  1. Apologies, I thought you only watched his highlights. However it's still only one game, and what I was saying is that he averaged big contested possession numbers for the games he played. I hate stats also, but I'm pointing this out because you're worried he's not good in close. Again, let's just wait and see.
  2. I'm not going to respond to your first paragraph, it's clear we disagree so I don't need to continue arguing something that doesn't resonate with you. Vice versa. As for this Sewell thing, it's not evidence Axis. Any recruiter you speak to will say that your comparison is silly. I understand you don't rate the guy and that's not what I am saying is silly. Not your view. How about we come back to this midway through next year?
  3. What you really mean is this. "I've only watched one highlights reel which is up on the AFL website and it showed him winning only one contested possession, therefore I conclude he is a good-honest footballer. Most of his possessions come from on the spread, not in close." It's absolutely obvious from your above post that you know very little about the player. Go and look at his carnival stats for the games he played and tell me what sort of contested possession numbers you find. You're welcome.
  4. You made the comparison with Brad Sewell. Which makes no sense as experts have Sheed going top 10/15 of this draft. Which means your comparison is silly. As for Pendles and Heppell, I merely made a comparison to the way they move. Not positions. Anyway, it's clear we have polar-opposite views so I'm happy to leave it there.
  5. I don't think Roos has deliberately targeted taller mids.. It just happens we took those three and they're around the same height. If your theory is indeed true, Sheed would fit the bill anyway as I'm pretty certain he is around the 185-187cm mark.
  6. I don't ever remember Brad Sewell being touted as a top 10 draft pick... Ludicrous comparison if you ask me. I urge you to go back and look at someone like Pendelbury's under 18's highlight reel. Or perhaps Heppell. They move in a similar way, don't let this lack of speed fool you. Dom Sheed is a very smart player and he seems to have that awareness that makes it look like he has more time to dispose of the ball. I'm not saying he is or WILL be as good as either of those two I've mentioned above, but he certainly reminded me of them when I saw his carnival games this year. I reckon he's a jet.
  7. Plain and simple people have differing opinions and I'm of the view that Roos wouldn't part ways with pick 9 and Howe to get Kennedy, (speaking hypothetically obviously). It's not about rose coloured glasses. It's about belief in development with the right people in charge. I'm all for getting Kennedy, but for a deal that will benefit us both short and longterm.
  8. A hell of a lot better than he would have been if we'd stuck with the old FD. Christ! We have two of the best development coaches and environment builders in the comp! Have some faith. Toumpas could be anything. He's played one year in the worst team in the AFL with the worst midfield in the AFL. CONTEXT.
  9. Well when you take into consideration Mr Roos and his right hand man Stone would have had a significant contribution to Kennedy being the player he is today, then it makes trading Howe look like a big loss for us. I'm confident we'll make inroads next year without Kennedy and giving up Howe and pick 9 is not looking at the bigger picture. Roos wouldn't do it.
  10. I wouldn't swap Howe and pick 9. Or toumpas and pick 9. Yes Kennedy is a player, but people forget that you can still land stars at pick 9 and Toumpas will be a fantastic player in the right environment. Howe will develop into an amazing player also. I'm sure of it. You have to think about how these players will be with another two to three years development in the right environment. For me Toumpas and Howe both have too much potential and with pick 9 it's a loss. I also believe Roos wouldn't trade Howe or Toumpas. The only way I see this working is trading pick 9, perhaps our pick in the 50's and someone on the outer. We still have the nucleus of a fantastic list if it can be developed the right way and Roos would be the first to recognise this. Kennedy is the perfect example of a player who blossomed under Roos and the environment that was provided. It's no different for someone like Howe or Toumpas.
  11. There's a reason why most have left him out. I can't say I share the same love for him, and that seems to be the general consensus for most supporters. As far as tall defenders go, Frawley and McDonald have Dunn covered because they add more than just accountability and one-on-one defending. Garland is the other tall who can also play small and again offers far more than Dunn as far as other aspects of playing the game goes. What's his value to the side if those three have him covered in every other facet of the game? As far as half backs and pockets go, again it's not all about one-on-one defending. Run, carry, reading the play, speed and footy smarts. Terlich, Grimes, Clisby again have him covered and can play on smalls. Dunn is okay for a lock-down cameo job occasionally but he is certainly not in my starting back six.
