I thought Strauss, Maric and Gysberts were all good. Id go as far as to say Strauss and Maric will play round 1. Just my opinion.

Just got back from Adelaide. Decided at the last min to drive up on Friday arvo. I stayed In Horsham Friday night and left for Elizabeth Sat morning. Things I took out of the game were.. Our young guys have a lot of heart. Special mentions to Jordie Mckenzie, James Strauss and Tommy Mac and Gysberts, when the game went up a notch these guys went with it. Mckenzie was an animal at times with his clearance work and Im now clear on why Adelaide chased him so hard. Grimes, Trengove and Scully will form one of the best midfields we've ever had. All three of them are going to be out and out guns. Grimes works his arse off and the other two just glide around the ground racking up touches. Was good to see Trenners not backing down from the rough stuff, was more than happy to go on with it a couple of times. Elizabeth has 10 time the amount of bogans than Dandenong but Is 5 times smaller. I walked out of the ground disappointed as by the end the locals were giving it to me and I really wanted the win to shove it up them but It wasn't to be and a copped a verbal barrage as I left. Luckily my car was still in one piece as Ive heard they enjoy a Victorian number plate. Anyway I'm glad to be home and now It's all said and done I'm fairly proud of our effort considering the players we had out and how young our team was. I'm not very good with match reports so If anybody wants to know anymore Ill do my best to answer any questions.

Cant see Grimes getting In two bar room brawls and doing burnouts In a car park either. I always like Mclean, dont get me wrong but he's a blokes bloke and a bit of a clown. He and Grimes are completely different types of people.
-
Brock didn't captain the state side or his club side. Grimes Is clean cut and his work rate Is second to none. I'm not saying he will be our next captain as I think he's a bit young yet but I think he Is as good a chance If not better than Scully, Trengove, or Watts. If they give It to Davey or Moloney you'd think they'll be captain for around four years? Grimes would be 24 by then and entering his prime, perfect age to captain the club he grew up supporting.

I saw him doing sprints with the rehab group last week, obviously has had a niggle and getting over it. On a brighter note I went down to the junction today and saw Watts doing full on sprints for about a half hour. He ran himself into the ground. He also did a little bit of kicking and marking on the lead. He looked fine to me and wouldn't be surprised If he played Nab 4. The mids were out doing some drills, missing was Sylvia and Moloney and obviosly Morton.

Seeing Jim at the intra club and the AGM and doing the press conference yesterday, now this.. I think It's amazing how he continues to put himself out there even though he's clearly struggling.

27 now and afternoon showers. Not so bad.

I droped into the Junction oval today. Blease, Bate, Bruce were all doing sprints. Bruce looked to be going half pace but the other two were going full tilt with no problems. Maxy Gawn and Pj were running laps. I also caught the backs doing some drills with Frawley and Joel Mac both very vocal. I'll try to keep you guys updated a bit more as I drop In every time I see them out on the track. For those interested they start at 8am Mon, Tue, Thur. These times may change once the season starts.

Our forward line Is crap! We dont have one key forward.. We have some medium to small forwards that are good players but you need at least one preferably two quality big blokes that can crash a pack and take a big grab. Guys like Jurrah and Bate should be playing as the third tall allowing us to stretch the oppositions defence. We had four picks inside the top twenty last draft and couldn't manage one big bloke? Id say we'll have a top ten pick In the next draft, If we dont draft a key forward this time round we have rocks in our head.

When Is the team named?
-
Youd excpect Bruce, Bate and Wona to be fit for round 1, Garland and Watts wouldnt to far behind. Hopefully we dont pick up to many more during the pre season games.
-
I thought we were pushing for a NAB Cup game at Casey this year? I realise we have NAB Challenge games at Casey but I distinctly remember Schwaby talking about a NAB Cup game.. Obviously didn't get our wish!
-
I can see what your saying but I just cant see warnock getting left out. Id play Warnock on Roughie and Rivers on Dowler. Frawley to play smaller which he has In the past. Interesting to see If Garland Is fit enough for round 1.
-
Finally my boys ready to go. Cant wait to see him floating across the pack at the last second to take the grab or running back with the flight. Has a great knack of knowing when to leave his man and go for the spoil or mark.
-
He was dropped for a while last year wasn't he? I remember watching him for Casey later In the year. Anyway I think he's held In high regard at the club, wont take long before he's a regular.
-
Although Garland Is KP height he's quick and agile. He can play both tall and small. I think i recall him playing on Leon Davis then a few games later was playing on Buddy Franklin (was nominated for the rising star that game). Can also play forward as well as back. I wouldn't say he's a rebounding defender but he makes good decisions and Is mostly clean by hand and foot. I hope that helps you out. About Bennell, I think he'll cement a spot If not this year then next. The kid can flat out play!
-
Thanks mate, They must have pulled up ok from the weekend. I cant see how they could leave out Trengove for the weekend.
-
Scully, Trengove and Gysberts train?
-
Just about a walk up start when fit I'd say. Problem Is who do we leave out? I'd like to see.. Bennell Warnock Rivers Mcdonald Frawley Garland We really have some depth to our backline now. Martin and Cheeney, Grimes, Bruce, Tommy Mac can all go through the backline.
-
Bate will be fit and firing for round one as will Jamar. Still six weeks til round one..
-
I'd love to see Obama wearing a Dees jumper!
-
He did play. He didn't really do a lot. Looks classy when he has It but needs to get himself involved more
-
So Is Watts playing or not? Number 4 Is being worn by a Casey player.
-
From memory Tappscott was almost a lock for top 10 pick earlier last year. I wonder why he slid to 18?? How's he been going anyway? He always seems to be on the sidelines throwing a tennis ball around at training.
-
Are you sure about that? I get to the junction oval at least twice a week and every time ive seen the forwards on the track Hughes has been there. I havent noticed him training with the backs at all.
