Ben Johnson case to test the AFL's judicial system
QueenC replied to Rolling Stone's topic in Melbourne Demons
In all the camera angels and replays there is not one of them that showed that he had his eyes on the ball. He seemed to intentionally go straight at the player with his head down. There was no attempt made to play the ball or to manoeuvre himself to the side as to make less dangerous contact. -
Boy Gouga that is very gutsy ........

Ben Johnson case to test the AFL's judicial system

He was up before the panel only last week, so he would definitely have points already hanging over his head...... That aside it should be a minimum of six weeks even before you factor that in. This is exactly the type of awful on-field action that the AFL have been so public in trying to stamp out. I guess we will finally (and unfortunately) get to see what they are actually made of in this regard. And I hope that the panel prove my opinion of them wrong, and we don't see this dirty snot until well into next year. -
I know that isn't really funny or at all funny...... But it did make me giggle, and on a very sore night that is appreciated !!!

Cheers FitZ and Jaded........ And thank the heavens for that. Yep, definitely scary stuff.

We don't get any news up here, so I was wondering if there was any news on Daniel?

Well, half of tonight was almost fantastic (awful injuries aside) and was definitely courageous........ The other half however left a hell of a lot to be desired.

Congratulations to Mark...... Hopefully he will play a great game to remember :D !!!

This week it is wonderful to be able to celebrate the achievement for one of the most inspiring leaders and beloved players at our club. In this 300 game milestone we are able to sit back and reflect on the wonderful career of a wonderful and loyal player. A player that is held in the highest possible esteem by all who support, and play for, this historic club. So congratulations to Neita for being the first Demon to reach the mark, and on 300 magnificent and inspirational games. You are nothing short of a legend to all at the MFC, and the AFL world at large :D !!!

Really well said Belzebub, I couldn't agree more....... There is absolutely no hiding from the importance Neale Daniher would have had on David in his ten years at the helm and despite everything that has happened so far this year that connection should never be diminished or discounted in the development of Neitz as a player, and probably as a person as well. As has been said before in this thread it is fantastic to see Neale address the players regarding this massive personal milestone this afternoon and it is a credit to him to actually come back to talk to them. He again shows his class and character as an individual, much as he did when he was shown the door earlier in the year. Hopefully the message will not be lost on the rest of the team, and a big victory in an important game is on the way :D !!!

You've certainly got that crystal ball working for you this week YM !!!

Cheers barpen....... That team looks pretty good from here !!!

I agree with you DD....... This season could look a bit like road kill, such is going to be the carnage of greats lined up at the end !!!
-
You would have to think that the fine he got would have had a stupidity figure factored in !!!

I just watched the press conference and he handled it with respect and dignity...... He was tough and intimidating, and it is a pity when any player is taken out through injury, but at 32 years of age, after playing 300+ games, having won a Brownlow, not to mention winning a couple of Premierships, he should be counted as one of the games greats not just one of Adelaide's greats. I congratulate him on his career and wish him all the best for his future :D !!!

Another great post from Rogue...... I am glad that multiple threads will no longer have a tendency to descend into chaos !!! But, for what it's worth, I have to say that after having a relatively mild disagreement a couple of days ago, bWell sent me a personal comment to apologise if their posts and opinions had been insulting. It obviously didn't change the continued public attitude, but it was nice to receive nonetheless.

Well, when they are stupid enough to open up and admit to lying, why wouldn't they !!!
-
Well said C84..... And my best wishes and sympathies also go out to the Malthouse family, in what is a terrible time for them.

Amen to that Bob !!!

Oh for heavens sake read the post...... I don't think he should be an automatic selection, but he should never be criticised for his work ethic attitude and dedication to the team, especially when some of our more decorated players have trouble getting out of bed in the morning. It is something that should be looked at and celebrated. But again, it should not automatically lead to selection, but this year it has because of injuries to other players. They are the facts. But as I have said, and you seem to have ignored, that is not the point. As I said it is up to the selection to committee to leave him out if they want to, and I would rather then not have to pick through the rubble of injury. And I simply find it reprehensible that any Melbourne supporter would wish, or celebrate, an injury of any kind one any of our players. It doesn't, or at least shouldn't, matter if he should or shouldn't be selected in the 22. And while I do realise that injury is the unfortunate downside of footy, I simply don't want any of our boys struck down. And Godfrey (or any of the other less cherished players) is definitely included. And I would have hoped that fairly human sentiment was universal.
-
Not his skill, but I do rate his ethic....... and the very basic fact that he is still a member of our list and for that, and the fact he is still a person, I don't want him hurt But that is not the point, no-one here should ever want, or celebrate when, a player to be taken down by injury, no matter who that player is. And if you do, then that is just an appalling attitude to have. Besides it is up to the selection committee to not select him, not for you to cheer if he gets hurt.

Sorry but thats not just mean thats absolutely appalling
