  1. Rohan Bail was a gun runner as well.
  2. In retaliation to you saying some nasty things about me as well. I'm staying out of all that stuff this year and keeping it footy related. I personally disagree with the whole nastiness thing and I think Macca even acknowledged that. No one got personal with him, just question the exact main context of the thread. @Macca respectfully explained in depth around the point he is trying to make and can certainly see the point in what he was making out. I would like to think that the discussion continued more footy related and respectful.
  3. I think a lot of it does come down to development more so then the pick itself. There is a general feeling that during the Bailey era, we recruited based based on speed and athleticism because one of Dean Bailey's strengths was that whilst his record was sub par, he was actually ahead of the game with where the game was going in terms of moving the footy with such speed and slingshot off half back. No coincidence that the likes of Hawthorn, Richmond and Collingwood have had success over the journey purely based on game plan that was build off quick ball movement and still is in today's game with Collingwood being elite at that. We recruited the right players at the time but our development was very sub par and it was very evident. You put a Jack Watts, Sam Blease and Jack Trengrove in a Hawthorn and Geelong jumper at the time and they would have absolutely thrived. Thankfully, no development issues with us. Actually, now there's simply no excuses.
  4. Thanks Pickett. Just hope the extra weight doesn't put enormous stress on his foot.
  5. It's healthy and okay to disagree with people opinions on here even if it doesn't add zero value to the thread. What's not okay is telling anyone to [censored] off somewhere else just because it doesn't suit you or others narratives. I know you're big advocate on people on here not getting personal on players on this forum (certainly a good reminder from time to time) if you'redoing the exact same with members on this forum. DS just calls it as it sees it and some people either love it or hate it. I've certainly disagreed with a lot of his opinions over the years but I also know he adds a lot of value to 'Land' and thoroughly enjoy his training reports especially. @Macca whilst I'm still trying to work out the guts of this discussion, my guess is the list management team have a thorough long term plan in place which is to continue to remain as competitive as we can without bombing out. That means continuing to add value through free agency and stacking up with talent. I think you need to have a fine balance otherwise we'll end up falling off the cliff like Hawthorn, West Coast and even Richmond are now with their current rebuild. Geelong and Sydney have been the absolute masters in setting the benchmark on what good list management is all about with being able to stay in the top 8 contention for thr past 10 years and a bit.
  6. Have seen some recent photos of Harrison Petty at training, to me he looks like he's put on some upper body size??
  7. Thanks to all the training reports. Much appreciated.
  8. Highly doubt the coaches will even bat a eye lid over this stuff. Rarely are coaches owning social media platforms like Twitter, so they wouldn't even see this nor should they be caught up in comments like this. No different to any other journo that has an opinion that has us missing top 4 or even finals.
  9. Legit. Still half unsure what's the main point of this thread considering all bottom 4 clubs will go through huge list during their development phase...
  10. History will also show that he's never returned right on the expected due date just with the ongoing knee issues he's had. This will drag out further and then he'll need at least 4-6 weeks of solid VFL footy before he's in AFL frame especially if Petty and JVR are playing solid footy together, considering they're also in best 22 whereas Ben isn't. Thinking around mid year before we see Ben's name come into AFL selection consideration.
  11. Mate read the article.. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2023/11/07/why-lycett-retired-despite-having-interest-from-victorian-clubs-and-offers/ He literally says he met with other clubs and completed medicals including Melbourne, but he made the decision himself based on the doctors advice and his own health benefit. The fact that we interviewed him and requested a medical means our interest was strong and there was certainly a consideration. No one is saying we needed Lycett, but the fact the club showed genuine interest means we certainly exhausted options for a mature age back up ruckman whether you like it or not.
  12. Yeah totally. Certainly has the aspirations and I think it's a valid discussion. Not saying I would have absolutely made a complete change over but I can @DeeSpencer. DeeSpencer saying what people don't want to hear at times. Don't understand the need to jump down someone's throat because his opinion is different to others.
  13. Vineys leadership really has skye rocket since he got demoted. Certainly seen a huge change and shift in him. Personally I'd have him or Lever as my pick for outright captain.
  14. No, seems like they were wanting to go down that path but Lycett chose not too.
  15. With Brown and Fullarton now out then there is certainly opportunity there for him. Interesting that he trained well because didn't someone mentioned that he was all that impressive last Friday during the match simulation?
  16. Strange comment.. No one is questioning Fullarton as the selection, the question was whether we had other options for that back up experienced ruckman which it's well known that we did in Scott Lycett. Fullarton is more forward then ruck and that's been evident all along. If you go through training reports for instance, Will Verrall has dominated over him in the ruck duels in the match sims.
  17. We spoke and interviewed Scott Lycett. Clearly we saw more in Tom Fullarton. Not sure if Marty Hore selection was a significant need considering we already have Howes, Adams and Turner as talls that play in similar position. Had we been better using that selection on a mature age ruckman which CLEARLY was/is a much bigger need?
  18. Regarding Windsor, no reason why he cannot emulate the same similar year to Ollie Hollands from the blues. Though, Hollands biggest strength is his very elite endurance and work rate. He is a state cross country runner just to prove how good he is at this levelm I'm not entirely sure where Windsor stacks up in terms of endurance levels etc, but going off his under 18's footage, he seems to have a high work rate which will hold him in good stead. Interestingly, both drafted pretty much the same height and weight. Hollands had a great first year and played a crucial last quarter in their defeat against us in the final. It may seem like huge expectations being placed on the kid, but I honestly can't see Hunter being a regular 22 anymore and think he'll start to get overworked by quicker and more pacey wingers such that are coming through the competition. Certainly think there is an opportunity there for Windsor if he can grab it with both hands.
  19. Tomo has never played back up ruck for us. When he was recruited to the club, he was trialled as a wingman to little success and then transitioned into defence where he has remained since. I was hoping last year that they would have swung Tomlinson forward in the finals series instead of a cooked McDonald. Some don't realise but Tomlinson was a gun CHF at junior level due to his high work rate and endurance level. Even when he started at AFL level he showed some good signs as a high CHF who could run both ways and blow up his defenders. Tomlinson was fit at the time and felt that maybe that could have added some unpredictability going forward instead of McDonald who was absolutely useless.
  20. Is it true Jed Adams played up forward instead of defence?
