  1. Because, like Bugg, he played for GWS. It's a long bow to draw though.
  2. For those that can't get past the paywall: The article just said that Hogan's decision will come down more to prospects than money. Clark then mentioned Hogan is very happy in Melbourne, he gets along really well with Goodwin and we have plenty of top end talent coming through that suggests we will not only have some sustained success, but that Hogan won't feel as though it will all rest on him. It's nothing we haven't really heard before, but it had a more positive spin than other articles have had since he put off contract talks.
  3. From what I can tell he's basing the article on Karl Langdon. I wouldn't worry too much.
  4. I agree in terms of his accuracy, but I think his run up does hinder his ability to kick the 'long ball' so to speak. Anything above 45 metres seems to trouble him a little and I think this is down to his run up during set shots. He isn't a naturally long kick of the football and a stuttering run up doesn't give him the momentum to kick it long distances. His actual accuracy at goal is a myth, too - as you rightly point out he is a pretty good kick for goal, it was just one game where he fluffed a few that drew all the attention. It was unwarranted.
  5. I won't get into a debate about what GNF has gotten right or what he's missed, but if the first part of his info turns out to be correct then he's alright by me.
  6. Not a bad suggestion there deeflog. He is certainly on the outside looking in right now at Norf. He has good attributes and is able to play on the really big forwards too.
  7. Couldn't agree more. We've been waiting for a guy like Hogan since the day Neitz retired, and when we have him, some will barely kick up a fuss if he leaves. Madness.
  8. Full credit to Roos for doing so as well. He's stuck to the plan regardless of results or what has happened off field, and we can see the benefits of that beginning to come to fruition. I'm excited that the players consistently speak so highly of Goodwin as well. It seems that when he takes the reins at the end of the year it will be done in such a smooth and easy manner that there won't be any teething problems.
  9. I wasn't. I was merely making the point that some thought he would kick a bag, win the rising star etc. He kicked a couple and did little else. Now we worry about Stringer... and so on... McDonald may well get Stringer, but Garland is capable as well. He has the pace and the ability one on one to go with him. As I said earlier, my fingers are crossed that he can do the job I think he is capable of doing.
  10. Don't see the love for Nathan Brown. He just got dropped from a side that can't win a game of footy. Doesn't fill me with confidence, nor does he really look like an upgrade on Dunn or Garland. Hurley is the obvious choice, but whether we can convince him to come over and play for us is another thing.
  11. Some thought 'Two Metre Peter' would do that last week. Have some faith my friend.
  12. Bit stiff. Feels like you've been gone a while though, must have been a large ban. Agree that we are looking better, but we still need that consistency. Sunday will most certainly be a pearler. And I'll still back Garlo, although what could I say after he had been dropped? Thought he did okay on the weekend outside of his diabolical hand pass. Will be probably our best match up for Stringer on the weekend, so fingers crossed he plays well.
  13. I was about to say that Goldstein would be about that height, then looked it up - he is 201cm. I feel like he is taller than that. I don't have a point by the way, just surprised at Goldstein's height. And I agree with the last part. Gawn will get his hands on it and it's up to the midfield to do the rest.
  14. Even worse are the idiot Norf fans who are up and about because of it. Makes you feel sick.
  15. Not totally sure of the scores, but we lead by 81 points. Northern Blues have only kicked 1 goal for the day. Edit - Dawes kicks his second, it's 15-9-99 to 1-6-12.
  16. The Dees can't win - had we rolled over and been beaten, people would been angry that we couldn't put a side away that had only 2 rotations on the bench. Then, when we actually do it, and do it well, we need to be reminded that the only reason we did it was because of injuries, which gives little credit to the performance. Some are never happy. I don't see why it needs to be put into perspective, either. No one here is claiming dynasties, premierships and the like after the win. Everyone is simply enjoying something so rare - a huge win, and a win where we kicked 24 goals. So enjoy it, Steve. I know you like analysing the negatives, and it's hard for you to enjoy a win, but maybe you should try it sometime. You might even find that you like it.
  17. He needs to be played there, but he isn't. So we have to deal with it. Garland played Wright well last night (outside of his horrid handpass) and wasn't beaten by him in a one on one contest. There is no reason to think he can't do the same this week as well.
  18. Good to see Jake Lovett get 27 possies in the wet today. The conditions would have suited his style of play, but hopefully with some form he can sneak his way back into the senior team.
  19. You're putting Redpath in the same sentence as Lynch, then? And by the way, what is your solution to Redpath if Garland isn't it?
  20. Just like Garland against Wright was giving you nightmares last week...?
  21. The big fell barely got near it. Thought Garland, and to an extend McDonald on Lynch, did a pretty good job on their tall forwards last night.
  22. It's interesting some bring up the fact that the Dogs get a good run from the umpires - they are currently first in frees for, but we are third as well. I think the good run from the umps, for us, has slipped under the radar a touch.