  12. Master, I love your work but you've got to set aside this emotional attachment you have for Jordie. Jordie has zero decision making skills and his awareness to find free team mates when under even the smallest bit of pressure is absolutely shocking. Cross hasn't got a great kick but his decision making and awareness are light years beyond Jordies. Anyway, very exciting news.
  13. Wouldn't mind it. Lennon and freeman are one and two in line for me though.
  14. In my eyes, Aish will fill out easier and quicker than Kelly, and I reckon he's got a few more tricks. We'll see though. As for Sheed, he lopes around the ground. Not quick, but glides like Pendles. I really rate him. But again, we'll find out soon enough.
  15. Lennon can and will develop into a midfielder. With those attributes, he'd be a devastating player. Fyfe is the perfect example.
  16. Yep, I reckon he'll be snapped up before West Coast's pick. It's just a feeling. My other prediction is that Josh Kelly will slide.
  17. Sheed is the other I like but I reckon will be gone by pick 9.
  18. Lennon looks great in those highlights. Really handy attributes to have for someone who can be developed into a full time mid. Kicking and marking are unbelievable and whilst his frame isn't solid yet, he's no stick. Extremely hard to tell from a highlights package but if Lennon's not afraid of getting his hands dirty and has the right attitude, he'll be a jet. Josh Kelly extremely underwhelming. Have seen him play before a couple of times and the highlights are the same. He'll get eaten alive next year if he plays AFL. Definitely needs a frame. Freeman is the other I'd be happy with although he seems to have a habit of throwing ball to boot without thinking ala Nathan Jones early in his career. Something that can be easily fixed. We need a well rounded mid with pick 9. Not a one-dimensional inside mid with not much outside game or a skinny classy outside mid with no ball winning ability. Needs to be a Dangerfield/Fyfe type of player for us. Lennon or Freeman. Make it happen.
  19. Enjoying reading some of the prospective best 22's here. As for pick 40 for us, I'm crossing my fingers we pick Chris Cain up. That would top off an unbelievable trade period, (on paper), but I believe it will bring about significant change. I've posted this in other threads but Cain is a mature age VFL listed player who is very classy and in my eyes will be the 'pick' of the mature age recruits. For varying reasons, he was never able to get on a list but as we've all seen, some mature aged players just need that chance and change. Similar build to Magner but not in ability. Cain is a natural footballer with elite skills and hands in close. Classy mid and a smart footy brain. The bonus is that he has a hardened body and I've known since playing with him through the ranks that he'd be able to make the cut at AFL level. Similar footy smarts to someone like Mitchell. If we get him, (and Cross), this is the following injection of mids we'd have to choose from: Michie Vince Howe Viney Trengove Watts Cross Tyson Cain Toumpas Pick 9 Kent That's an unbelievable upgrade of talent on our list and there's still a great balance of contested ball winners. Huge depth change having brought in those players and all of which have fantastic skills and footy brains, (with the exception of Cross maybe) That leaves McKenzie, Bail, Matt Jones, Jetta, Blease, Strauss, Nicho, Tapscott, Taggert really battling hard to get a game and will only be a positive for the development of these players. It means we'll have to have these types playing at the top of their game for Casey and doing it consistently before being given a game. I'm sure you can swap some of the names listed here for the ones above but I've chosen the ones above because of their ability as well rounded players as apposed to the ones listed in this paragraph. Unlike last year, we've actually added talent and ability to our midfield as well as creating fantastic depth. I want Cain. I want Cross. I'll be buying all demondlanders a beer if it happens.
  20. Really I think he just wants some genuine AFL players to work with. Talent. Now he's got some. More to come.
  21. A more competitive environment due to an injection of quality midfielders. It's only a positive if players need to be fighting nail and tooth for a spot in our midfield. Will bring out the best in them.
  22. For anyone in the know or has perhaps watched the guy play, I'm interested in knowing what Crouch's kicking and decision making is like. Is it comparable to Viney's? If so, I'm all for him.
  23. The way he moves reminds me a lot of Dustin Martin pre draft. Have a look at Martin's highlights for vic country. Interesting. Pity he hasn't been able to get on the park much to date but nonetheless this guy can seriously play.
  24. Same with me. Chris Cain I believe. Watch this space.
