These are not good comparisons, sure Franklin and Jon Brown at times go further up the ground, however they also have Roughead and Bradshaw respectively who are more than capable up kicking big bags in their own right. We currently have no one near the ability of those two guys. Riewoldt is in the same boat, but once again the Saints have Kosi as well. Pavlich is forced to play up the ground because Freo have been absolutely shiite and it's more of a move made out of desperation rather than anything else.

argh! My eyes!! Woudl love to see Jurrah get a taste for AFl sometime this year, will happen no doubt (barring injuries). I also thought that Strauss showed glimpses of what he could potentially become.
-
lol, thanks Daemn, I wish I could claim that I created it but I don't have that much time on my hands
-
I agree with Doggo, for too top heavy and unless any of Miller, Martin or Bate improve drastically then they'll just be depth players in the future. This will also be compounded if we get Butcher at the end of the year Also, why would you want your (potentially) two best forwards in terms of goal kicking ability pushing up to the wing away from the goals?
-
In a game that vm controlled for the whole match Scully was played in the forwardline, clearly they wanted to give him a bit of a rest in what will be a long season for the kid
-
There are signs this year that he is turning the corner, let's hope that he continues to improve. The article, while reavealing the truth is probably not greatly surprising to alot of people, sylvia's ratbag reputation is pretty well known.
-
Miller is a special case through, the question will always be 'Can we afford a key forward like him who doesn't kick goals'?
-
Out of the forwards that Deanox listed Robbo, Miller and Bate are only short term prospects, they're ok but all have serious deficiencies. Realistically they'r future depth players. Newton won't get another contract extension. Obviously Watts and Jurrah are the two to build the forwardline around going forward. As others have already suggested Wona & Maric will also feature heavily. Sylvia & Morton will most likely rotate through the area and I'd like to see Bailey use Green up there in his twilight years, his experience will be invaluable for a young, developing group of kids. I'd like to see us get one more genuine key forward, however I'm undecided on whether we need a classy midfielder instead. If we end up with a pp pick it would still be very, very tempting to take two great mids.

The good thing about Casey is the more we put into the area the more we'll get out of it
-
ahh, i understand and I agree that it's a significant step for the club. In years to come we may look back at this decision and see it as being the one that saved the club. All who were involved in this process should be congratulated

HT, why the rolling of the eyes?

Dogs' boss says Melbourne is copying their ideas

Very good! -
These days he only posts the Collingwood selections, after the draft. He, along with several others, are a big loss to bigfooty.

The dogs have nothing to complain about, the NT Government has made it know that they want branding rights and the doggies have no space left, Melbourne on the other hand have space on the shorts. -
There's an important factor to this opinion that we've picked him purely for marketing purposes, and that is how many of those who are making these statements have actually watched him play and train over the last month? My guess is not that many

There are alot of good careers out there that don't require VCE results, I'm thinking of trades like sparkies, builders and plumbers anyway, off topic...

Good call no.2 Article from Jason McCartney on who he thinks stood out for each of the main states http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...77/default.aspx

Two gun midfielders is very, very tempting....let's see how the u/18's pan out though first, and which picks we end up with
-
Still very early to tell but don't forget Lucas and Morabito, I can't see Scully sliding past the first pick but the next 4 after that is definitely open, at this stage it appears to be between Butcher, Lucas, Morabito & Christensen. But as we know players can come from no where during the u/18's. One thing is for certain, a pp would be very, very handy.

Riewoldt didn't play alot of games in his first year because of injuries...and this has been already mentioned about half a dozen times in this thread. Moral of the story? Read the entire before making a fool of yourself <_<

Winning is irrelevant this year and Collingwood is just another team, the scoreboard result doesn't matter.

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...6-19742,00.html It's amazing how two different papers can get two different poitns of view from the same interview
-
Without seeing him train and play it's going to be very difficult to make a judgement, but what's holding him back from playing right now? If it's his body size then that won't change much in a couple of weeks but a couple of extra games would definitely give him more 'match fitness'.

I have a feeling that Newton's passport has already been stamped with the exit visa and no further entries.

Muston is a good example, debuting after 4 or 5 frustrating years. Grimes probably also slide to our 2nd pick because of his back, Varcoe at the cats is another because of his foot.
