharenberg 8. McDonald 9. Billings Cheers

Yep, if it wasn't for those injuries . . . .

It'd be even funnier if he slides to 9 and we don't pick him.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS
Goodvibes replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
If Buddy can play until he's 35 then I think Cross might last until he's 38. Super fit individual. We should have offered a 7 year deal! -
Last time we played Brisbane they beat us up in Darwin pretty comfortably. Only Docherty and Yeo played that day. Longer, Karnezis, Polec and Black were all in the stands that day.

There's an entire chapter's worth of material there for 'Drafting for Dummies'.

I'm not sure it's fatigue. It's more like the letdown after the high of the last week. Michie was the fix we needed to settle our nerves and Tyson put us all on a high. Vince added and we were close to overdosing and the unexpected early comittment of Cross was clearly more than most of us could handle. Please note the above analogy got a little out of control and was merely referencing candy stores and sugar hits not any illegal substances. Thanks.

Watch some of Mitch Clark's goal kicking attempts from his early Brisbane days. His accuracy for us thus far has been a revelation.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS

I'm worried. Tyson isn't smiling. -
Ummmm, that's not allowed.

Easy turbo, just reading into some of Mahoney's comments. He talked about Cross in the same breath as the notion of Net Gain. They may simply see Vince as a replacement for Sylvia and still need another experienced body in the midfield (like Cross) or they may feel we've done ok with the three mids we've already gained. I'd actually take Cross and Weller and delist Nicho or Jetta.
-
The Maverick Weller talk has gone quiet. Any chance we might think Cross is no longer needed with the experience of Vince coming on board and we might offer Weller a lifeline?
-
I've been on the bandwagon for awhile. I can't see him lasting until 9. Really hope I'm wrong and if I am I really hope we pull the trigger.
