  1. Wouldn't quite go that far. He's improved it a hell of a lot this season in the WAFL. Anyway, I'm over arguing my point. The guy has shown improvement in those areas of his game as well as his off-field behaviour. From that, I see a guy who has the desire to play at the highest level, and that's all that was needed this year. For him to show that he can commit. Too many worry warts on here. Within an AFL club, he'll have an abundance of caring coaches players and people to set him on the right path. Especially interstate.
  2. The point is, the only risk in taking him is from a non-football side of things. Nothing to do with ability. He can play, everyone has seen it and everyone knows it. Hypotheticals aside. He's going to be an absolute steal for whoever gets him. I'm making ultimatums. And I'll be held accountable. The guy will be a steal.
  3. When we have a capable midfield, he will become one.
  4. Those two and Lennon. Let's hope they're 200 + game champions so we don't have the chance to get it wrong, again..
  5. C'mon guys, cut him some slack... He's clearly vision impaired.
  6. I think the chances of snaring a Barlow these days are few and far between however Chris Cain is one I've had my eye on for a while and whilst obviously there are a whole batch of other mature age recruits I have no idea about, I would really love to get Cain across to the MFC. I'm much more confident in our recruiting department as I'm sure everyone else is. The appointment of Taylor was vital, as we're all well aware of the success rate we've had from drafting in previous years. Last year was a big success and I can only hope we'll snag some decent players at pick 40 and 57 or whatever it is. Garlett is a kid who would only leave a club if he wasn't able to apply himself. He has skills and attributes that 3/4's of our list would die for. Maybe it's some sort of romantic thing, but I can imagine Roos really being a fantastic mentor for a troubled kid like that. He's the best on the business. If we were to land Cain and Garlett on top of the trade period we've had, I'll be doing cartwheels.
  7. I'll be honest, I feel for the guy. But I also feel for the MFC at large, and I sincerely hope we've learnt from some of those unbelievably bad decisions that have no doubt contributed to where we are now. All the best with your future Cale.
  8. I see Kelly being a slider and I don't reckon GWS will take him. Just a feeling.
  9. In your own condescending way, you've been giving it to posters for expressing their view on the player at hand. I'm just bringing you down from that perch you seem so comfortable on. You've grossly exaggerated the view poster's have on Taggert by quoting 'he would have been a star'.
  10. I haven't read one 'he could be a gun' statement. It's a football forum you goose. That's why people come here. To debate/discuss/analyse anything and everything to do with the MFC. It's just as waffling that the MFC have recruited plenty of spuds as high draft picks who have gone on to do sfa. Morton and Gysberts namely. Two players who's lack of progress was nothing to do with the way we developed them.. Get off your high-horse you nonce. Taggert is an incredibly unlucky footballer, and you offer nothing other than drivel, banging on about how you thinkits laughable that supporters question the club's decisions. It's what forums are about. Get over yourself.
  11. A bit of 'tongue in cheek' RPFC. Fair points, except that I see Garlett as effectively a top 10-20 talent who down the track can build his tank to run trough the midfield. I believe 'talent' is more important than just 'stocking up' on mids. You can only have so many McKenzies', Bails' and Matt Jones' running around before you're flogging a midfield of dead horsies. Clearly we're on the same page when it comes to adding to our midfield, (as most are), but there's a difference between just 'stocking up' on mature aged recruits and the like, and taking a highly skilled youngster with some discipline issues. The positive thing is that we have two of the best player development coaches in the business in Roos and Stone. I hope they take the risk.
  12. What would you do if the selection were up to you party pooper? (Genuine question)
  13. Whatevs. I rate the guy. I think he's incredibly unlucky not to have had the opportunity to play any afl. Had it been the Bailey days, he would have been given free games all the time. He's a better footballer than Bail, Nicho, McKenzie and Jetta and I'll stand by that. There's more to being delisted than one thinks and as we have all seen, clubs get plenty of decisions wrong. He was was drafted at a time where the Neeld and Craig era were trying to implement big change and develop our youngsters at Casey rather than gifting them games. Taggert's situation was completely different to that of Tynan, Davis, Magner etc. He had a debilatating back injury which ruined his first year. Granted he never dominated consistently at VFL level, but I've seen enough in him to know he has some really handy attributes. I'm not saying the club got the decision wrong, I'm simply saying I'm disappointed. I hope he gets picked up by a club...
