This is my understanding from speaking to a family member of his a month back, but Charlie is currently assessing his options at the end of the year. I think he wants a fresh start, but I dont know entirely know whether there is interest or not as we didn't discuss opposition club interests.

This is factually incorrect GWS and Collingwood both played in preliminary finals a year after change in coaches. Both stayed in finals contention since. Sam Mitchell made a semi final in his 3rd year. Dimma Hardwick is about to take the Suns into finals in only his second year at the helm. Chris Fagan took them to a semi final in his 3rd year in 2019 and hasnt missed a finals since. Richmond you cannot count because they have gone full rebuild but Yze has done an outstanding job considering no one tipped them to win a game after losing significant amount of experienced players. Removing Goodwin will be the best thing this club has done since the appointment of Jackson. We needed fresh voice and energy and I have no doubt we'll get that with the new coach.

Different response to Langdon but again, good honesty from Viney. Jack says he fully understands that its a cut throat industry and he and the players are fully supportive of it moving forward.

Thanks Gator. Interestingly around that time period we had just come off the back of two back to back smashings from North and Gold Coast. I remember after the North or Gold Coast game, I voiced openly that I was officially on the its time to move Goodwin on stage. Not only had supporters had enough but clearly so did our board members. Clearly Buckley and Longmire are our standout targets it seems.

Also strange considering Richardson attended Goodwins wedding last year. I mean, Richardson did start after the Peter Jackson and Josh Mahoney era?

I liked Eds honesty and clearly the players loved Goodwin which we all knew anyhow. The issue is, when players become way too comfortable and close to the coach then you start to get complacency and players dictate what they can and can't do. They run their own race which is a recipe for disaster. This has been going on for too long now and there been no accountability from coaches to leadership. Players need to take a huge chunk of responsibility for the sacking of Goodwin. The on field performance from the players and so called leaders has been simply unacceptable for 2 years now.

The pull for any new coach will be these two and the task of getting them back to their best. Under Goodwin, I was always in the trade Oliver camp, but someone like a Longmire could be the key. I would rather see how a new coach goes with Oliver and Petracca now. Maybe a new voice and fresh idea is what they need.

Excited for changes. Its been brewing for a long time.

Short sighted view. He got them contending in a consistent manner year after year. 4 grand finals in total with a premiership as well. Malcolm Blight lost 3 grand finals with Geelong before winning two with Adelaide. Horse has proven track record on and off field.
