  1. Peter Maynard was a smallish wing/flanker who played 8 games in 1980-1 and then moved on to Glenelg in the SANFL where he had a long career. He worked at Melbourne a few years ago so I'm sure the red and blue blood still runs through his veins.
  2. I heard him on SEN this afternoon suggesting the AFL should move our game v Geelong to the G to get a bigger crowd. Nice try Chris.
  3. Melbourne injury list: round 21 Jesse Hogan (knee) - available Mitch King (knee) - season Heritier Lumumba (concussion) - indefinite Ben Newton (knee) - 1 week Jake Spencer (knee) - test
  4. Melbourne injury list: round 20 Jesse Hogan (knee) – test Max King (wrist) – test Mitch King (knee) – season Heritier Lumumba (concussion) – indefinite
  5. The club's official list from before selection which suggests that Oscar and Jake both got through and we have only 2 injuries at the club. Well done fitness people. Melbourne injury list: round 19 Mitch King (knee) – season Heritier Lumumba (concussion) – indefinite Oscar McDonald (ankle) – test Jake Spencer (knee) – test Aaron vandenBerg (hip) – available
  6. Almost everyone's back this week - Melbourne injury list: round 18 Chris Dawes (back spasm) – available Sam Frost (illness) – available Jay Kennedy-Harris (hamstring) – available Max King (groin) – available Mitch King (knee) – season Heritier Lumumba (concussion) – indefinite Christian Salem (illness) – available Full squad almost available for selection
  7. Cam Pedersen and Josh Wagner face fitness tests before being selected this week:- Melbourne injury list: round 16 Jay Kennedy-Harris (hamstring) – 2 weeks Mitch King (knee) – season Heritier Lumumba (concussion) – test Cameron Pedersen (shoulder) – test Christian Salem (illness) – 2 weeks Joel Smith (groin) – 2 weeks Josh Wagner (knee) – test
  8. JKH is the sad story of the week and possibly the year. Melbourne injury list: round 13 Angus Brayshaw (concussion) – test Lynden Dunn (hamstring) – 1 week Jay Kennedy-Harris (hamstring) – 4-6 weeks Mitch King (knee) – season Heritier Lumumba (concussion) – 1 week Christian Salem (illness) – indefinite Joel Smith (groin) – 4-6 weeks Sam Weideman (hip flexor) – 1 week
  9. He was rested only a few weeks ago and in between that, there was a bye. If he's being rested, it's a strange move indeed.
  10. Melbourne injury list: round 12 Angus Brayshaw (concussion) – 1 week Lynden Dunn (hamstring) – 2-3 weeks Heritier Lumumba (concussion) – indefinite Christian Salem (illness) – 3-4 weeks Joel Smith (groin) – 6 weeks Jack Viney (knucklebone) – test
  11. Melbourne injury list: round 11 Angus Brayshaw (concussion) – 2-3 weeks Colin Garland (cheekbone) – 1 week Matt Jones (back) – available Jay Kennedy-Harris (hamstring) – test Mitch King (knee) – season Heritier Lumumba (concussion) – indefinite Clayton Oliver (quadriceps) – available Christian Salem (illness) – 4 weeks Jack Viney (knucklebone) – 3-4 weeks
  12. From the article, the two omissions from illness are back available and JKH is also ready but will have to miss out again because of the bye for most VFL clubs. Melbourne injury list: round 10 Angus Brayshaw (concussion) – 3 weeks Matt Jones (back) – 1 week Jay Kennedy-Harris (hamstring) – available Heritier Lumumba (concussion) – TBC Clayton Oliver (corked thigh) – test Cameron Pedersen (illness) – available Christian Salem (illness) – TBC Dom Tyson (illness) – available
  13. It would seem that the only injury list currently available is the one on the AFL site which has these players on that list:- Angus Brayshaw (concussion) - test Jay Kennedy-Harris (hamstring) - 3 weeks Mitch King (knee) season Heritier Lumumba (concussion) - test Christian Salem (concussion) - test Aaron vandenBerg (ankle) - 3 weeks No Matt Jones. If the list is accurate, those three pass their tests and we have no further mystery injuries, then we're as well placed as we have ever been at this time of year.
