The fact that he looks like Harpo Marx is not his fault. He was born like that. I just want him in the team ASAP.

Good get!

He was chief strategist for the Iraki army in 2003 and followed that up with a stint as financial adviser at Enron. He was once driving instructor for Princess Di's chauffeur and was also consulted by Britney Spears on parenting.

The Hawks will certainly miss their suspended quartet but otherwise they have just about their best team team on the park. I can name at least six Melbourne players who will be missing on Sunday and who would normally be in our best 22 - they are Clint Bartram, Matthew Bate, Colin Sylvia, Lynden Dunn, Jared Rivers and Matthew Whelan. That evens up the ledger as far as I'm concerned and there are no excuses for either side.

Just wondering if your MFC membership ticket gets you into the game for this Sunday as it's an away game.

Too true, the AFL has hijacked our celebration - we should be suing the bastards. The least they could have done was had us playing the opening game at the G as our home game - perhaps against Collingwood or Essendon.

Another donation here. I just want to say that I have been an almost daily visitor to this site for the past 8 seasons and it has helped to keep me sane and to get through the day at work. I'm happy to finally be able to give something back to help keep this site online. I don't know where I'd be without it.

Paul McNamee as CEO? Could be the first step in getting Todd Viney back to the club.
-
Let me guess. Carmen Lawrence is the great, great granddaughter.

Couldn't be Lord. He retired more than 40 years ago. Probably couldn't be one of our better players because they left them all in Melbourne.

They're getting fashion writers to do stories about us these days! SILVER LINING FOR DEES' SEASON "MELBOURNE's heart may beat true for the red and the blue, but for the NAB Cup it will beat red, blue . . . and silver. New recruit John Meesen yesterday unveiled the Demons' NAB Cup guernsey, which will double as its clash jumper this year. The mainly silver jumper incorporates the traditional red and blue colours and the club's 150th anniversary logo." The great Norm Smith must be rolling over in his grave!!!

After watching Collingw&%$ fluff up in Dubai, it's no wonder they must play almost all of their games at home.

The Canberra Times correspondent Merryn Sherwood is all over Melbourne's China experiment - ACT stopover on long march into China but hasn't much to say about the Demons in town. The article also mentions that we were first with the Irish experiment in 1981 but not the fact that we've completely abandoned that country and given it over to other clubs to recruit premiership (Sydney) and grand final (Collingwood) players. Anyway good luck and a happy new year to Zhao Yonggen and Zhao Wei!

Can anyone see Joffa and the Collingwood push forking out their 10 bucks when they can watch the game and abuse the maggots from the footpath on Beach Road?
-
You'll have to wait for the footage to come up on Youtube (they get everything these days don't they?). I'm just glad they took Masten and we went for Cale Morton.

It looks like the Eagles have pulled off a recruiting masterpiece with their number 3 selection at November's draft. Chris Masten has been harged with disorderly conduct in an Australia Day scuffle in Perth. It was reported in the Australian that Masten "allegedly punched a man in the face at the South Perth foreshore. Police had to break up the fight. It is believed the rookie player was handcuffed and taken to a mobile police post where he was told to leave the area." Yep, filling in beautifully for Benny.

Ray Nilsson was a one hit wonder and I much preferred Harry Nilsson myself. Ray played with John Lord but Harry thought the Lord lived in New York City. His other hit was Without You. Like his mate John Lennon, Harry died at a relatively young age. Don't know if he ever wore #38.

We're not over with Phantom Drafts yet. Here's mine for the PSD (based on teams passing and the fact that WCE will delist Cousins by November 30): 1. Richmond - David Gourdis 2. Carlton - Ryley Dunn 3. Melbourne - Tom Bellchambers 4. Bulldogs - Scott Welsh 5. Essendon - Andrew Renton 6. Fremantle - Clayton Collard 7. West Coast - Patrick McGinnity

THE YEAR OF DRAFTING DANGEROUSLY – PART ONE
Chelly replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
This article from the West Australian suggests that Masten will go to the Eagles at 3 - Eagles on lookout for new Judd at weekend draft -
I'll take those selections. Which one are we going to take Sampi with?
-
The point being is that if he's no good then he's not worth a punt as some are suggesting here (but that should be obvious too!)
-
Maybe they delisted the guy because he was no good?

How about Send in the Clowns?

Sour grapes. Most observers thought the club was taking a very professional and thorough approach towards its most important appointment and this twit wasn't happy because he was eliminated early. Did he really think he was a better candidate than Bailey, Sheedy or Hardwick? Maybe the club just wanted a man the players could look up to! Anyway Libba, good luck at Sunbury. It's a nice part of the world and the crowds are small enough for you to avoid major embarassment when addressing the palyers at the 3/4 time huddles.
