MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 7
Wiseblood replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's a fair point - I wonder if they'll send Bugg to him to kick off the game? A few hard, fair tackles to kick off the game on Ablett wouldn't go astray. -

Just checked the forecast - cloudy and 26 for our game. Maybe the poster who brought it up got confused with how the weather will be here on Sunday... ? -

Concussed. Try again. Radar might have been the wrong word, but he still misses out, so clearly they have him behind a number of players even though he has been in terrific form. -

So, no one has any faith in the team at all? Anyone? ANYONE? -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 7

To be fair, Peter Wright barely got near it last week and I don't believe Geelong has a backman who is comparable in height to him. We just need to make sure we get our defensive positioning right and our mids work hard to put pressure on the ball when it's going forward. -

I don't think that happens. With Thompson and May not playing they need some height down back, and Day has been playing down there. I reckon he goes to Hogan. Peter Wright does worry me slightly, but they like playing guys like Garland on players who are much taller than him. Happens every week. Very curious to see how the defence responds to last week. -

He wasn't dropped, he has concussion. -

It's certainly interesting re: ANB. Clearly we have gone for a little outside run in terms of bringing Stretch in, while Oliver is ahead of ANB. Michie is a replacement for Salem, and Garland is in for Dunn. I know some will question why ANB wasn't selected but it doesn't matter. -

In: Oliver, Garland, Stretch, Michie. Out: Dunn, Frost (both omit), Lumumba, Salem (both concussion) Obviously we are going for a little more run and spread as we have dropped two key talls and only brought in one to replace them. Clearly ANB not on the radar at the minute. -
Is Tom McDonald tradable at the end of 2016?
Wiseblood replied to Adam The God's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fair point, although his turnovers seem worse than most as he makes them in the defensive part of the ground. When he gets it in our back fifty, centres it and turns it over, it looks horrible and sticks out like a sore thumb. If you kick inside 50 and miss the target it doesn't look nearly as bad and, most of the time, doesn't instantly result in a goal for the opposition. On that note I wouldn't consider trading TMac. Key position players in the back half of the ground with good one on one skills, elite endurance and good hands don't just grow on trees.- 176 replies

I think it was, and he triggered that extension with the games he played, but the club decided to negotiate a new deal anyway that went to 2019 and paid more money. As you would probably agree I think he has earned that new deal.
-
And he gets away with it because of his training reports, which for the most part are largely worthless. The above, as you mentioned, just goes to show his true colors and his 'worth' to this forum as a whole.

I think the club might slowly be realising that, if we are playing Watts as a third tall, we only need one more of Frost/Pedersen in the side. We can't carry both, otherwise it's easier for teams to run us off our feet when they take the ball off half back and through the middle of the ground. We need at least one extra runner.

Yeah, I should have known...

Who was the Einstein who called him the next Toumpas? I've seen plenty of ridiculous claims on this site, but sheesh, that one would go close to beating them all. Demonland at it's finest.

Their own footy manager stuck the boots into the club. They didn't need opposition fans or the media to do that.. Regardless of the above his admission is quite shocking and will no doubt anger many of their fans.

Players who always fire a shot against Melbourne
Wiseblood replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
They fire shots against everyone. You could hardly say they save those games for us. This is more like it. Bloke couldn't get near it... until we went down to the Cattery and he kicked 6. -
Were we sucked in, or are we just seeing what happens when you play kids? Wagner and Hunt played well for a few weeks and, as many kids do, had an average game. It was unfortunate that it had to be on the same day, but that's life. Garland and/or Grimes will probably come back in and I'm not against that at all. My point is more that it won't matter who we have playing down there unless we get those structures, and the balance (I feel like I use that word a lot), right. I have total faith it will work in time though, we just need to be a little patient and take the great with the good and the bad.

Making those changes isn't the solution at all. The solution is to get the defence in sync with the midfield and forwards. Once we do that on a consistent basis then we'll find that we can defend well while still kicking a winning score. It doesn't happen overnight, though.

I see it swapping entirely. Norf, Whorethorn and West Coke won't even make the finals.
-
It's all part of the transition. Would you rather us go back to 2014/2015 where the defence is sound but the offence is distinctly average? Getting the balance right between both will take a little time, and as we ramp up the offence it will take us a while to make sure we integrate that well with our defence as well. Some on here are far too short sighted for their own good.

Collingwood playing a Melbourne type game in the west today. No goal in the first quarter is vintage Demons.

Surely you guys should know better - if it's never happened to Saty then it can't possibly happen to anyone else. Don't try and make valid points as it's like water off a ducks back.