  14. This week's injury list - Melbourne injury list: round seven Angus Brayshaw (concussion) – 1 week Chris Dawes (calf) – available Jay Kennedy-Harris (hamstring) – 3-4 weeks Christian Salem (concussion) – 1 week Joel Smith (groin) – available Aaron vandenBerg (ankle) – 3-4 weeks
  15. According to the MFC site the updated injury list should see a few players back in action this week although, in view of the announcement that CP5 is due to make his AFL debut, I think the returnees can expect to be off to Windy Hill to play for the Scorpions on Sunday. Possibly, Clayton Oliver might make it back to the AFL and Matt Jones will be stiff to miss as well as the player who is going to be omitted to make way for the Truck. Melbourne injury list: round six Chris Dawes (calf) – 1 week Matt Jones (soreness) – available Jay Kennedy-Harris (hamstring) – 5-6 weeks Oscar McDonald (concussion) – available Clayton Oliver (rested) – available Joel Smith (groin) – 1 week Jake Spencer (foot) – available Aaron vandenBerg (ankle) – 3-4 weeks
  16. The AFL site claims this list (updated today) is really the MFC injury list:- Melbourne injury list: round five Angus Brayshaw (concussion) - test Chris Dawes (calf) – 1 week Jay Kennedy-Harris (hamstring) – 3 weeks Mitch King (knee) – season Jake Spencer (plantar fascia) – 3 weeks
  17. Sadly, Mitch King's season is over and Bernie is on this list published by the AFL but he's not really injured - just suspended. Max King and Ben Newton are not on the list and hopefully, this means that they will play for the Casey Scorpions this week. Chris Dawes (calf) 2 weeks Jay Kennedy-Harris (hamstring) 3 - 4 weeks Mitch King (knee) season Jake Spencer (plantar fascia) 3 - 4 weeks Jack Trengove (concussion) test Bernie Vince (suspended) 1 week
  18. Our first injury list for the season has us looking in good Nick. Chris Dawes (calf) 4 weeks Matt Jones (concussion) test Ben Newton (ankle) 4 weeks Christian Salem (finger) available Jake Spencer (foot) TBC Aaron vandenBerg (ankle) test
  19. The story of Petracca's toe is exactly why Demon fans are skeptical when an injury is first announced and a time line is given. The thread opened on 5 January and we were told it was a four week injury. That was 9 weeks ago and Petracca only joined the main group for training this week and we are now told that he won't be playing in the Demons side until at least round 2 making it about 12 - 13 weeks. Even allowing for the delay in his rehab, this sounds a bit much..
  20. The AFL obviously forgot to consult ASADA about whether Prismall could work at the club as a player welfare officer. Gillon only asked Collingwood and Hawthorn what they thought should be done.
  21. T20 Mickey Mouse stuff.
  22. Looking forward to Sunday. I remember our game last year when we played them at a similar time of the year in Ballarat. We jumped them early and were coasting away to what should have been a good win before coming to a complete stop and nearly losing. They went on to be a formidable combination and made the finals but we were up and down all year and had a flat end to the season. I suppose that much will depend on the team picked.
  23. According to the bookies, we are going to fall to 14th and are a long way off contention for a final eight position:- $4.25 Hawthorn $6.00 West Coast $9.00 Fremantle Geelong $12.00 Port Adelaide Sydney $15.00 Richmond $21.00 North Melbourne $26.00 Western Bulldogs $34.00 Collingwood $51.00 Adelaide GWS Giants $67.00 Gold Coast Suns $201.00 Melbourne $251.00 St Kilda $301.00 Brisbane Lions $501.00 Carlton Essendon
  24. For our later draft picks? State league gems: Who are the rough diamonds in the AFL mix?
