  1. Harvey, Voss or Pagan - top 3 for individual different reasons at the moments
  2. Have joined both recently and Demonology a bit more of a closed shop as it's been on longer but otherwise not much different.
  3. Sure wasn't invisible to me... What about Denis Pagan? Seems like Carlton want to get rid of him... Don't know if this is the answer but if Carlton shove him, he is a proven coach
  4. About the equal of another 18 Melbourne players on the ground (and I realise 1 other of those 18 must be on the bench)
  5. I am angry and upset and shocked at the disgraceful... Almost too angry for words. What tonight has shown is that the expression of support for the coach by the senior players means nothing. The test of all coaches, no matter what sport, is results. An 11 goal half time deficit against a team that is one draw and 10 losses from 11 games is atrocious. The performance tonight appears as if the players were unaware of the concept of tactics let alone had the chance to have these drilled into them for two weeks. The obvious options failed and there was no plan B. I like Neale Daniher but he is clearly not a coach to take Melbourne forward. The only question is who is? Interested to hear thoughts.
  6. Couldn't agree more regarding ND. Think you're being harsh regarding our senior player - at least Robbo and Yze seem to be having a go on the unbelievably rare rimes it gets in our forward 100. Not a typo, I don't think its been in our forward 50 more than half a dozen times tonight. To be fair, appear to be 18-19 passengers tonight. That said, when you're smashed by a team that has drawn one and lost 10 our of 11, you can't be playing well. Commentary team of Schwarz, Cometti and McAvaney bagging Melbourne. It hurts when I have to agree with them.
  7. Out of interest, what is our out of contract list at the end of this year?
  8. It's cold and windy here...but it's always cold and windy here  Doesn't really matter if it rains or not, MCG on a Friday night in late June is always going to be slippery unless the dew freezes before it hits the grass. Then it will be REALLY slippery.
  9. I meant ND's past track record, not an AFL or MFC rule. Should have made that clearer
  10. Normally, if say Sandilands is on the mark, the player taking the kick will just kick from a metre or two further out so its the same angle (I presume - not about to get the calculator out!) Maybe should have a player who's not that tall but with a huge vertical standing leap. That could surprise the person kicking it.
  11. No Whelan or (our) N Brown. Belly would just about have to get Nathan Brown wouldn't he. The idea of Ward on Brown (even half fit) just scares me.
  12. Reminds me of when Jim Stynes was on his record games run and they did the resurrection of Jimmy on the Footy Show. How can you possibly recover from surgery on a broken finger in 8-10 days? Dead Sea level of salt for mine.
  13. Pickett is never going to test Cam Bruce in an endurance race but he adds hardness and skill to a side that can lack that and has lacked that this year. If he's not blowing hard at 3/4 time, I expect he would have been criticised for not putting in the required effort. By all accounts, he has been exemplary since his suspension so I'm not about to have a go at him for that. I thought he was very good for most of last year and pitiful in the first 8-9 weeks this year so I'm glad at the apparent change of attitude. Now that he has been selected, we'll see how the skin folds translate into fitness/form...
  14. On past ND form, Newton won't play. 1st gamers have to be named in the 18 don't they? Expect Yze to come in for Neitz. Good to see Newton has at least been named as an emergency - probably a reward for pretty good form at VFL level and to show he's not been forgotten. Either that or ND is half-pandering to Demonland
  15. Hmmm... Fair call. Will probably be either Holland or Frawley as our defence may be too top heavy v Richmond. Can't see there being more than 3 changes to a winning side though (2 forced, 1 tactical)
  16. If Whelan comes in, nearly certain that one of Frawley, Pettard or Holland will be dropped.
  17. Just saw Daniher on Channel 10 news. Sounds like the most likely change to the forward line will be Yze in for Neitz and Robbo at Full Forward.
  18. Great article. Funny how this thread has turned though isn't it...
  19. Pretty sure that's meant to be Richmond supporters not players. Funniest thing I've read all morning though...
  20. Seems logical. Possibly also Whelan for Frawley - firstly for Whelan to get back in and secondly for Frawley to play at CHB or FB for a full game at Sandringham.
  21. Don't know about Bate being classified as a small forward. 192 cm (6' 3-4") and 90kg seems like a pretty good size for a 20 year old... Friday night game - every chance for Robbo to go to FF with Yze in a pocket (if fit). Would like to see Newton play though.
  22. I would be shocked if Pickett wasn't in the team this week. He's done his suspension, apparently dropped a fair bit of weight and Neitz is out so I think Daniher will want another "hard" player in the team. When he is fit, he clearly adds another dimension to this team so hopefully he will have a good second half of the year and show he's worth a punt (at significantly less money) for another year.
  23. Wouldn't surprise me. First year players (and second year ones too for that matter) rarely play the full 22 game home & away season in the AFL. Bartram did last year but that was one out of the box and really surprised everyone. I would not expect him to play the all of the rest of the season in the firsts.
