  1. One of only 2 or 3 players to give a yelp in the first half. At least tried to get the ball moving by foot when others were intent on handpassing despite the conditions and the problems we were getting into.
  2. On Triple M after the match Danny Frawley asked Moloney about our forward set up and why we didn't seem to have targets forward of the centre, whether that was intentional or not. Moloney said they were pushing up the ground to help out in stoppages, but that made it difficult for the midfielders when the ball was won as, in his words, it's difficult when you don't have someone presenting towards you. He said we'd be looking at that through the week. That tells me it wasn't an instruction, or that Moloney and/or other midfielders don't understand the idea of kicking into the space. Either way it told me the 'game plan' is far from functional. Whether or not it is what Bailey wants in the coming years, we play better when we don't have our forwards pushing up the ground. Having players like Green, Bate and Watts deeper and leading towards the ball carrier, not away from them, is what gets us goals.
  3. The umpires just got way too involved in the game. I'm sick of umpires paying marginal free kicks, whether they help us or hinder us. Like the holding the man on Thornton in the second quarter. He had a fistful of Rivers' jumper as well. And yes, there are problems with holding the ball the way it is being implemented.
  4. 6 - Jamar (absolutely gave Kreuzer a lesson in the ruck) 5 - Morton 4 - Grimes 3 - McDonald 2 - Davey 1 - Jones Gysberts Edit: How could I forget Gysberts...gun.
  5. Conditions didn't suit. Delivery was abysmal. But the weather and the disposal don't dicate second efforts, intensity and hunger, none of which were apparent. He needs to work on those. No alarm bells yet, but I wasn't happy with what he did when the ball hit the ground.
  6. The midfield will be a great battle I reckon. Judd-Murphy-Gibbs-Simpson-Scotland vs Moloney-McDonald-Scully-Trengove-Gysberts. And Jamar vs Kreuzer should be epic. Probably 2 of the top 5 ruckmen in the comp.
  7. I didn't think Warnock was that bad in the North and West Coast games, and let's not forget how bad our midfield was in those games (especially the West Coast game) which makes defending even harder. My argument revolves around Warnock being dropped whilst Rivers stays in the team: I would prefer it to be the other way around. But I do agree about the whole 'over-reacting to players being dropped' thing.
  8. I can think of one bad game - last week. And even then, Podsiadly could do no wrong. He kicked a goal from 50 metres out on the wrong side for a leftie after Warnock had done the right thing and corralled him to the boundary line. Rivers will have to play on O'hailpin or Waite this week, given the defence we've picked, so he won't be getting a lot of opportunities to float or zone off. That's the only thing Rivers can do better than Warnock, so I can't really see how we're going to benefit from Rivers' 'other strings'. That's why I think Warnock should be playing instead.
  9. Agree. He's pushed Warnock out of the team. He's going to have to give a heck of a lot more than what he's been giving to make that a good move.
  10. How is Garland a saving grace for Rivers? As it stands Warnock has been ommitted whilst Rivers holds his spot. That is not really a good or fair decision. We don't need to bring Garland or Cheney into it. The FD dropped a KPD to give us more room, it should have been Rivers. But it wasn't. If Garland's a late withdrawal I would think Cheney would get the call up. Frawley, Rivers and Bruce should be able to deal with any height they throw forward.
  11. Yeah that's true. When I said 'free' I wasn't thinking about the player he'd knock off the list. But clearly we'd never go down that route.
  12. Damn it. Really wanted McLean to be out there. That sucks.
  13. Wow. Did not expect Warnock to get the chop. Especially given Rivers holds his spot (ridiculous really). Wonna unlucky. Thought he was tackling and applying good pressure in the forward line. MacDonald was to be expected. The ins are good, Scully Trengove and Bate all make us better and we're better adapted to Carlton. I just wish it was Rivers out instead of Warnock.
  14. For free only. Not even pick 100. Well, maybe pick 100, but not a pick we would otherwise use at the draft. Let's remember: if he can't get a game for Richmond how well is he actually going?
  15. That'd be a surprise. But you are the one and only poster on this website I can trust with info like this. Must be sore. Bails has been giving us the inside word on selections for the past 4 or 5 weeks or so. He gets it right every time. So I'd listen to what he says. Or read it. Whatever.
  16. I didn't think she'd be able to beat Serena. Now I have confidence. I mean, Jankovic should be relatively easy compared to Serena and Henin. Wow. Who knows, maybe she might go all the way...
  17. Oh please. This thread is refering to on-field likenesses. In that regard I have no problem likening Scully and Trengove to Judd or Cousins. I'm sure they'd enjoy hearing those comparisons too.
  18. Pfft. I still think the Darwin match should be played before the mid-season break, but we asked for it, we pocket the money, we can deal with only getting 7 days compared to a possible 8.
  19. And there's even more pressure on these two to succeed at AFL level. Players who, admittedly, do it tougher coming through the draft, have little to no pressure unless they're a top draft pick. These two are going to be scrutinised so heavily, and they'll be expected to lead their teams from the get go. Another reason why the salary they're getting isn't as bad as some make it out to be.
  20. Haha, yes I do like that finals in 2000-2006 stat, don't I?
  21. And Federer's lost in the Quarter-finals, which is the first time he hasn't made it to the semi-finals or beyond since 2004. 23 consecutive grand slams he'd made it to the semis. But Soderling got him in 4 sets.
  22. Here's another stat: Number of finals appearances 2000-2006: We are 1st (equal with Essendon and Sydney) on 4 out of 6. Richmond and Fremantle are last with 1. Stats can be used however you want.
  23. Mark Robinson is, without a doubt, the worst journalist there has ever been. He is pathetic.
  24. Should have been Rockliff. I saw that game, he did really well. Mind you, it's not like Martin's a dud player either. He's top 10 in the competition for clearances apparently. 11 on the weekend in the slop against a half-decent midfield (Cornes, Rodan, Boak, Salopek, Cassisi), I reckon that's a fair effort. Gysberts' time will come. As will Watts' and McKenzie's. And maybe Strauss'. And Blease's. Cheney's. McNamara's. Nothing to worry about.
  25. Looks like Strauss and Cheney are in contention to get a call up this week. Rivers and MacDonald would be the candidates to make way.