  14. There's already a first game lineup thread... (Michie was specifically drafted as a mid ps)
  15. Well I suggest you have buckets a plenty wherever it is you'll be over the next few months my friend..
  16. I'm down. As long as we snag him!
  17. Would still have him ahead of Bail, McKenzie, Nico, Jetta etc Will be great if we get him, he'll certainly have an impact. Hoping we get him at 40 if Garlett is gone.
  18. I saw and still see something in Taggert. Not happy to see him go.
  19. BB. If we want a premiership, we're going to need to be harsh. Bartram's tenacity and no fear approach was admirable but in the AFL, you need to bring more to the table. For too long have I seen mediocre players represent the MFC and it's infected supporters. They've become used to having mediocre players and so they stick up for them whenever a bad word is said. I'm sure Bartram is a lovely guy. But I'm strictly talking football here and I want to leave all emotional pre-dispositions aside for the betterment of our club.I want a god damn premiership.
  20. Thank god he nominated tha Saints, now this nonsense can stop. Ya'll realise Weller is just another Bartram? Again, raise the bar people. We have enough spuds still running around. We want to improve don't we? Cross Tyson Vince Michie There's a theme. Roos wants to add talent. Mav Weller... Lols...
  21. Lennon does look cleaner and classier. Freeman looks more dynamic and explosive and looks to have some grunt. But at the same time can use the ball. That's the beauty of the draft. Pick a player who will compliment your list and hope that you get it right. Since we have Watts, Toumpas and Vince as classy types, I'd love to add an explosive and dynamic mid to our list who can also use the ball well. Blease is a poor mans Freeman. Freeman has many more strengths to his name.
  22. Can't say I see the Moloney comparison.Freeman to me doesn't really look like anyone. I think his vision and awareness when he has a bit of time is pretty good. He's not a lace out laser-foot like Lennon or Salem but he is a much better kick than Moloney. He's very explosive, and seems to play with a lot of confidence and is not afraid. He seems like a pretty dynamic midfielder to me with not many weaknesses. He's standout attribute is obviously speed but I'd say he's a pretty well-rounded mid. Confidence and physicality is always a good sign too. He's like a Shuey-Dangerfield-David King cross.
  23. Jump on the 'pick 9' thread and you'll see some links on the earlier pages.
  24. Let's be honest, neither of us have the faintest of ideas about the guy's personal life. We have read and heard reports. However, none of the 'problems' seem to be a massive cause for concern for me. It's not like he's been accused of rape or murder.. He has had commitment and discipline issues and that's it. Garlett himself has stated that he'd find it easier to settle if he were to move states, which I'm sure is the reason people keep saying West Coast won't go near him. He said that it's his mates in WA that make it hard for him to settle and that's why it'd be easier to move state to play. However this year he proved to the naysayers that he can indeed be committed and I didn't hear much about off-field issues and he was in WA all year with his 'mates'. And from what I saw, he had a decent year in the WAFL and showed why he was rated a top 10 pick last year. So what, he found it hard to curb the 'party boy' identity that resulted in him being overlooked last year. This year was a damn big improvement in the WAFL. It's clear he has a desire to play AFL, and this year he was fantastically committed to the cause. The guy will be fine if he gets to an interstate club. And he will. I just hope it's us. He is a young boy who needs guidance and that's one of the beautiful thing about sporting teams and clubs. They can do more than just provide someone with an opportunity to play at the highest level. Clubs can help shape and develop young people. Garlett will be picked up, there's no doubt, and I for one hope we snag him.
