Which we have done in the past as well.....

I agree, lets not get completely lost in the snot throwing and name calling shall we !!!

Yes there are, and I have to say that while I am trying not to, this thread offends me........ I understand the never wanting to change the jumper, that it should be sacrosanct, but please, please to those that argue otherwise, it is only a jumper. And while it is important to all of us please remember when you throw stones at the club for doing what they are doing, there are those that are fighting for their lives, and if my beloved football club is willing to do this to try and help the thousands of out there, then you'd think we could support them. Plus this doesn't demean the jumper, but can, and hopefully will enhance the club.

How many times another player(s) turns the ball over is irrelevant to this argument..... Here there are those that think Bruce is indisputably perfect and those that think that he is a shot duck. The reality is somewhere in the middle. Now I have never been one to criticise (or abuse) our players, so before all those who blindly defend Bruce jump all over me, understand that he still has some value, but it is decreasing, and it is happening quicker because of the wonderful crop of kids we have coming through. This is not a bad thing, in fact we should be happy about it. His disposal by hand and foot has been a problem for some time, and it is not getting any better, and won't probably at this stage of his career (which no-one is degrading). So with that in mind do we keep playing him without question until he decides otherwise, or put another youngster into the mix to smell the big leagues? I don't know the answer to that, but it is a question that is going to keep coming up as the season moves on. As it should, there should be no "automatic" selections, you should have to earn your place. As far as today's performance is concerned, I didn't think it wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't awe inspiringly brilliant, like some seem to have wanted, either. He got a lot of the ball, missed a few important targets, put some team mates under unnecessary pressure, and seemed to work his arse off, as per normal. Today's game was normal, solid but not great, with in my opinion, a few too many errors for a guy of his stature, and that is going to be an ongoing issue. And please can people stop stating their opinions of a player as fact. Others are allowed to disagree and to say so without being berated for it.

I disappear for a couple of days and the place goes a little nutty...... I love the blind optimism but reality has to be factored in here somewhere !!!
-
Hopefully some more good, or at least better news is still to come..... Dan summed it up well, you are in our thoughts and have all our best wishes!!!
-
You could be sad or you could try excited? I know that is a little rosy, but these kids are our future and we should be pretty buoyant about that B) !!!
-
If one party chooses not to proceed, that would be very pointy (among other things)..... All I am saying if lets not jump the gun!!!
-
Congratulations to Brad Green..... Has been wrongly undervalued during his career, and I hope he goes out yet again and shows what a courageous and genuine champion he is. He is a wonderful asset to and for this club, on and off the field, and it will be an honour to cheer him on in his 200th!!!

What or who is a complete mystery, and jumping to conclusions about something we don't yet know about is a little pointless.....

Paul Roos is out of a job at the end of the season !!! I don't mean to sound naive here but I am so...... A number of people here have asked why the club would go back on the apparent deal. Well we don't actually know it is the club automatically, maybe Bailey has an issue that needs resolving before he signs the contract. I don't know, but there has also been mention of the fact that we "signed" him up just to avoid some poor publicity in regards to the will he won't he merry go round that happens if an unsuccessful coach is out of contract. Well I hope that is not true because that is not a good enough reason to offer an extension.

And the very simple reality is that Miller does not measure up..... This argument is not that complicated, he is what we have, for better or worse right now, and generally is a very hard working, honest albeit less skilled footballer who unfortunately will never win you a game off his own boot. He is not that guy, he has never been that guy and he will be that guy. That is his and our reality right now. His work ethic and determination is excellent for the kids to learn from and for that reason he is useful. But in the end he will be surpassed by those kids when then are ready to do so. However until that point in our future he (and Newton) is what we have. But lets not pretend that he has not been scapegoated, abused and maligned on here for years. He is not the best, so lets not expect him to be it. Lets hope that if (when) he gets back in he does his best and keeps the seat warm for some of our kiddies who will take over when they are ready. That is his role, work hard, try hard and lose his place when Watts can actually take over (and I don't mean necessarily this season either, Jack will need some protection out there, and Miller again is what we have for that as well.) Hopefully last weeks performance will be his worst (and it was awful) but lets not get caught in that rut again by expecting Brad Miller to shape our future, he can't, he isn't skilled enough to do so. But he is what we have right now, and we have to just deal with that until it isn't the case any longer.

Informing his players may have helped !!!

Fair enough, but that "confidence" in their team mates is simply not there..... They don't appear to trust that someone will run for them, create space, and couple that with opposition pressure (which all are just going to have to learn to deal with) we get what we witnessed on Saturday. It hopefully will get better with time, but it is disheartening to watch.

And something you have been talking about since then...... But I agree with Titan Uranus, who said that this is a chicken and egg situation, as there are clearly severe problems with both elements. We have no dominant forwards (maybe one day, maybe soon, but not today), however we also fart arse about with the ball, and have a tendency to turn it over somewhere on the wing, this I fear would happen at least some, if not most of the time no matter who we had up there. A confident forward would be great and is totally a necessity, but so would some basic mid field skills to get it there.

Only 16? Bit generous there Billy?!!! Goal to Miller.....
-
You are unfortunately lining up for some horrible punishment....... I am never one to over criticise but this is embarrassing and they should be ashamed of their performance to date. I hope for better but I am not convinced it will ever truly happen. You can ignore that as it is misery and reality talking, sorry !!!

I think he answered all the critics and their vitriol......

An Open letter to the Coach, Players and Demonland.
QueenC replied to Robbie57's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wouldn't any victory at this point be pretty damn sweet ?!!! And welcome to Demonland Robbie, I love the passion and sentiment of your first post. I hope you enjoy your time here!!! -
I tend to agree here...... While she was, for want of a better word, exploited in regards to the publication of that photo, that is where any sympathy for her ends I am afraid. She loses all kinds of credibility and respectability IMO by selling her side of the story (whatever that is) back to the same rag that published the photo in the first place. And what story is there other than how I bedded an idiotic married footballer? I can't see how she or her publicity [censored] manager thinks that is going to get anyone onside or to make her look more credible. I mean she is either going to come across in any interview where Fevola is concerned as either a liar (which seems likely) or a complete ditz. And selling this side of that relationship, while apparently lucrative, is completely thoughtless and disrespectful to your current relationship. Now her family want to sell their souls and berate Clarke (for whatever reason) for a couple of pieces of silver as well? Oh yeah lets all stop and bow down to them all !!!
-
He'll cop plenty and take it on the chin, just like every other criticism he has to wear. The decision he made to come home was not popular and he would have known that, but I want fully committed and mentally fit Clarke playing for the team not one that is full of holes because of personal issues. And he is not the first to be granted time off to deal with this kind of stuff. And he won't be the last. I didn't like the fact he came home, but I understood it, and hopefully now he can get his mind back onto the game he loves. And hopefully he will be supported in doing that from the cheap seats......
